(One thing to remember is that this is not following the main story of bleach, It is a separate time and thus some things are not the same but others will be.)

150 years ago, an expedition and reconnaissance team was sent from Soul Society to Hueco Mundo to check on the state of the Hollows living in Hueco Mundo. What the team found was appalling and somewhat gruesome because the Hollows had been devouring each other to gain more power and those who had attained so much power their Hollow forms could not handle the reiatsu those few hollows became Arrancar. The team was massacred by the Arrancar before they could report back to Soul Society and so the information never reached Central 46 and over the next 50 years the Arrancar would build up their army. 100 years ago, the Hollows attacked Soul Society on orders from the Arrancar and were charged with the duty of stealing the Hogyuko. The possibility of an attack never seemed logical because the team that learned of the Arrancar died 50 years ago so no one in Soul Society knew of their power. After several days of fighting, slaughter, and the destruction of Soul Society the Hollows got what they came for, The Hogyuko. As the Arrancar fled Soul Society with the Hogyoku the captains of the Gotei 13 perused the hollows sealing the Garganta bhind them eager to avenge their fallen comrades. The Hollows now desperate fled through the Garganta into Karakura Town so they could seal away the Hogyuko and return for it. The Shinigami caught up with the Hollows and the Hollows, knowing they would not be returning to Hueco Mundo bound the Hogyuko to a pedestal in a grove that was in the center of the forest just outside Karakura town. The Shinigami slew the Hollow but could not destroy the binding spell that held the Hogyoku in place. Now Visoreds and Arrancar are available to any Shinigami or hollow who so chooses to use the Hogyuko. After 100 years Soul society has been rebuilt and who knows what the Hollows and Arrancars are planning. Quincy's have begun to work up their forces ready for anything and any gifted humans are helping soul society to rebuild or assist with missions.

[Angel Invasion Arc]
In the midst of the Espada invasion, it was revealed the arrancar were being controlled by Captain Sekhmet Aosu, of the ninth division. Their mysterious leader, known only as Lord Kuraudo, was none other than Veznesel, one of Sekhet’s subordinates. She instructed Veznesel to militarize the Espada in an effort to distract the Gotei 13, so she and her other subordinates, Captain Azriel Sairentosukai, of the third division, and Captain Zalbeseal Korrotasu, of the twelfth division, could infiltrate all aspects of the Soul Society. During the invasion, she lured Captain Teiko Seishin to Karakura town, where the Hogyoku resided, after being suspended there by a mass sacrifice by Vasto Lorde hollows. While there, she convinced Captain Seishin, who she had helped perfect his unique ability, Kudokai, to use his hybrid abilities to shatter the barrier, which could only be done with the essence of a hollow. He used his abilities to shatter the barrier, which could no longer be supported by the weakening Hogyoku, as it was beginning to enter dormancy. She betrayed her ally, stealing the Hogyoku, and returning to the Soul Society. She proceeded to slaughter the remaining Espada, revealing her identity as princess of the once mighty nation, Shirubaraito (City Bathed in Silver Light). The Soul Society enacted genocide on her people, slaughtering all but a few, in an effort to eliminate a technique they feared. Now, the Soul Society must defend against millennia old soul reapers, who plan on returning the favor by annihilating them from existence.

[Feuding Nations Arc]
In the wake of the Angel’s attempts to eradicate the Soul Society, the Gotei 13 is presented with a dilemma far greater than any villain in the past. The Soul Society has violated an ancient law enacted by the Reiteki Rōjin, an ancient group of royal dignitaries from every nation, with the authority to revoke or establish a nation’s soul reaper privileges. The aforementioned law demands that each nation function independently of one another, forbidding they interact and meddle in one another’s affairs. The Soul Society’s act of genocide on Shirubaraito caught the attention of the Reiteki Rōjin, prompting the council to keep a close watch on them. Following the Soul Society’s failure to remedy their past transgressions, relying upon a neighboring nation (Jūzō hoshō) to assist them, the council has decided to revoke their soul reaper privileges. They have tasked the execution of this decree to the Soul Society’s past savior, Jūzō hoshō. They have been instructed, by this ancient and mysterious council, to demand the Soul Society relinquish control over Karakura Town, turn over all spiritual weapons, and forfeit their Reiryoku. Blindsided by this decree, the Soul Society defies this ruling and attempts to thwart the efforts of the Jūzō hoshō, who are merely following orders. The Gotei 13 is now on a mission to prove their worth, but in order to accomplish this, they must defend themselves against the Jūzō hoshō.
(Note: This takes place roughly 50 years following the Angel’s invasion).

[Anguish: Sad Tidings For The Kurotsuki Family]

(Zurui was walking, as he did almost everyday and felt a somewhat familiar, yet unprecedented reiatsu appear briefly and then suddenly disappear again. He frowned, thinking that it was strange to feel such a dense reiatsu appear and disappear so quickly. If they had been a Shirub, then why hadn't they attacked the Seiretei? Zurui decided it was paramount to check the location and determine why he had felt the presence there.)

-I wonder... Was it really a Shirub? I haven't felt a reiatsu like that, not since that bastard Korrotasu. Maybe the reiatsu was of that former Captain, Azriel, I think his name was. From what I heard about him, though, he wouldn't waste his time coming here, unless he had a purpose-

(Zurui shunpoed, stepping from roof-top to roof-top, avoiding the Shinigami charged with wandering the Seireitei, the ones who had been charged with watching for Shirub attacks. Zurui doubted they would be any use against the Shirub, though, since it was unlikely these Unseated squad members would even notice the reiatsu of the Shirub, or detect them coming. Plus, they all seemed to have superior speed to any of the Shinigami, at least from what Zurui had witnessed firsthand and observed second-hand, except possibly the Captains.)

-Sneaky bastards! I'll show them the next time we meet, that Zurui Kurohyou is the most observant of the Captains and the most capable of forming battle tactics-

(Once Zurui had gotten closer, he realised that the location was the North Gate of the Seireitei. Outside of that, was the Rukon District of the Soul Society. Zurui shunpoed to the gate, weighing his options. He didn't want to break the gate down, but it was guarded from the other side and he wasn't exactly a hundred percent sure if opening the gate was the best idea in the middle of a war. He relented thinking and decided to tap on the gate, with as much strength he could muster, without actually breaking it down. He tapped for a couple of minutes, until the gate suddenly began to ascend slowly, being drawn up by some great strength, only possessed by a Gate Guardian.)

'Who are you?!' The large man bellowed, once the gate had reached the top of the frame.

'Idiot! I'm coming from inside the Seireitei... Who else would I be, besides a Shinigami?'

'A traitor, perhaps.'

Zurui snorted derisively, this was wasting time. 'You fool. I am Zurui Kurohyou of Squad Twelve. Besides, why would you even bother opening the gate in the first place, if you weren't sure who I was. You should have enough skill to detect the reiatsu of a Captain...'

The man relented at once. 'Oh... My apologies, Captain. Wait, how do I know it is really you?'

'Because you would be dead right now, if I wasn't...' Zurui spoke coldly, intent on moving from the gate and finding out what he wanted to know. The Guardian blinked fearfully, reeling in surprise from the cold calculation held in Zurui's tone and eyes.

-I should ask this oaf if he felt the reiatsu before-

Zurui smiled falsely, attempting to relax the giant and get him to talk. 'Did you perhaps feel a large reiatsu near to here, before?'

The Guardian looked at him in confusion. 'I don't know...? I thought I did, but it was so sudden, I didn't know if it was my imagination, or not.'

-I see... So, he can only just sense such large reiatsu-

'Never mind...' Zurui dismissed the Guardian with a look and strode away, searching with his eyes on the dirt road.

(The Guardian went to shut the gate behind him, but Zurui turned around instantly, glaring at the Guardian, who froze and let go off the gate. Zurui waggled his finger and turned once more, almost tripping over a bundle, until he realised it wasn't a bundle. He looked closer, his heart filling with dread and becoming cold.)

[Play music]

-It couldn't possibly be...?-

(It wasn't a bundle, but Mikazuki, dead, wrapped in her Captain's haori and another cloak Zurui didn't recognize as being of Shinigami make)

'Dammit!!!'

(Zurui gently lifted her body and shunpoed through the gate, not even bothering to acknowledge the Guardian. He swept swiftly through the Seireitei, moving as quickly as he could. Once he reached the Squad Four barracks, he entered, noting that Yua didn't seem to be quite back yet...)

-Where is she??!!-

(Zurui left the body of Mikazuki Kurotsuki under the watch of a couple of the Unseated Shinigami and shunpoed desperately, seeking to find Kakura, whom he didn't know the other Captain had missed the spiritual presence of his sister disppearing. When he got to Squad 13 barracks, Kakura was in his office, appearing to be working, or analysing a bunch of papers)

'Captain Kurohyou... Your presence here is inopportune, I was just about to go find my sister. You haven't seen her around recently, have you?'

Zurui began to sweat slightly, feeling somewhat sick in the pit of his stomach. 'Captain Kurotsuki... Kakura... Haven't you noticed yet? I'm afraid I have news of the worst kind for you. Your sister's body is in Squad Four barra-'

(Kakura's reiatsu flared suddenly, raging like the magma inside a volcano)

'WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SISTER, YOU BASTARD?! Have you betrayed us, like your old master, you son of a bitch?'

Zurui snarled at the name, flinging Kakura's hand away. 'You moron... You know better than that. It was the work of the Shirub, that much is certain, I just don't know if it was the one called Azriel, or one of those other ones. I understand you must be extremely upset, but insinuating that I caused her death is uncalled for. Now come, I'll escort you to Squad Four barracks, so we can await the return of Captain Honoka...'

(Kakura's reiatsu suddenly slumped, feeling even less potent than normal. He hung his head sadly, pent-up emotion welling in his eyes)

'I'm sorry, Zurui, you are right, I am upset... More than you will ever know. Let's go, then!' Kakura spoke, as though he was resigned.

[Stop music]

-Poor bastard. I truely feel for him-

Yua’s bruised and sore body limps out of the senkaimon gate, helping a battered and bleeding Ezretha walk with his arm slung over her neck, holding him steady with her other arm around his waist. She survey’s the soul society at a glance and quickly realizes a strange feeling wash over her, she pulls her eyebrows down into a tense frown.

“Do you feel that too?” questioned Ezretha’s pained voice.

She nods quickly and looks up into his ruby eyes. “Yeah, I don’t like it either.”

They flash near and hear distant echoes of people’s stunned voices reaching their ears. The healer holds Ezretha more securely and broke into a faster run when one blasted clear above the others with unbridled screams of pain. They pierce through the air with such force that the ground began to tremble. Yua’s blood grew cold as she recognized the suffering voice.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” He bellowed again and again, the intense weight of his chaotic spiritual pressure surges and crashes over the squad four barracks.

“What in the world has gotten into him?!” groaned the eleventh squad captain as they race over buildings and streets.

Soon they burst into the door of the barracks, she felt other nearby captain’s reiatsu climb after the yells and tremors erupted and they begin to race over. Her pulse pounds frantically as she went further inside and skids to a halt at seeing the Head Captain coming her way. Striding briskly, he locked his darkened hazel eyes with Yua and she felt herself grow more nervous at the grave lines carved into his features.

“Sir, what has hap-?!” She was interrupted by Sureiyā reaching out and wrapping his hand firmly around Ezretha elbow, then he turns and helps guide him to an empty room. Immediately a group of nurses swarmed in after them and once he was carefully placed on one of the beds they began treating the squad eleven captain wounds. Kami grimly watches them work for a couple seconds, when he sees Yua moving in to assist he sighs quietly and pulls her aside, away from the crowd.

He leans down, saying in as even a voice as he could. “Let your capable medical staff take care of Ezretha for now. There is something else that needs your attention.”

The healer’s heart rate climbs higher. “And that would be?”

“I know this will be difficult for you to go through, and I wish to never have to ask you to do this again, but I right now we need answers.”

“Do what Head-Captain?” she whispers faintly.

His face illustrates sheer remorse. “You are going to inspect her body…”

Yua froze, staring incredulously up at the Captain Commander after hearing those words and he sadly bows his head. She opened her mouth to ask a million more questions but the area behind them crackled with the same immense spiritual pressure as before. She slowly turns her head and watches in complete horror as Kakura comes staggering down the hall of the barracks. His face was of absolute devastation, contorting in all forms of raw agony.

“Not her… not her!” He wails as other grieving captains try to help him walk. His emerald eyes are rounded and crazed spilling endless amounts of tears. The front of his shirt is stained red as he carried in his arms the limp and deathly pale body of...

“MIKAZUKI!!!” Yua screeched, her heart gave a painful lurch and shattered. She rushes to them and her face crumples in anguish with stinging hot liquid leaps down her cheeks. “Sh-She can’t be!” Kakura doesn’t notice her come to his side; he wouldn’t take his eyes away his sister’s face. Yua clutches onto his shoulder, looking down at his twins bloody form and gasps at the extent of the damage. Her whole body shook. Her mind fights against this trauma, flashing hundreds of memories of her best friend’s bright smile and beautiful laughter. Remembering when her dazzling emerald eyes were shining with humor and happiness. But they were all draining of color and life as her blurring eyes stared into cloudy and vacant ones.

“K-Kakura… I’m so sorry!” Yua chokes as more sobs came ripping through her throat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Would you like for me to assist you, Captain?” the lieutenant tried to keep the sad tenor out of his voice, but couldn’t hide all the heavy notes that slipped through his lips.
Yua stood rigid and motionless in the chilled autopsy bay. The middle of the sterilized area was lit by single bright light that shown over the table where her best friend’s body lay. She was standing outside the circle of light, staring unbelievingly at the still form from inside the darkness. “No…” she coughed weakly. “Thank you Nakama, but I’d rather do this alone.”
“Oh, all right then. I’ll be…” he paused as he saw Yua’s shoulders quivering. The sight triggers pain to fill his chest, and he frowns deeply. When he didn’t finish she turned her head with her brimming eyes locked onto his face. The lieutenant flinched at the intense struggle that the captain was waging to keep the flood from spilling more out and drowning her senses. She fought to arrange her face in a convincing brave, hard stare. He didn’t want to leave but he would follow her commands as always. The lieutenant released a low sigh and began stepping backwards toward the door. “I’m just outside if you change your mind, ma’am.”
She didn’t’ turn as he moved out of her line of sight. She instead listened to his receding footsteps until she heard the soft thud of his exit.
“I won’t.” she whispered before swallowing another tightening lump in her throat. Yua dropped her eyes to the floor and released the tension of her facial muscles back to her gray and numb appearance. Hesitantly she drags her feet to the counter where the equipment was kept.
Her body felt hollow as she washes her hands in scalding water and puts on her operating gown. Her mind is blank as she watches her arms moving slow and deliberate like they were on autopilot. She lifts her eyes as her hands move to the next task and feels the orbs ache sorely at such a small movement. They have become reddened and glassy, the blood vessels dilating from the heated tears. As she pulls a pair of long rubber gloves up to her elbows the ends snap sharply in the silent room, making them securely in place. Robotically, Yua puts on a hair cap, tucking the stray ends under the snug elastic band. Her covered fingers now pulled a paper mask over her nose and mouth, hiding the shining tracks that have burned into her pale cheeks. Next, she picked up a pair of wide goggles to shield the source of the tear stains.
Then she carefully gathers a tray of sterile tools she would need and a clipboard to record her findings on. Now that everything was ready she straightens up and catches the reflection of the traumatized body of Mikazuki in the glass of the cabinet door. Her face pales at the reality of what she was about to do and the pain sinks deep within her chest, a strangled sob laced with despair escapes from her lips. Yua held out her arms and braced herself on the cold counter, taking a deep shuddering breath.
She blinks away the moisture filling her eyes and picked up the tray coming to stand next to the illuminated gurney and places the shiny tools on the side table. Yua shutters as she stretches out her fingers, taking Mikazuki’s icy hand in hers. “This shouldn’t have happened to you!”
Breathing in and out evenly she starts external examination, carefully scouring every outer wound and marking them down in her file. Mikazuki’s unblinking face was busted and strangely ripped in places. Her mouth hung open slightly and her lips were smeared with dark dry blood. The healer narrowed her eyes. She zeroed in above her friend’s fixed half lidded stare and leaned a little closer, seeing something tiny glittering in the tangled hair. Without looking away she grabs a shiny steel thumb forceps. Gingerly she plucks a thin shard from her crimson lock. Yua scrutinized it and she was reminded of Mikazuki’s other battle she fought with Captain Hizano. She quickly opened a small baggy and sealed it inside. Thinking back on it they both had the same glittery particles on their clothes and skin.
“So we already have a ‘where’, the Crystal Canyons.” She whispers. “Why did you go back there?” her voice trembled as she looked back at her friends face.
Focusing back on her wounds she finds numerous cuts and punctures throughout her body. There was also evidence of heavy kido burn damage. She carefully removes her friends ripped and bloody clothing and stores them in more evidence bags. More wounds were revealed now, she discovers her skin has strange lesions and the gaping slash across her ragged back and bruising on her ribs and chest suggests that the cause was blunt force trauma. She looks across her cut up worn limbs, the dark edge around the wounds on her arms and legs prompted her to take a look at them through a magnifying glass and Yua frowns deeply at the familiar way the skin was sliced so cleanly through the skin and into the muscle that no blade could hope to equal.
Her blue eyes narrowed into slits and she straightens up quickly, her shaking hands balled into fists. These wounds matched the damage recorded from the captain’s last fight with…
“Azriel! You bastard!” She hissed as anger seized her like a plague. “You did this to her!” She hasn’t had a lot of experience in dealing with these types of wounds before; few have ever seen Azriel’s Zanpakuto’s power before. But the signatures couldn’t be forgotten. His shadows had certainly caused these abrasions.
Slowly and painfully she simmers down, “Two for two,” She frowns. “You really wanted to fight him again?”
She remembers the time when she had first healed Mikazuki and Hizano after their fight. Yua looks back on how her friend seemed distracted whenever they would both talk. Yua sensed that she felt responsible for what happened to Lieutenant Fai and maybe that was what drove her do it. But then she recalled asking her once while she was resting ‘Was there any pain left from those strange cuts?’ At first Mikazuki was quiet and acted like she didn’t hear her so Yua grew concerned. She was about to check her bandages again when Mikazuki quickly stopped her and gives a small smile, saying ‘I’m fine, honest!’ Her voice had sounded honest though her eyes weren’t so convincing.
“Was it more personal for you, Mika?” she asked sadly to deaf ears. “I wish that you would have told me”
Shaking her head, she continued to record each wound made. She notes their locations, measures out their size, and calculates the depth and trajectory.
The troubling things about these shadow injuries, though numerous and powerful, were they enough to kill her? Her concern was the new way her skin as a whole looked. The tissue was stressed in a way that appeared strangely torn. She has never seen this type of injury before! Mikazuki suffered huge damage from this alone, and Yua mentally cringes at what may lie beneath the surface. She pauses and takes a long steadying breath in preparation before shifting over to the internal examination phase. Her hand shook slightly as it drifted over the array of shiny utensils and picked up a razor sharp scalpel. The small blade felt too heavy for its size.
The healer furrows her sweaty brow in deep concentration, if she slips for a second and peeks at her friend’s face she didn’t think she would be able to go through with it. Her heart was pounding achingly as she makes the first stroke of the Y incision. The thin blade glides smoothly through her paled skin. She grits her teeth remorsefully and readjusts to make the second, connecting them at the center of the chest. Then the final cut is gently made down her torso. She exhales weakly and puts the knife down. Her gloved fingers hesitate before gently folds the cold membrane out of the way. Yua’s mouth fell open.
“Oh no, Mikazuki!” her eyes widen in horror.
The squad two captain’s insides were virtually completely decimated. The bones of her ribcage were all broken and they had been push out and around the chest cavity. Yua struggled to comprehend what she’s seeing as her gaze shift lower to what was left of her friend’s stomach and surrounding organs. They were ruptured and splayed grotesquely in splatters of blood that burst from the split arteries. Amongst the seeping organs Yua saw that the vertebrae in the spinal column were snapped as well as the pelvic bone. Her eyes blur when she tries to examine the heart and lungs, she had to remove the ruined chest plate. Being gentle as she could she lift it from the chest cavity and she found that they had burst like the others.
‘But what could have been the source of this?’ she thought perplexed. Azriel was concretely the cause of most of her wounds but this was not like his shadows. Though, she couldn’t rule out that he was capable of it. He is already immensely powerful, but what if there was another person responsible for the internal ruptures and trauma? It means that Yua wishes the Gotei Thir- …thirteen would never come across it. She shook her head miserably.
“I can’t stand to lose anyone else!”
Yua hung her head and quickly finished examining the remains of her organs for her report and replaces the chest plate where it belongs. She got the sewing kit and threaded string through the curved needle to begin suturing her body close. About half way done her best stitch work Yua glances up at Mikazuki warmly.
“I’ll have you all cleaned up for your brother when he comes to see you.” The corners of her mouth droop down at the thought of Kakura’s current condition. Should he be told about Azriel killing his sister at such a vulnerable time? Yua bit her bottom lip worriedly. On one hand he has every right to know, but if he knew and there was a chance that his emotional state drives him mad with thoughts and acts of revenge he could end up getting hurt or killed. And that was a risk she wasn’t going to take. Yua looks back at her friend. “I know you may not like it that we’re keeping this from Kakura but we’re going to protect him for his own good.” she affirms.
Finishing up she ties the end in a neat tight knot and then snips off the extra string. Yua takes off the first bloodied pair of gloves and washes up to put on new ones so she wouldn’t stain the cloth that she now pulls over her body up to her neck. She carefully and diligently goes to work to clean her face of dirt and excess blood and even combs out her long tangled mess of red hair straight. Lovingly like a mother would for her child. When she was all done she stepped up by her head and lightly touched her eyelids with her finger so that they are now closed.
Now with all the grime off her and the wounds less noticeable she almost looked as if she was sleeping soundly. Yua’s sniffed and pulled the mask down to reveal a sad smile. “I can’t believe this is happening, but I won’t say goodbye!” She leans over her slowly and places a kiss on her forehead. “Be at peace in your next life, Mika. My friend, my sister I’ll see you again! I love you!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yua cleans ups the works station and then takes of her scrubs. Throwing them away before she slowly washing up for the last time. Closing the door silently the head healer walks from the bay with her records tucked under one arm. Out in the hall of the hospital she sees most of the captains waiting anxiously for more news. All faces were some mixture of sadness, shock, anger and pain. She scanned them all, reliving the freshness of her own emotional state after first discovering her friend’s death. One of the most tragic faces wasn’t with them.

“Do you have enough information to give an accurate report on her body?” the Head Captain asked softly as he stood up.

She clears her throat. “Yes… Um, where’s Kakura?”

“He said something about needing some air and he went outside.” Luna murmured. “Teiko immediately followed after him.”

“Oh…” Yua lowered her worn out eyes to the floor.

Quidel lifts his tear dampened face and in a weak voice croaked out. “I can’t believe she’s really gone!”

“Me either…” Zurui sighs with his head resting in one hand.

Yua clenches her fist as she looks back up at them and solemnly ushers them into an unoccupied patient room and delivered her report on Mikazuki’s death.

“Now, please, I don’t want to tell Kakura this because I’m concerned about how he will handle it given his already fragile condition. So I’m asking that you all keep the information I gave you from him for now.” Yua states and they looked at her with disapproval at first. She looked pleadingly at them one by one and silently they slowly nod their heads. “If any of you get the chance to speak with Teiko alone please fill him in on the situation... thank you.”

----------------------------------------The Ugly Stench of Death-------------------------------

“I don’t understand, captain.” Kaguya muttered. “What is so pressing that we need to rush over for like this for?”

“Didn’t I already explain?” Hsien-Shao sighed as the two of them strode down the path toward the squad 2 barracks. “I felt the presence of the other captains gathering, including the head captain himself, and I feel that I should go as well, lest I be uninformed.”

“As if you’d care if it was just a bunch of them gathering together…” Kaguya pouted with her arms folded. “This is my break time, too…”

Hsien-Shao simply smiled at her in response. She was right, of course. If it were simply a spontaneous gathering, he would wait until later to hear the details, as he wouldn’t be in any hurry. But news had reached him of a severe causality, though it was simply a rumor among the squads. Some people were even saying it was a captain. Normally he wouldn’t put much stock in the gossip of the masses, but the recent aura of some certain captains he felt seeded some doubt into his mind. He wouldn’t be able to meditate properly if some rumors where bothering him.

“Pick up the pace, lieutenant.” Hsien-Shao prompted Kaguya as his own pace quickened. “The longer we take, the less of a break you’ll have.”

Kaguya, however, had stopped entirely, forcing Hsien-Shao to stop and turn back. Kaguya was staring off to the side, watching to figures walking on another path a ways from them. Neither seemed to notice them—the one ahead had his head down and was sulking as he dragged his feet. The other was following awkwardly behind, trying to find some way to comfort the first.

“That’s Captain Seishin and Captain Kurotsuki.” Kaguya said as she started forward. Hsien-Shao gently held her at bay with a hand at her shoulder, and Kaguya looked at him questioningly. Hsien-Shao was frowning at the two silently.

“What?” Kaguya demanded when Hsien-Shao didn’t say anything. After another moment of consideration, he shook his head.

“Dear Kakura doesn’t seem to be in the mood to accept whatever words we have to offer. Let the tenth squad captain try to console him—we first need to find out what happened.”

Kaguya grimaced as she looked from her captain to the other two and back again.

“What do you think happened?” Kaguya asked, her tone now curious. Hsien-Shao turned and began striding toward the squad 2 barracks again and she followed.

“I fear that the brutality of our latest causality was worse than simply the abduction of a vice-captain.” He muttered his answer at last as the approached the squad 2 barracks and entered swiftly. Captain Honoko was sitting patiently on the steps of the entrance to the hospital wards and stood as she saw the two arrivals.

“I thought you’d be coming, Captain Wong-Ling.” Her sad smile quivered ever so slightly as she spoke. Hsien-Shao took one look at her expression, witnessing the layer of composure attempting to hide a salvo of emotion—despair, anguish, grief, terror, trepidation—and Hsien-Shao knew his guess was correct.

“Dear god.” He muttered with a heavy sigh. “Are you alright?”

Yua shrugged. “I’m sure I’ll manage. But Kakura’s a wreck.”

“What exactly happened?”

Yua took a deep breath and began from the beginning; explain from when Captain Kurohyou had found Mikazuki’s body. Hsien-Shao’s expression did not change throughout the account, but Kaguya’s expression shifted from surprised, to fear, to determination. Her fists clenched in fury as Yua warned both not to tell Kakura about Azriel’s part in Mikazuki’s death.

“No wonder he was so bummed.” Kaguya gritted her teeth, fighting back angry tears. “And his sister died fighting the person she loved. Is that some kind of joke?”

Both Kaguya and Yua half expected Hsien-Shao to make some dry comment on how meaningless a death it was. Both were surprised, however, as he did not. They were even more surprised as Hsien-Shao moved forward and drew Yua into an embraced, resting the captain’s head against his chest for a moment.

“Captain Wong-Ling…” Yua murmured in awe as she looked up at the captain. Hsien-Shao shook his head.

“You had to cut open the body of your best friend today and had already lost another friend before my arrival. As the successor of one of your friends, allow me to show some compassion: you have my deepest condolences for your loss.”

“T-Thank you.” Yua stuttered, as Hsien-Shao drew away, not a sign of shame or embarrassment on his face.

“I realize we’re in a time of war now,” Hsien-Shao went on. “But I believe it would be appropriate to bury the body to honor our fallen comrade. It would be best.”

I feel I should mention, the gates surrounding the soul society are comprised of Sekki Seki, which neutralizing reiatsu. Ergo, he wouldn't have been able to work past the gate without lifting it somehow. This is simply for clarity, in case anyone else speaks of the gates in the future.

[Utter Dejection]

Kakura sat against the outer wall of Squad 4's barracks. His eyes were blood shot and red from all the tears he had shed and still more fell down his face. He was shaking from shock and his breathing was staggered and hoarse. Teiko knelt next to him placing a cautious hand on his shoulder. Teiko himself was stunned at what had happened. He was even in a miniature state of denial over what happened. He couldn't imagine life without the chirpy, happy-go-lucky captain, who was always there to lend a hand or an ear. His thoughts drifted to Kakura, not knowing what he was feeling or even thinking, which worried Teiko. He didn't know how Kakura would react to any attempts at consoling him.

Teiko: Umm...Kakura I...I... (He sighed, his emotions starting to get the better of him) Ugh, its unbelievable. She's the last person I'd expect to...

Kakura: (His right fist clenched, his knuckles turned white from how hard he clenched them) She didn't deserve to go. I knew something was wrong with her and I didn't ask her what was wrong with her, I didn't even get to say goodbye to her. The last thing I said to her was out of anger. I wish I got to apolo... (He started crying)

Teiko: (He put his arm over Kakura's broad shoulders, trying his best to console the now sobbing man) All right Kakura, just let it out. Let it out.

Passing shinigami, looked over at them both with mixtures of sympathy and sadness. Many offered their condolences, some respectfully walked past, leaving him to his sorrows.

Sometime passed before he finally calmed down. Teiko kept his arm around him, watching as he slowly raised his head. He sharply inhaled at the look her saw in Kakura's eyes. It was like a predatory animal's eyes before it went in for the kill.

Kakura: (His fist shook with the anger that radiated from every fibre of his being.) When I find the bastard that did this to my sister, I'll make them regret the very day they came into existence. He swung his cleched fist against the wall behind him, making a hard impact to it. Before he got up and headed through the barrack threshold, he looked back at Teiko and gave him a weak smile, but his eyes still showed the lingering sorrow that would remain until his dying day. Upon leaving, Teiko sighed looking up at the sky and just wondered about what everyone was going to do.

He made his way back to the room where his sister lay, secretly, but knowing that it was unrealistic, hoping it was all some crazy nightmare. However the looks in the faces of all he passed confirmed that this was not a nightmare, dream or crazy hallucination, but that this had all really happened. As he entered Mikazuki's resting place, he saw the lonely, and slumped figure of Yua, who just sat looking at Mikazuki's cold, lifeless body in stoic silence. Kakura quietly pulled up a chair next to her and sat down, doing exactly as Yua was doing, sitting, staring and thinking. They didn't speak for what seemed like an eternity, just staring at the person who they cared so much for. Kakura turned to find Yua starting to cry. He gently pulled her onto his chest, hugging her tightly and gently.

Yua: (In between sobs she spoke, her voice was filled with untold and unending sadness) Oh Kakura...Why her?.... Why her? She was one of the kindest people anyone could hope to meet and...and... (Kakura gently shushed her)

Kakura: I know. I know. She was beautiful, funny, quirky, honest...(He paused fighting back the urge to scream from the pain eating away inside him) I should have died before she did. Given half the chance, I would trade places with her if I could.

They both looked at the now eternally silent women lying in front of them. Pangs of bitter sorrow and anger eating away at them.

Kakura: You know Yua...I actually had a dream about her before she...she...died. (The word felt like venom as he spoke) I woke hearing her screams, but I only thought it was a nightmare. But instead, that nightmare turned out to be reality.

Yua: (She hugged Kakura back, feeling even more sorry for her friend) Kakura, what do you plan on doing now?

Kakura looked into her crystal blue eyes, feeling closer to Yua than he had before.

Kakura: Well...I was planning on holding a funeral for her, so we can say goodbye to her, then I'm going to train as much as I possibly can so I can kill the bastard that did this to her. (Yua nodded in agreement with him)

Kakura's eyes became hard, and anger filled but only for a few moments before his and Yua's eyes started to droop. Soon they were fast asleep. Having deep, despairingly painful dreams, which they shared, just like the loss of the closest person they ever had the pleasure to know and grow with. However, unknown to Yua or any of the other captains, this would the last time Kakura would ever be the Kakura they all knew.

The next few moments were suspenceful cause both sides were waiting for the dust to settle. When it did clear away, the two lieutenants were safe behind the Danku that Captain Shuichi quickly put up. The thing was, Kai wasnt behind the barrier.

Vyenna: Where did he.....

She was cut off by someone appearing behind her

He was pointing at her back in the area of her heart

Kai: Byakurai

The blast fired from his fingers racing towards Vyenna. She quickly moved out of the way but not completely. As she moved, the Kido got her in the left arm as a minor gash. Before she could think, the two lieutenants were on top of her. They both swung down with strength but Vyenna got her sword in the air to block.

Vyenna: You're going to have to do better than that

As the lieutenants shunpoed away, Kai shunpoed infront of her, lunging his foot forward, kicking Vyenna in the gut. The kick sent her crashing down into the lake below. A few seconds later she appeared above the lake dripping wet and and holder her gut

Vyenna: I guess you have what it takes to be a Captain but it doesnt change anything. In the end, you all will die.

Kai was standing there with a blank look on his face because he pretended not to read her lips. He stood there for about a minute or two before the silence broke due to the screams of the remaining Hollows.

Vyenna: Aren't you going after the Hollows

Kai: The other Soul Reapers will take care of them. To be honest, I really dont feel like doing this right now but i'll get yelled at if I dont

The Captain and the lieutenants surrounded Vyenna leaving her no where to go and all held up there hands to perform a kido.

All: Hado 33: Sokatsui!

The Hado raced towards Vyenna from three different angles clashing together resulting in a small explaosion

The water crashed upward, obstructing any view of the Shirub within it. Each Shinigami waited in anticipation for what was to happen next, and they got their answer. Vyenna broke through the towering wall of water, heading straight for Kai.

[Play Music]

The captain barely had the time to raise his blade to block Vyenna's strike. The Angel pushed back, distancing herself from the captain while the lieutenants watched on in awe. The Shirub flashed to Kai's left, prompting the Shinigami to turn to her, but she disappeared as quickly as she had come, kicking up water in her wake. She was now to Kai's left. Kaito and Kaiya flashed to spots beside Kai, each brandishing their blades as Vyenna continued her barrage of flash steps. They were dangerously fast now. There were three different apparitions of her. That was when she attacked.

Vyenna: Brats. You can't expect to give me pleasure in taking your lives if you fight nonchalantly. Give me your all, and I shall give you all quick, merciful deaths.

All three apparitions moved forward at similar, incredulous speeds. Each Shinigami was hard pressed to fend off the strikes from the Angel, Kaito and Kaiya receiving light, but still noticeable wounds in the forms of small gashes along their bodies. The Angel backed off just as Kai began to understand her movements, leaving him breathing slightly harder than before. The lieutenants, on the other hand, panted as blood ran from their wounds into the now rough water. All but one Vyenna disappeared.

Vyenna: Surrender and you will die. Hold back and you will die. Give it your all, and you will die. No matter what you do, there is no hope for you.

Kai: Oh? That might be your opinion.

Vyenna: Take out your headphones, captain...

Kai raised an eyebrow.

Vyenna: And show me your true power.

The captain rolled his eyes.

Kai: If you want me to release, I guess I'm gonna have to. But I warn you, it's pretty strong.

Vyenna pointed her sword at the captain.

Vyenna: I doubt it will do much for you anyway.

Kai: Fair enough.

Kai: Freeze.......Touketsu Naito (spirital pressure is released as his zanpakuto changes) Remember, you asked for it

Vyenna: Bring it

Kai shunpoed infront of Vyenna and gave a mighty swing of his zanpakuto. The force behind his swrod hitting her's sent her sliding back a few feet. Kai advanced forward swinging his sword all over the place trying to cut her. Kai got through her defences and went to slash at her gut. Vyenna flashes out of the way narrowly missing the blade.

Kai: Whats the matter? Regretting ever telling me to release.

Vyenna: Bastard !!! You will still die in the end !!

Kai: If I die, Im taking you with me

Kai and Vyenna flash steped to each other and clached in the middle. They were attacking and defending with great speed that the lieutenants could hardly keep up. Vyenna flashed to Kai's right and swung at her but it turned out to be a flash step clone. She appeared behind him and lunged her sword at him. Vyenna thought she stabbed him but all she got was his haori. She turned around to find Kai inches away from her. Kai flashed passed her, seconds later blood spits out of a cut on Vyenna's chest. At the same time, blood fom kai's back spits out.

Vyenna: You're stronger than I anticipatetd.

Kai: The feeling is mutal.......Damn

Kai unpluged his earphones and placed them in the inside pocket of his kosode

Kai: Battery's dead.

Vyenna: What a shame (sarcasticlly)

Kai flashed down to the two lieutenants

Kai: I want you two to return to Seireitei and get those wounds treated. I can handle things here.

Kaiya: Yes, Captain

Kaito: Right

Kaiya and Kaito flahed back to the Seireitei. Kai flashed back up to Vyenna

Kai: (inner monologue: If Im going to beat her, I need to get more power.....Why do I always get the toughest ones?) Time to end this

Kai places his hand over his face and spirital pressure build up. He moves his down and his Hollow Mask appears, increasing his spirital pressure

Vyenna: You can handle things?

Kai neglected to respond, instead opting to raise his large zanbato and point the edge of the great weapon towards his opponent.

Vyenna: Don't make me laugh, child. You're reiatsu increased a little. That's no reason to get cocky.

The Angel's own reiatsu flared

Vyenna: I will show you why you can never succeed.

She dashed forward, her blade colliding with the captain's. Sparks showered the ground as the two spun, parried, slashed and jabbed. Small droplets of blood began hitting the ground, causing Kai to curse to himself. He knew he wouldn't be able to match Vyenna for speed.

Kai leaped back about two meters, hoisting his blade above his head. It began to rotate, the edge whistling very silently as it cut through the air. The Shirub approached slowly, frowning. By now the fan-like motion of the zanbato had reached a blurring speed.

Kai: Shimo Harike!

Almost instantly, a large, bleached white hurricane enveloped the cliff. The water below began to freeze over as the captain swung his blade at an amazing speed. The frosty haze disappeared as the point of the weapon was driven into the ground. Kai's head turned from side to side as he hunted for where Vyenna may have gone. It was unnecessary, as Vyenna flashed to the front of the captain. Her stern expression displayed nothing but minor annoyance.

Vyenna: Crown yourself among the stars...

The Angel's katana, with it's white hilt wrap and spherical tsuba, began to, the whole thing, glow bright white. The air felt hot, and the ice that coated the ground and water melted at an unnatural pace.

Vyenna: Sutera Shihai.

A single, blinding burst of white light flashed by, then everything felt normal again. Looking to Vyenna, Kai took a step back. Her sword was the same shape, but the blade was glowing like the sun. The Shinigami also noted the two small spheres, one blue and one green, orbiting the spherical tsuba of the sword. They shined in the white light of the blade, and all in all, it was a beautiful weapon. He admired it, however slightly, until his opponent pointed it in his direction.

Vyenna: Takuritsu.

The blade glowed even brighter, forcing Kai to squint slightly, before a massive funnel of flames bellowed towards him. The stream of fire looped around the battlefield, obstructing everything with a blinding light before returning to coat the blade of Sutera Shihai.

Vyenna looks around the battlefield but finds no trace of the captain

Vyenna: I expected more of a fight from a captain. It turns out you were as weak as I thought

Kai came from the bushes and charged Vyenna from behind. She sensed his spirit energy and turned to block his attack. Turns out that was a flash step clone as the real one appeared infront.

Kai: Bakudo 63: Sajo Sabaku

The golden chains of the Kido wrapped around Vyenna, binding her arms

Kai: Bakudo 61: Rikujokoro

Six golden beams of light slame into her midsection, immobolizing her

Vyenna: All that waiting, for this

Kai: Limit of the thousands hands, respectful hands, unable to touch the darkness. Shooting hands unable to reflect the blue sky. The road that basks in light, the wind that ignited the embers, time that gathers when both are together, there is no need to be hesitant, obey my orders. Light bullets, eight bodies, nine items, book of heaven, diseased treasure, great wheel, grey fortress tower. Aim far away, scatter brightly and cleanly when fired

Ten pink energy beams appears around Kai

Kai: Hado 91: Senju Koten Taiho

The beams race towards Vyenna who cant move to dodge them. She is hit with the beams and is caught in the resulting explosion. Kai knowing she couldnt have survived it, removes his mask and re-seals his zanpakuto. Kai turns around to walk away but feels a slight pain after a few steps. He looks down to see Vyenna's blade through his abdomen. Kai flash steps forward and immediately drops to his knees and coughs up large amount of blood.

Vyenna: This fight isnt over

Vyenna's whole body is dripping with blood from the kido attack but she doesnt seem to care about it right now.

Vyenna: Im going to kill you. They should start looking for your replacement cause you're not leaving here alive

Kai gets up and turns to face Vyenna

Kai: Niether are you

They both run at eachother, blood dripping with every step they take. Kai and Vyenna unleash a flury of strikes, each connecting with the other. Kai flash steps back to catch his breath and takes off his kosode. He rips it and covers up his abdomen wound to stop the bleeding.

Vyenna: You're a tough one. That doesnt change the fact that only one of us will be leaving here alive and its me

Kai: Then it cant be helped.....

Kai held his zanpakuto horizontally in front of him

Kai: Bankai......

[A Final Farewell - Kakura's View]

[Play Music]

The Seireitei echoed with the sound of mournful music. Shinigami and nobles alike bowed their heads as the funeral procession proceeded past them. At the front of the mass of people was Kami Sureiya who was followed by Squad 2's 3rd, 4th and 5th seats, pounding mournfully at large drums, followed by Kakura, Quidel, Hsien-Shao and Zurui bearing between them a large white coffin, covered with a lavish array of flowers. They all bore the weight of the coffin stone faced without complaint, moving as steadily as they could, while trying to keep up with the drummers. Behind them were the rest of the captains, Yua and Teiko walking side by side, their faces sorrow filled, Nagashi, Hizano, Luna and Raiujin followed behind, all of them solemn faced. Following the captains was the rest of Squad 2, all of them trudged along keeping their heads up. Many of them were carrying flowers or banners adorned with the Squad 2 symbol.

The procession gradually made its way in the direction of a large hill, covered in a myriad of trees and colourful plants. Atop of the hill, are two head stones; the final resting place of Kakura's parents. However by the end of today they wouldn't be sitting on the hill top alone.

As they moved Kakura kept going over what he'd have to the face for the rest of his life.

Kakura: [Inner Monologue] I'm going to be on my own. I never thought Mikazuki would have gone before me. If anything I would have thought I'd die before her. But what now? The last remaining member of my family is gone.... I wonder if Mikazuki's replacement, when it comes to that anyway, will be able to fill her shoes.

Before he knew it they had arrived at the hill's summit. He and the other coffin bearers gently put the coffin down next to the grave, which was located next to the other Kurotsuki's. Kami took his place at the head of the grave while everyone else took positions around it. Yua stood next to Kakura, gently clutching his arm. He looked down at her, producing a fake smile for her as a comfort, she smiled back, equally as fake as they both intently listened to Kami.

Kami: We are gathered here, to mourn, and to say our final farewells to Squad 2 Captain Mikazuki Kurotsuki. Mikazuki was loved by all, a bubbly, cheery young woman who brought a smile to those around her. She worked hard, when she became a captain at least, (There were a few scattered laughs from this, mainly from the captains) and always loved to help those less fortunate than her, a splitting image of her mother....

The funeral kept on flowing, however Kakura was deaf to Kami's words, he just stared at the coffin, naïvely hoping that she would step out of the coffin like it was some stupid prank, yet also knowing that beneath the marble white, polished wooden surface, the body of his sister lay still. However sounds in the distance as well as raised spiritual pressure brought him back to reality. Yet he chose to ignore it, just like most of the others were doing. He heard Yua start sniffing, knowing she had started to cry. He hugged her, just like he had back in her barracks, trying to console her without the use of words. He wanted to cry too, yet some unknown feeling prevented him from doing so. He tried to listen to Kami again...

Kami:..She will be missed sorely by all those who have met her, talked with her, battled with her, lived with her. May she rest in peace. Farewell Mikazuki.

Everyone bowed their head to the coffin as Kakura, Quidel, Hsien-Shao and Zurui tied ribbons to the metal poles adorning the coffin. They then gently lowered it into the grave throwing the ribbons in with it. A flag with Squad 2's emblem was carefully folded and just as carefully dropped into the hole with her. Then Kakura threw a hand full of dirt into the grave which signalled the grave diggers to fill the hole. At this point, some members of Squad 2 raised the gravestone at the head of her grave. It was a plane jet-black thing made out of marble, with the details on the grave embedded into the stone with gold lettering.

After all this had been done most of the attendees bid their respects and left, leaving behind the Captains as well as some members of the Punishment Force who turned up out of the blue, bowing their heads to the gravestone as others placed flowers into the monstrous pile that lay all around it. After a few minutes they left, bidding their condolences to Kakura. The Captains all stared red-eyed at her final resting place, none being able to hold back the tears, all that is apart from Kakura, who at this point knelt in front of the marble block. His eyes hard, and cold. His emerald eyes dimmed. He gritted his teeth out of anger, inwardly seething at what the Shirubs had done to his sister and at the battle noises and the spiritual pressure that were interrupting his last chance to say goodbye.

Kakura: (He stood up, grabbing his zanpakuto handle, his eyes radiating savagery) That is really starting to piss me off.

Quidel: (He grabbed Kakura's arm) Kakura, no. Kai will take care of it, don't worry.

Yua: (She too grabbed Kakura, hoping to calm him down so he too wouldn't fall to the hands of the Shirubs) Kakura listen. If you go and you die, Mikazuki will be furious with you.

Kakura: (He turned to face her and Quidel, his emerald eyes radiating pure and unbridled hate) Yua! She's gone! She won't be furious because she can't feel anything any more! She is DEAD!

Yua let go of him as did Quidel. The face of every Captain was the picture of abject shock and surprise at his words. Kakura would never say a thing like that. At least the Kakura they knew wouldn't.

Kakura: Besides, I'm severely pissed off and there happens to be a Shirub over there. As opportunities go, this couldn't get much better. Now I can finally know who killed my sister.

He flash stepped off in the direction of the battle, his spiritual pressure flaring up.

The other Captains had to restrain Yua from following him. In the mood he was in, everyone was his enemy.

[An Inescapable Loop]

The cycle was continuing.

Hsien-Shao went through the funeral procession instinctively, not really thinking about it. He’d gone this ceremony enough times that his body remembered the monotonous movements. The coffin’s weight had felt heavier and heavier each time on his shoulders until he just didn’t feel it at all, unable to keep sparing the emotions for each death he witnessed. Was he desensitized to it? Or was he tired of caring? He couldn’t figure it out. The aura of depression from the others was thick enough to cut. He didn’t know what was the more disturbing fact to them. The fact that a captain had been killed or the fact that it was Mikazuki who had been? He could have asked, but he knew that it didn’t matter in the end. This was Soul Society’s karma catching up with it. One must always expect to lose a life when they take one. Once a life is lost, the righteous believe justice is on their side when they return the favor and take a life for the sake of revenge. Then the victims of the vengeance believe that justice is on their sides when they return that favor and another life is lost. The cycle is infinite, a circle of perpetual ego painted with the blood of the self-righteous. It had long since reached the point where all were right, and all were wrong. Of course, neither side would stop because of this. Not until destruction was the last one standing over countless corpses.

As Kami finished his speech, Hsien-Shao muttered the Chinese rites for the dead in respect for his deceased colleague. He knew what this was. It was the new blood of a new war. Perhaps some would argue that the war had started long ago, but there was no turning back now. All reason and possible negotiations would prove meaningless by this point, no doubt. They were all destined for hell, it seemed.

Hsien-Shao watched grimly as Yua and Quidel attempted to stop an infuriated Kakura from drawing his sword. It was like watching the same play proceeding before him over and over again, Hsien-Shao realized as Kakura snapped angrily at the two. He glanced over at the head-captain, wondering if he, too, was as weary of this cliché repetition that never seemed to end.

Yes, Hsien-Shao sighed once again as Kakura headed off to battle, leaving the captains behind. The cycle was continuing, and no one could stop it.

Kai: Touketsu Naito Koori Musha.

From the ground up, ice began to compile. It formed two massive legs, then formed a torso and finished with two arms and a head. The thing was an awe-striking sight to behold. Then, in perfect unison, the captain and his massive Bankai soldier both aimed the points of their swords at the Angel. Vyenna observed the spectacle, waiting for about five seconds in absolute silence. When she spoke, her voice was in full confidence. Almost mocking.

Vyenna: Is that all? Is this silly sculpture your Bankai? It's hardly worth laying an eye on. That technique I showed you earlier... It was merely a fraction of my power, and yet still enough to break this pathetic excuse for power. Now...

With that, Vyenna swung her blade slowly in front of her, and behind her sword's point followed a thin, faintly glowing white trail, as though she were drawing on thin air. The angle her blade traveled on changed several times, and at each one of vertices on the line, a small speck shining brightly as her sword appeared. When she finished her jagged, curvy line she drew a disproportionate square at the end. The sky darkened.

Vyenna: Draco.

Kai looked up to witness several stars appear in the now dark blue sky. The stars of a constellation. The stars that made up Draco. He looked back to his opponent, suddenly very interested in her ability. Though still, he maintained a cool, relaxed mood and waited. He needed to know what he was up against.

Vyenna: As expected, you are speechless. That is the true power of art. But beauty isn't it's only power. First of three constellations, Draco!

[Play Music]

The constellation in the sky remained, as did the unsettling darkness, but the shining constellation in front of Vyenna slowly faded, and the more it faded, the brighter and the redder her blade grew. When it had disappeared, her blade spewed out a large rope of fire. As it grew, it took the form of a slender, snake-like dragon, whilst still remaining attached to the blade. Despite the sudden increase in heat, Kai and his giant remained unfazed.

Vyenna: Say something. Or do you wish to die silently? Painlessly, perhaps? I can grant that wish easily, dear Captain. Draco... Bakuhatsu.

The fiery dragon on her sword let loose a roar that sounded as much like a wildfire as it did a bestial scream.

Vyenna: Fear not, Shinigami. It's over. You are forgiven.

Fire erupted from the monstrous demon's flaming mouth, and moments later the dragon itself became part of the torrent of fire that filled the battlefield.

[End]
over a year ago Zordaik said…
The river of fire crashed into the giant, and in response the behemoth braced itself and stood. Unmelting and unwavering. That was when Kai made his move. The captain flashed in towards Vyenna, who no longer had a massive dragon on her blade, and spun once. A cold wind picked up.

Kai: Shimo Harike!

As the hurricane began to pick up, Vyenna took a step forward and slashed at the captain. And her sword hit his throat.

Ice crumbled as the body of an ice clone fell into a heap.

Vyenna: What? Da-

The Shirub whirled about, her blade brandished, but she was milliseconds too slow as the edge of Kai's sword cleaved through the air and threatened to make a potent gash in her midriff. But his blade stopped very suddenly, as did the fire Vyenna's technique conjured.

[Play Music]

Kai: Huh?

A hand was holding Kai's arm still. Upon closer inspection, the captain noted how pale the skin of the enemy who had stopped him was. Suddenly, the assailant jerked on his arm and threw him away. Kai quickly recovered in the air and landed on one knee. Looking up, he locked eyes with a light skinned, slouching teen-looking man. His hair, a dark blue color, was uncombed and messy, and on his left shoulder he carried two unconscious bodies. Kaito and Kaiya!

Vyenna: Gilgamesh...

Kai got to his feet, shocked. These were two incredibly fast lieutenants.

Gilgamesh: Jeez. She fried you, didn't she?

Only then did Kai truly feel the pain of the burns he'd received from Vyenna's technique. His clothing was singed and still orange at some places, and his left arm had taken a devastating blow from the attack. He could have evaded and only taken slight damage, but his plan depended on her becoming overconfident.

Gilgamesh: You got sloppy, Vyenna.

Vyenna scoffed as she too several steps toward Kai.

Vyenna: That's hypocritical at the least, Gilgamesh. I-

She stopped speaking suddenly, her sword back in front of her. Gilgamesh laughed gently.

Gilgamesh: You feel it too, huh? Another clown coming forward to get his ass kicked.

The man dropped the unconscious lieutenants, then pointed a finger at the bodies.

Gilgamesh: Bakudo eighty three, Omoku Aiankyupora.

A giant cupola fell around the blacked out shinigami, obstructing them from view. Gilgamesh then turned in the direction of Soul Society.

Gilgamesh: I guess you don't want any help.

Vyenna: I will finish this myself.

Her reiatsu flared, and Gilgamesh shook his head.

Gilgamesh: Fine. I'll take out the shithead who's coming our way.

[As the Wind Blows on, the lives of many end in Sadness]

Teiko followed quietly, his head held unsteadily and gazing forward blankly. His eyes bored into the back of the Shinigami in front of him, his gaze following the same point on his back. He suddenly hung his head, his shallow sadness becoming much deeper than before. He slowed his pace suddenly, nearly coming to a stop several times before being urged on by his fellow shinigami. As he followed the casket, he tried imagining Mikazuki laying, silent and lifeless inside of the box. He choked, holding his hand to his mouth to stifle the sound. As he caught himself, many of the people in front of him turned their heads to glance at him, giving him short, sympathetic looks, and then returning to their solemn gait. As they drew near the hill where Mikazuki would be buried, Teiko had managed to pull himself together and stay somewhat quiet. He stood on the other side of Kakura, who, unlike most others, was not crying. Teiko cursed at this. Why isn't he crying?! It's his sister we're talking about! It's HIS sister we're burying!

Teiko shrugged the thought off and looked ahead as Kami made his way to the front of the rather large group of shinigami, standing still for a moment. As Kami began to speak, Teiko found that he was not able to listen. The words were only a buzz in his head, and he knew if he did listen, that he would break down. Nobody needed that, especially Kakura. Teiko though back to the time when he had followed Kakura out of the Captains meeting, trying to console him and get him to see through his sadness. Now, Kakura seemed blind to everything but the fact that his sister was dead, and that he wasn't able to stop the person that had done it to her. Teiko truly felt for him. As the ceremony dragged on, Teiko began to let his tears, the ones he had been holding back all of his life, flow freely down his face as they lowered her casket into the grave and placed ribbons within it. As they filled the hole, Teiko watched on, dismay and anger filling his eyes, pure sadness making his Reiatsu fluctuate. He followed the others silently, thinking to himself as he walked. He slowed to a stop as he heard the conflict ahead of him and peered forward.

"That is really starting to piss me off." Kakura said through gritted teeth. He placed his hand on his zanpakuto, beggining to slowly unsheathe the blade. Ouidel quickly grabbed Kakura's arms, forcing the man to look at him.

"No, Kakura." Quidel said firmly, though his eyes were still red. "Kai will take care of it."

Yua quickly joined the spiel, grabbing Kakura's other arm to try and calm him down. It was at this point that Teiko decided to see what was happening.

"Kakura, if you go and die, Mikazuki will be furious with you." She said gently.

Kakura rounded on her, his eyes blazing with fury and malice, his spiritual pressure suddenly skyrocketing. "Yua! Stop and Listen! She can't feel anything anymore because she's DEAD!" he screeched.

Teiko looked on in shock. Kakura would never say something like that, especially to Yua.

"Kakura..." Teiko started to say, before being cut off.

"Besides, I'm severely pissed off, and there happens to be a Shirub over there. As opportunities go, this couldn't be any better. Now I can actually find out who killed my sister."

And with that, Kakura was gone. Teiko blinked once, his hands balling into fists and shaking. His spiritual pressure was rising exponentially, until it was seething slowly but surely out of his body in big waves. The other captains turned to look at his face, shrouded by anger and sadness, but also full of understanding. However, Teiko was not in and understanding mood. Teiko began to get a running start, in order to go after him, but he was stopped by Yua and Quidel.

"He won't accept your help. Something's snapped, Teiko." Quidel stated flatly, though his tears continued to spill over. Yua put one had on Teiko's shoulder, turning him to face her.

"Quidel is right. If you go after him..." Yua trailed off, leaving her thought unfinished.

Teiko glanced at the sky, now dropping rain onto their heads and darkening the already dark mood that surrounded this place.

"I have to. I can sense it, the Shirub that is waiting for Kakura is a very powerful one. In fact, I recognize the spiritual pressure. I nearly died fighting the one Kakura will face soon enough."

The captains that surrounded him, all solemn faced and grim, all knew what he was thinking.

"I must help him, or Kakura will die as well. We don't need both of the Twins dying at one time."

All of the captains, apart from Hsien-Shao, Quidel and Yua backed away in order to give him space. Yua began to sniffle, fresh tears pouring down her face at the thought of losing them both. Quidel stepped back and as did Hsien-Shao.

And then, with one swift movement, Teiko was gone and after his friend.

Kai: (inner monologue: Damn. One was bad enough but now there is two. I dont think my Hyouketsu Shikyo will be enough to kill them. The only unknown variables are the strength of this new guy and who ever is comming to my aid)

He looks over in the direction of the Seireitei and gets an uneasy feeling

Kai: (inner monologue: Why do I have this feeling that something terrible just happened.....I need to focus on these two..........the girl is missi....)

Just then Vyenna appeared behind Kai swinging down her blade. Kai materialized his mask as he swung around to block the attack. The force knock Kai down to the ground, he hit the ground and bounced back up and shocked Vyenna. To her surprise, Kai was behind her and her arm left arm was sliced off.

Vyenna: YOU BASTARD !!! YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT !!!

Kai: Attack Now !

Touketsu Naito Korri Musha swung with his mighty sword destroying everything underneath it. Vyenna tried to block it but was sent through what was left of the cliff all the way to the river. Kai was lucky to get the lieutenants to safety before his Bankai attacked. Kai took off his mask and fell to his out off exhaustion.

Kai: Im at my limit. Its over for me

Gilgamesh: Looks like Im going to have to finish you off

Gilgamesh starts walking towards the captain but stops at the sight of Vyenna at the edge

Vyenna: I told you........I dont need your help

Vyenna stummbles over to Kai and raises her sword abover her head. She gets a smile on her face

Vyenna: DIE !!!!!

Vyenna swung her sword down at the defenceless captain. All of a sudden, her arm stops and a look of shock embrassed her

Kai saw the feet of someone else and looks up to see a familuar face

Kai: Right on time.......Captain Kurotsuki

Kurotsuki pushed away Vyenna's arm and delivered a hard right hand which knocked her back to Gilgamesh

Kakura: Captain Shuichi, I advise you to return to the Seireitei and see Captain Honoka about those wounds. I'll handle these two.

Kai: Do you think thats a wise choice

Kakura glaced back with an evil look in his eyes

Kakura: Dont argue

Kai: (inner: Those eyes.... He is out for blood) Fine, but let me give them a good-bye gift.

Kai: HYOUKETSU SHIKYO !!!

The giant extended his arm and a icy funnel came dwon from the sky and trapped Vyenna and Gilgamesh inside. Kai sheathed his sword and the giant shattered into falling snowflakes

Kai: That should for long enough. Good luck Captain

Kai grabbed the lieutenants and flash steped back to soul society. He was almost to Captain Honoka when fell unconscious and dropped straight to the ground with Kaiya and Kaito

[A New Man]

Kakura watched the two inside the ice funnel carefully. His stance was relaxed, but his eyes followed their every move. He watched as they stepped forth from the funnel like it was nothing. Vyenna raised her blade with intent to strike Kakura but Gilgamesh pushed her back.

Gilgamesh: (He stood slouched, holding his zanpakuto handle) Well, well, well. It seems another Captain has to try and beat us. You do realise that your heading to your own funeral right?

Kakura: (His eyes scanned him showing not much in the way of emotion.) I think one funeral is enough for today, but I think we can spare another for you and that whelp behind you. Though what little will be left in remains will be difficult to identify. Maybe that bitch, Sekhmet, can help.

Vyenna: (Her eyes radiate untold fury at his words) How dare you besmirch Sekhmet-sama's name, with your filthy shinigami tongue.

Kakura: (His eyes lock with hers, forcing her to flinch at the amount of anger in them) Shut your mouth. If I remember correctly, I didn't ask for your opinion and I surely wouldn't care if I did. In any case, your friend seems like challenge unlike you. so kindly sit down, and keep your fat trap shut.

Gilgamesh: (He smiled devilishly, noticing the anger laced in his words) Well, someone's got themselves into a nasty little temper, haven't they? What's got you so uptight, eh?

Kakura: (He threw off his Captains' Haori, cracking his knuckles afterwards.) Well, all that fighting interupted my sisters funeral, so I've decided to come and kill the people causing said noise.

Gilgamesh: Uh huh. Really? Your a bit full of yourself aren't you?

[Play Music]

Kakura flashed to within an inch of Gilgamesh. Both men, staring into each others eyes, unflinching.

Kakura: Not really, it just makes me confident in my own abilities.

He flung out a swift right jab, causing Gilgamesh to quickly back track across the dusty, ice riden floor. Kakura followed him briskly, again throwing a right jab, before catching Gilgamesh on the cheek with a powerful left hook.

Gilagamesh slid to his left a few paces before rubbing his face and lunging at Kakura with a rapid flurry of punches, which Kakura blocked and evaded simultaneously, before kicking Kakura square in the chest, sending him skidding back a few paces.

A matter of minutes went by with the two combatants trading blows evenly, both not showing any signs of fatigue. They both leapt apart from each other, locking eyes and both simultaneously drawing their zanpkauto. Gilgamesg stood slouched and relaxed, while Kakura stood up straight, watching carefuly for any sudden moves.

Gilgamesh: Hah, your more of a challenge than those other clowns I fought back in the Human World. Man, they couldn't hold a candle to me.

Kakura: (He laughed, relaxing himself) I should hope so. All those years of training should have done me some good. However, I hope we can wrap this up quickly, we've got an unwelcome interuption coming our way.

Gilgamesh: Your a pretty cold man to talk about a kid like that. You remind me of Azriel a little you know. You show little in the way of feelings and your far colder than he is.

Kakura: This is what death does to you. Unless your already a heartless bastard, you end up becoming one. Besides, what's Teiko going to do? Help me? He's gotta realise playing hero isn't a smart move. and even then, I don't like fighting against another with help.

Gilgamesh: (He raised an eyebrow at his statement) A man of principle I see. Though your going to need all the help your going to get, otherwise you'll die.

Kakura flashed towards Gilgamesh, bringing down a powerful slash onto his opponents raised blade, watching as sparks flew from the impact.

Kakura: I haven't been a Captain this long without being able to fight small time punks like you!

He carried on agressively smashing his blade into Gilgamesh's, before quickly booting him in the stomach and following with a powerful swing at his neck. Gilgamesh back tracked before lunging in with his own attack, aiming to pierce his stomach. Kakura swatted the blade away with his free left hand before stabbing Gilgamesh clean through his shoulder, before suffering his own wound in the same location.

Kakura withdrew his blade, grabbing Gilgamesh's sword arm, and hitting him square between the eyes with his hilt before sharply moving his hand up gilgamesh's arm and thrusting his palm into his exposed throat, causing Gilgamesh to cough and splutter.

Kakura: Get the message now? (His voice sounded ominous as he spoke his next words) I don't need any help!

Sekhmet, Zalbeseal and Azriel betrayed the Soul Society and the Shirub began to arise, deciding to have their revenge, for their people being destroyed by the Soul Society. Now, the Shirub are capturing Vice-Captains for some unknown purpose and us Captains are trying to figure out a way to stop the Shirub from having their revenge. Not to mention, Mikazuki was killed by Azriel and her body was found by Zurui.

(Shadow... Weren't you going to update the characters? You are the only who can and it would really help. XD)

~*~*~ {Play Music Please} ~*~*~

Quidel tightens his grip on the flower adorned white casket that rests on his shoulder. Being careful about carrying his dear friend as the funeral slowly journeyed down the crowded street. Souls came from near and far, wanting to catch a last glimpse of their beloved Squad Two Captain and say their goodbyes. Looking off on his side, all the faces young and old were in a state of utter melancholy. It was so surreal knowing that she wouldn’t be with them anymore. Mikazuki was so good, beautiful, smart and brave! The liquid brimming over his eyes were blurring his vision and the Seventh Squad Captain exhales sadly. With a rub of his sleeve, the evidence to his heartache is dried, he tries to calm himself and continue marching gently in step to the somber music drumming near the front of the gloomy convoy with the other bearers, Zurui and Hsien-Shao.

The casket’s living twin, Kakura, was the fourth bearer and was walking steadily in front of him, supporting his share of the weight in complete silence.

‘How is he able to keep it together like this?’ he wondered.

The squad four captain trails woefully behind them, keeping a respectful distance from the coffin. As Mikazuki’s funeral procession slowly climbed up the sloping path to the top of the hill, Yua couldn’t help but think about how the twins had both walked this same path to visit their parent’s year after year. Her sore eyes grew misty. Now, the brother surrenders his sister so she will stay with them in eternal sleep.

Eventually the path ended and the crowd came upon the Kurotsuki’s resting place and gathered around as the casket was lowered on the grass next to the freshly dug grave. Quidel eases the weight off him and at the same time they set Mikazuki carefully at their feet. He straightens, and paused grimly as he glances at the deep cave they’ll be placing her in. It looked like the dark throat of a monster that would swallow her whole. The presence of the Head Captain made him snap out of those thoughts and he humbly turns to stand with the captains, taking a spot by Luna and Hizano. He felt Luna cringe as another surge of Kai’s and the Shirub’s spiritual pressure blasts skyward and sends rumbles over the hilltop. Quidel looked over and could easily see her tension.

“He’ll be alright.” He whispers to her reassuringly.

Luna inhales, trying to relax in her body. “I know…”

On the other side of the circle, Yua heads straight to Kakura who was waiting for the service to start without a hint of emotion written on his face. She stood quietly by his side, kindly holding onto his arm. Yua sensed Ezretha moving through the crowd, his wounds have been healing nicely but the emotional pain of losing his lieutenant was still raw on his face. Yua winced when their eyes connected. As if he was able to transfer what he was feeling to her by just a single look. She turned away sadly and noticed Kakura offering a smile to her, it didn’t touch his eyes. She searched his face quickly and knew that it was false but the act was appreciated none the less. Yua reciprocates and shows him a simulated one of her own. They both looked to Sureiya as he drew everyone’s attention and a hush fell over the people when he began the eulogy.

“…was loved by all, a bubbly, cheery young woman who brought a smile to those around her. She worked hard, when she became a captain at least…”

Unexpectedly a chuckle broke from Quidel’s lips ending in a sad sigh. He clamped his hand over his mouth. It was absurd that he could laugh during such a sad event and he quickly composed himself in respect to Kakura. He agreed with all the head captain’s words, Quidel also remembered how she still had time for play. His mouth twitched in reminiscence, he never thought he would miss her pranks so badly! His ribs expand as he took a deep breath; they had been a favorite target of hers. They seemed to beg for one more jab. And greedily, he wanted to hear one of her heated yells sparked by yours truly one last time. Mikazuki’s anger never really affected him like she meant for it to, she actually was kinda cute when she got mad at him. A blush appeared on the captain’s face. That’s why he would sometimes be the instigator, besides the fact that it was fun. He frowned suddenly, feeling a pang of guilt and prayed to her that if he had ever truly upset her he apologized strongly for his actions.

As Kami’s moving tribute continued Yua shivers slightly at the polished white coffin thinking of the wonderful being sealed inside and a deepening depression swelled inside her heart. Not ready to see her friend be buried six feet under. She knew she was blessed to have known Mikazuki for so long, but she wished that it never had ended. From the first day of class in the academy to the many long years spent as captains, Yua’s time with her had been filled with happiness. But in one dark instant the many possibilities of her bright future were ripped cruelly away. She feels the tears coming at the reality of the tragic scene in front of her. Dropping her gaze to her feet she bit her lower lip as a whimper left her throat. She felt Kakura move and the tears fell harder as he quietly wraps her in an embrace, rubbing her shoulder soothingly. She returns the hug and presses her face against his chest to muffle her bitter sobs.

When the speech ended Sureiya gave the dreaded signal. Quidel braced himself, Zurui and Hsien-Shao walked by and he followed them to prepare the casket. Little by little they lowered her into the deep grave until a soft thud was heard. He stood back and watched weakly as Kakura stoically throws sand into the hole and let the gravediggers take over. Each shovel full made them flinch; the hissing sound of falling dirt would forever haunt their nightmares. Quidel closed his eyes painfully; they were burning hot with flooding tears. He fights to keep them all inside but some slipped quietly by his defenses and made shining tracks down his face, the fat beads gather under his quavering chin and splashed onto his chest.

After the grave was covered a sleek marble tombstone was mounted and mourners showered Mikazuki’s name in flowers. Soon it was just the Gotei 13 standing watch over their fallen comrade, saying silent goodbyes as Kakura slowly walked up and dropped to his knees in front of his sister. Minutes went by and he remained motionless, almost as if he also turned to stone. All the while, booms of the distant fight echoed in the air around them.

“That is really starting to piss me off…” He stirs finally and slowly gets up, drawing his blade forebodingly.

“No, Kakura!” Quidel raised his eyebrows and strode over to grab his arm firmly, stopping and turning him around with caution. “Kai will handle it, don’t worry!”
‘He shouldn’t leave his sister so soon.’

Yua looked between the two men and hurried to the squad 13 captain’s side, seeing that Quidel was not getting through to him. She slowly places her hand on his other arm.

“Kakura, listen to me…” She softly gives him a reason not to go with her next words, being careful and sincere. “If you go and you die…” her eyes shift to the black tombstone. “Mikazuki will be furious with you.” She looks back at him after feeling him become rigid and she touches his arm more compassionately. Then his hard muscles vibrate uncontrollably and his aura surged and darken, her gentle expression transformed into uneasiness.

In a movement so sudden Kakura twists his body and throws a heated glare at her, his handsome face contorts and he bares his teeth in a violent grimace. His voice roared like thunder over the hill top with searing anger and loathing.

“Yua! Stop, damn it! She won't be furious with me, she can't feel anything anymore! Know why?! Because she is DEAD!!

Her eyes widen and she gasps startled out of her mind at the viciousness of his outburst, each syllable cut into her mercilessly like serrated blades. The healer feels where her trembling fingers still clutched him, a subzero chill emanated there and ran up her arm. It was a deep kind of biting cold that could ice over blood and bones and simultaneously burn the skin. She couldn’t pull her scorched hand away fast enough when she takes a wobbling step back from the man towering over her.

The silence that followed the piercing explosion rings loudly in her tender ears. Quidel narrowed his bloodshot eyes and shakes his head at the older male captain, appalled. Yua’s stunned gaze travels from Kakura’s tightening fists to focus back on his hostile face and she flinches inwardly at seeing his fiery eyes become cold and solid, carved pitilessly into the stone they resemble. Anguished tears trickled down her cheeks.

‘Who are you?!’ she wanted to yell but couldn’t find the strength. ‘He is so different… something changed horribly in him!’

“Besides,” he growls and she couldn’t believe how unrecognizable his voice was! She slips into a daze but some of his anger still echoed slowly in her mind. “I'm severely pissed off and…” the rest of the sentence becomes muffled as she watches him turn and point his sharp zanpakuto off into the distance. “… to finally know who killed my sister.”

Electrical jolts fire off through her body at that. Her heart clenched painfully as it recharges and then hammers wildly inside her chest.

“Kakura, please!” She reaches out just as his image disappears, making her fingers grab nothing but the gust of cooled air in his wake. “No…” Yua whispers, feeling his unsettling spiritual pressure flow like a tsunami in the direction of the fight. She staggers further, about to use shunpo. Quidel sees her about to take off and quickly flashes forward to wrap his arms around her from behind and began dragging her back. He knew that it would be a very unwise decision to impede the angry captain.

“It’s no use, Yua!” His voice was gentle in her ear but he nearly lifts her off her feet as she struggles to get out of his grip. She could kick Kakura’s ass for screaming those terrible words over his sister’s grave. Her stinging eyes blinks away tears and she chokes out a thick sob. It was a brief temptation, more violence wasn’t the right answer, but maybe a good slap across his face would do later. After what just happened she was doubtful he would even care to hold everything back if she tried to stop him. Yua was more worried about when he finds out who his sister’s killer is.

“Quidel! Let go of me!” She claws to free herself. “He can’t do this!” She gnashes her teeth together bitterly, fighting to hold back the screams of frustration and despair boiling up inside. If he was this explosive now what will happen when the truth hits him. What destruction would it do to him? This dreadful thinking sends shivers throughout her being. Kakura’s future suffering and violence absolutely terrified her. She can’t let him slip away. She has to do something to make sure he comes back safe!

“Shhh!” He sets her down a few paces away and turns her to look squarely into her glistening eyes. Quidel holds her shoulders securely. “Kakura’s lost so much already! Nothing will stop him now!”

She shot him an exasperated look. “You think I don’t know that?! He’s unstable, he-he-”

“-won’t listen to anything you say,” he boldly interjects. “Which means it’s best to stay out of his way.”

She was about to argue back but froze when a powerful spike of spiritual pressure erupts from the crowd. They turn seeing Teiko prepare to bolt after his friend. His jaw was set and his hands clenched tightly as he starts forward in a furious sprint. Without hesitation the two squabbling captains flashed in front of him to stop his progress. Teiko skids to an abrupt halt and stared at them questioningly with haunted eyes.

The 7th squad captain spoke first. “Don’t Teiko. He won’t accept your help. Something’s snapped.”

Yua looks up at Quidel’s tear drawn face and sighs silently. She couldn’t disagree with him there. She placed her hand on Teiko’s shoulder and he shifts his dark cobalt eyes on her.

“I’m sorry but Quidel is correct. If you go after him…” She couldn’t bring herself to say the rest.

Drops of ice cold sprinkles started to fall and land on their heads. Yua breathes in the sweet scent of rain, but couldn’t find any joy in it as the dark clouds rolled ominously overhead. Teiko didn’t seem to be daunted by their words. His face was determined.

“I have to, I can sense it!” He frowns before he goes on. “The shirub waiting for Kakura is an immensely powerful one. I recognize his spiritual pressure from before, I almost died fighting him and now Kakura is about to face him!”

Yua’s face grew pale as a ghost. His words brought a fresh wave of terror crashing down on her.

“I must help him or he may die.” He looked the saddened faces of the captains surrounding him. “We don’t need both the twins dying at one time...”

Teiko spiritual pressure rose again and most of the others backs away a step. He turns and vanishes just as a crash of lightning lights up the sky. The rain starts pouring now and within seconds the captains are soaked to the bone.

Quidel stood in silence, frowning and pandering at the spot Teiko had just departed. Then, he twists his head around to glance back at Mikazuki’s grave.

“Sayonara my friend!” He whispered and turned briskly to walk off.

“Come on…” Luna walks to her side and touches her arm, easing Yua away, from the grey hilltop and back to her barracks. She went with Luna in defeat, slogging miserably down the now muddy road they climbed up for the funeral. When they finally reached the steps leading to the front doors Yua thanked her and went inside to prepare herself and her medical staff for if the battling goes south…

Gilgamesh rubbed his throat as he stepped back. He regarded Kakura with a gaze of annoyance, but there was no anger. No hatred.

Gilgamesh: You don't need help, and I'm a small time punk, huh? You know, for being so strong I didn't expect you to be this full of shit.

Kakura: Shut your goddamn mouth, you bastard. You'll need every breath you can spare.

Gilgamesh: Tsk. I'm trembling . What, you think you stand a chance because you're nice 'n pissed off?

Black reiatsu began forming around the wound on the Shirub's shoulder. It filled the hole before solidifying into flesh and skin, performing a shabby healing job, but a healing job nonetheless.

Gilgamesh: Damn. That technique takes a lot outta me. I'll make sure you don't get another shot in, though. Don't worry.

The two rushed at each other at a speed impressive for even captain and Angel. Their blades met once in a resounding clash, then the speed of each strike and parry was ridiculous. Kakura took a single step forward, and Gilgamesh retreated backwards one before being greeted by the point of his opponent's sword.

Gilgamesh: Don't get cocky!

The man moved his head millimeters to the left of the incoming blade, then closed in for a jabbing attack. Kakura fluidly sidestepped the attack, but Gilgamesh's edge rotated ninety degrees right from facing the ground and whistled towards him in a slashing motion. Taking a stumbling step back, Kakura hastily raised his blade to block the slash. For a moment, the two looked each other in the eyes.

Gilgamesh: So, you lost your sister, huh?

Kakura's reiatsu flared at the mention of Mikazuki. The pressure he put on their blades was enormous, big enough to force Gilgamesh to run backwards several paces. The man quickly stole another forward step before clashing once again with the angry captain. They faced one another once more, blades trembling under the tremendous force each side exerted.

Kakura: Do not ever speak her name again. Don't even dare to-

He stopped suddenly. Something about Gilgamesh's eyes confused him. They seemed different. But only for a moment, then they were back to the cold eyes he had been fighting against for the whole battle. The force behind each katana picked up twofold, and the ground began rumbling.

Gilgamesh: Then I'll give you the mercy you want.

Both swordsmen pushed away from each other, skidding along the ground. They no sooner zoomed back at one another, and as they drew near, Gilgamesh flashed a smile.

Gilgamesh: I'll let you join her in death. I'll free you!

Their sword clashes came in rapid succession, each collision followed by a small eruption of reiatsu while Vyenna watched, blade sheathed, from the edge of the cliff.

[Coming of the Apocalypse!]

(Zurui exited the funeral procession, noting that reiatsu had begun to flare in the distance. It seemed that Kai Shuichi and Kakura had engaged opponents and were fighting. The funeral had been fine, but Zurui thought everyone had been incredibly emotional and that made him feel bad. He had barely even known Mikazuki Kurotsuki, she had always been a Captain as long as he had been a part of the Court Guard squads and he never earnestly talked to her, excluding that one time, after she and Yua had fought Azriel. He couldn't shed any tears over her, it would have seemed odd if he had done so, but even so, he still couldn't feel anything over her death, besides a strange empty feeling, like he had missed out on friendship for far too long. Maybe he should have been a friend to her, then maybe she would have been okay. Her brother had always been there for her and yet, that had not been enough. Why did he think that him being friends with her would help then? He didn't know, he was in a strange mood. Somber and morbid as hell. Zurui finally found where the other two had begun their conflict, only to see Kai leaving and Kakura and Gilgamesh clashing their swords together. Finally, Kakura made the wrong judgement and Gilgamesh bulled through, knocking Kakura through the air, then slicing into his arm. Zurui shunpoed closer, intending to to hear their dialogue.)

Gilgamesh: Your anger, Captain, will simply lead to your defeat. Did you honestly think that you would be able to defeat me, just because you are angry? Anger never gives strength, it always brings recklessness and weakness and I'll prove that right now...

Kakura, looking ready to explode: Bastard!!! I'll kill you, just you wait and see. I want revenge for Mikazuki and killing you will at least make me feel better for a bit!

Gilgamesh: You don't learn, do you?

(Kakura's rage grew and grew, the outline around his body glowing, as his reiatsu flared with anger. The Captain shunpoed and smashed his blade into Gilgamesh's, who parried it, then swiped Kakura's blade away, disappeared and attacked from above. Kakura managed to block it and slashed fiercely back at Gilgamesh, until he began to pant slightly. Gilgamesh grinned, his eyes becoming different suddenly, then back to normal once again. Kakura blinked, confused by the odd feeling he felt when that happened, then they began fighting again, until Gilgamesh diappeared again and brought his blade around a vicious circle and just managed to catch Kakura, drawing a small ribbon of blood and ruining his concentration for but a moment.)

Gilgamesh: You are getting slower. You have no chance, if you can't even handle me as is.

Kakura: You'll find out.

Gilgamesh: No, that is my line. You will be the one find out, my angry friend.

(Gilgamesh suddenly changed, his temperament getting colder by disposition and kicked Kakura brutally, sending him crashing into the ground below, creating a large explosion of dust. Zurui decided to step in, though he knew Kakura would be furious, now was not the time to be acting foolish.)

Zurui: And we meet again... This time under very different circumstances. Just who are you, exactly? Your eyes... They are so cold, yet you seem to be able to focus them at the oddest of times. I don't understand you.

Gilgamesh: And the bug returns. You want your ass kicked too?

Zurui: That is assuming you would be able to handle such a task. Personally, after what I have been through since we last met, I doubt you have any chance at all.

Gilgamesh: Arrogant, as usual. You Shinigami are all the same. Let's see how you go then.

(Gilgamesh and Zurui clashed, their Zanpakutous sparking furiously. Zurui parried each blow expertly, exerting no real effort to glance away the fluid attacks that Gilgamesh seemed to be capable of. Finally Gilgamesh paused, flared his reiatsu and then rushed back in for the attack. They clashed again, but this time Gilgamesh's blows seemed to be much more powerful and Zurui began to have a tougher time. They separated and eyed each other.)

Gilgamesh: You seem to have at least become a bit stronger and you don't let emotion influence your fighting. You may be a dangerous opponent, but, don't forget that you and me seem to be alike in a few small ways. Neither of us let anger get in the way of fighting and we both respect those with great power. You are intriguing, Shinigami Captain. On the other hand, you still display that typical arrogant Shinigami way by trying to fight me.

Zurui: As are you, Shirub. I feel like I understand you a little more now. However, I am not arrogant, I am simply helping a fellow Captain out.

(Gilgamesh snorted and renewed his attack, leaping over Zurui and swinging his blade at the Captain's back. Zurui pirouetted skillfully, blocking the attack and then slicing back at Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh's eyes hardened and he kicked Zurui in the stomach, forcing him backwards, then swung at him, only just missing him. Zurui stood, his abdominal muscles feelings slightly bruised, then shunpoed and just managed to cut through Gilgamesh's clothing and into his shoulder, drawing a small ribbon of blood. They clashed again, brutally, casuing their blades to spark. Suddenly, the Shirub technique of dimension travel opened behind him and Zurui felt an immense reiatsu appear. The reiatsu was of a youngish looking woman, with red hair and a huge spiritual pressure. Zurui assumed that this was the former Captain, who had defected from the Soul Society.)

Gilgamesh, bowing his head: Princess...

Teiko tensed, as he saw Gilgamesh bowing. He had been crouching in the shadows, completely aware that they knew he was there. The last thing he wanted was to be anialhated by his fellow captain, so he had stayed put, against his better judgment, however. As he saw her materialize and step out of the gate, his whole body flared with intense emotion, causing him to nearly leap from his perch atop the cliff in the distance. Gilgamesh slowly raised his head and upper body, turning to face Aosu completely as she sauntered towards him. Teiko gritted his teeth, seeing her act so nonchalant. It mad him want to slap some sense into her. But as he thought back to his nightmare, he shrank again, realizing that he still had a ways to go before he could even be on par with her, let alone kill her.

"Kakura Kurotsuki." Aosu stated flatly. "How... unexpected." Gilgamesh smirked, chuckling lightly at this.

"You should count yourself lucky that she hasn't burnt you to a crisp yet." Gilgamesh cooed lightly, laughing between words. Kakura snorted.

"Shut your mouth you filthy Shirub."

Gilgamesh recoiled. "Filthy?" he furrowed his brow a bit more than usual, exaggerating his annoyance. "If anyone's filthy here, it's you, Shinigami."

Kakura merely snorted, his eyes betraying only anger.

Aosu stood quietly, not phased even in the slightest by his glare. "So, I heard you lost your sister." she said, her voice seething and insulting nature. "Thats too bad." she finished as she nicked her tongue. "And she had so much potential. However, it cannot be helped. She is dead now, and if you can't fight your way out, you will be as well."

Kakura growled, his spiritual pressure suddenly flaring. "SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" he screeched, lunging for Aosu, his eyes near the point of being Emerald flames. Zurui looked on, wide-eyed as Kakura raced past him and completely knocked aside Gilgamesh, who had been caught by complete surprise.

It was at that point that Teiko stood up and flash stepped directly in front of Kakura, who growled at him as he skidded to a halt. Teiko stood, his glare boring into Kakura, who held his gaze easily and without flinching. Teiko stood silently for a moment, before turning his body halfway around, and swiveling his head, in order to look at Aosu.

"Long time no see, Sekhmet." Teiko whispered.

[Trial by Fire]

(The atmosphere abruptly becomes flooded by an overwhelming spiritual pressure, forcing all to surrender their attention. The air swells as the energy imposes its reach throughout the Soul Society. Lesser forces yield and bend to the tremendous weight inflicted by this stifling spiritual pressure. All those present inhale deeply, bracing the onslaught.)

Sekhmet: (She exits the gate, stepping on Soul Society soil. She is different somehow. Her expression is brooding and laced with aggravation. ) ENOUGH (she demands with a flare of her spiritual pressure). You think you can simply leave Shirubaraito without me noticing? How dare you!

Gilgamesh: Sekhmet-dono we…

Sekhmet: Don’t…(she delivers her response quickly in a deep, ominous tone).

Vyenna: (her body collapses into itself, her knees colliding with the soil. She bows her head, pleading for forgiveness without so much as a word).

Gilgamesh: My deepest apologies. Please…forgive us. Vyenna…we...wanted to make impressive strides, in an effort to soften your heart. I know it aches from…

Sekhmet: Your progressive attitude is commendable, but your decision to venture into enemy territory without permission, especially at this stage of the operation, was unwise and insulting. Now…stand! (She watches as they slowly raise their bodies, taking notice to their hesitation to establish eye-contact. Without turning to face Kakura, she blocks his efforts with a pre-established barrier.) Of course you’re here, Captain Kurotsuki. As to be expected. Like any pest, you seek out any opportunity for which you can be a source of irritation.

Captain Kurotsuki: I…I am going to savor the moment when my blade pierces your flesh and shred you slowly, so you may feel every movement of my blade’s edge.

Sekhmet: (she laughs softly, mocking Kakura’s gruesome threats) You’ll die before you are afforded that opportunity. I believe your sister used to preach the same threats. Let’s take a moment to examine how well that behavior treated her.

Captain Kurotsuki: You vile, treacherous bitch. I am going to slaughter you. (Kakura’s spiritual pressure explodes, imbuing his next swing with powerful, vibrant energy. It shatters the barrier with ease, but is halted by Sekhmet’s blade).

Sekhmet: We’ve been through this, Kakura. You’re unable to cut me because in this game of strength, you come out awfully short. (She thrusts her arm forward, forcing Kakura backwards) Set the air ablaze…Cenusa Fuoco (she gracefully glides her blade through the air as it erupts into flames, pumping searing energy in and around her). Achaeco… (Sekhmet’s words echo throughout the battlefield, opening wounds of betrayal that have not yet fully healed. Kakura’s stare focuses on the flames as they rapidly approach him. He stands his ground, despite the tremendous heat.)

Captain Kurotsuki: (To his benefit, Kakura’s trance is shattered by the brute collision of a comrade. He is sent diving into the ground, escaping certain death at the hands of the dancing flames of Cenusa Fuoco. He looks up into the concerned face of Captain Zurui Kurohyou). Zurui…

Captain Kurohyou: You can thank me later, Kakura. Now get off your ass and help me fend off those flames.

Captain Kurotsuki: (He shoves Zurui forcefully onto the ground, scowling angrily). I don’t want or need your help. I can take this bitch on all by myself. She hides behind those flames, cowering in fear of any real combat.

Captain Kurohyou: …Kakura, I know you’re seething inside, but you cannot simply launch thoughtless attacks. If the reports I scoured have any level of truth to them…(he leaps back, avoiding Kakura’s fist).

Captain Kurotsuki: (Gritting his teeth, his glare still focused on Sekhmet) Shut the hell up, Zurui. Keep your damn opinions to yourself. I don’t care what your records or data displays, I am going to kill her, here and now. Nothing will stop me...(he turns his attention to Zurui, delivering a defiant stare) not even you!
Captain Kurohyou: I don’t want to stop you, I simply want you to consider your options and weigh the consequences before blindly avenging your sister’s death. Placing yourself in precarious circumstances won’t help you achieve retribution. And I don’t typically speak this emotionally, but, killing yourself won’t preserve Mikazuki’s memory. You may have your justice, damnit, you deserve it. However…think this through, Mikazuki would want you to! She’d beg you…(Kakura slams him in the face, before charging at Sekhmet).

Sekhmet: (She watches as Kakura attempts to breach her flames, but with each stroke of her eyes, the flames pour onto the battlefield like a monsoon. They bathe the soil, scorching all life in their path. With each swing of his blade, his hands and arms are blistered by the snarling flames). I recommend you heed your comrade’s warning. For such a young captain, he has sensible advice. Squad twelve suits you, captain.

Captain Kurohyou: Danku…(the massive translucent barrier stretches into the sky, shielding Kakura from the burst of flames. Zurui’s eyes can’t help but notice the pattern of damage dealt by the flames. He inspects it closely for a moment, allowing his eyes to scan the entire area.) Inner-monologue: These fractures…are peculiar looking… (He clutches Kakura’s shoulder, but is met with violent resistance. Kakura’s elbow presses deeply into his side, prompting him to frown with displeasure. He abandons his efforts and flash-steps to a safer distance, watching as the flames crash through the barrier and collide with Kakura’s body). Her Shikai shattered a level 81 Bakudo…

Captain Kurotsuki: …I’m not surprised (said as he flash-steps nearby, heaving and gripping his wounds).

Captain Kurohyou: (He peers over his shoulder briefly, connecting with Kakura’s eyes) What do you mean?

Captain Kurotsuki: Zurui…she decimated an entire brigade of arrancar with a single swing of her blade. We’ll need more than a single Bakudo to combat her. As I said before, though, don’t interfere. Allow me to handle her. If you interfere much more, I will not hesitate..

Captain Kurohyou: …hesitate to what? Kill me? Do you want to become a murderer like her? Is that the retribution you plan on preserving Mikazuki’s memory with?

Captain Kurotsuki: (He continues to stare forward, watching the flames flail like serpents) Shut the hell up…(the words exit his mouth without so much as a rise in his tone.)

Captain Kurohyou: (He cannot help but observe the magnitude of indifference demonstrated by his lack of spirit) …are you going to let this loss defeat you?

Captain Kurotsuki: Is this an intervention? I said I don’t care what you think. I am going after the bitch, regardless of her power.

Sekhmet: (she leers at the captains, illustrating her lack of fear and worry.) While the captains discuss their subsequent tactic, you two should seize the lieutenants. (She carefully observes Captain Kurohyou’s attention shift, immediately vanishing in an effort to thwart the angels. Simultaneously, Captain Seishin and Captain Elrantz speed onto the battlefield, hoping to catch Sekhmet off-guard). Four against one…whatever should I do? (She lets out a brief chuckle before executing a most malevolent ability) Osochia…(her words generate a most peculiar spark in the air).

Captain Kurotsuki: (He watches his environment closely, noticing subtle difference in the air. He clutches Zurui’s arm, but is unable to stop his incoming comrades. He watches as the two captains enter the space near Sekhmet, prompting their bodies to erupt into flames. He observes in horror as the two captains lose their concentration and fall to the ground. He clutches Zurui’s arm, stopping him from intervening) Don’t…there is some high density spiritual energy in the air around them. I sensed it and stopped…

Captain Kurohyou: What do you mean? I only sense Sekhmet’s spiritual energy.

Captain Kurotsuki: I can only assume that is the element this technique relies on. Our zanpakuto have spiritual identifiers almost indistinguishable to ours, but I can sense just the slightest difference. It helped me discern the threat.
Captain Kurohyou: We can’t just let them die!

Captain Kurotsuki: They won’t…look. (They watch as the two captains’ flash-step toward them, zooming by and sliding across the ground, extinguishing the flames).

Captain Kurohyou: Are you two alright (Inspecting their wounds with both concern and intrigue)?

Captain Seishin: …that damn bitch. We walked right into her trap. How the hell did she sense us!

Captain Elrantz: (he slowly returns to his feet, patting off his body) Based on this display, there is much she keeps hidden from her opponents…what is she doing here, anyways…

Sekhmet: It’s simple, Captain Elrantz (the captains turn to face her, two of which have been critically injured).

Captain Seishin: (he delivers a menacing glare, filled with hatred) …I can’t wait to kill her! I want her to suffer…

Sekhmet: …like Mikazuki?

Captain Kurotsuki: (Without a thought, he leaps toward her, firing Tenran to dispel the flames hidden in the air. His technique is unsuccessful and his body is subject to the same peculiar flames encountered by Captain Seishin and Captain Elrantz. Despite the pain, he slams his flame into hers) Why’d you kill her?

Sekhmet: I didn’t kill her, nor did I come here to discuss her.

Captain Kurohyou: Then why…?

Sekhmet: Because this particular acquisition is vital, so I decided to retrieve it myself.

Captain Kurohyou: The lieutenants…(he bows his head in despair as he watches as Gilgamesh snaps his fingers, shattering the barrier containing the two lieutenants. He watches as Sekhmet swings her blade, producing a torrent of flames that drive Kakura away).

Sekhmet: Yes, captain, lower your head in anguish, knowing that you can do nothing to stop this from happening. You know, I have to admit, I am rather disappointed that Genrusei Yamamoto isn’t here to witness the fruits of his mistake. The last time we encountered one another, over a millennia ago, I warned him. I said I’d return and my power would rival even his. He simply dismissed my threats as the woes of a grieving princess. So you see, all this suffering is a byproduct of the Soul Society’s most legendary and respected leader. If it weren’t for him having concluded my threats to be baseless, I wouldn’t be here right now. More importantly, you wouldn’t be on the cusp of absolute annihilation. One foolish man’s mistakes have lost you countless lieutenants and a captain…a sister…a friend (She delivers a wicked smile before tapping the air behind her, opening a Wakiki Getou).

Captain Kurohyou: You think we’re just going let you take them? Roppō Fūjin (The hexagonal seal forms around Sekhmet, entrapping her and her flames).

Sekhmet: Oh, very clever, captain, using a barrier technique. But do you think that will suffice?

Captain Kurohyou: No, I do not.

Sekhmet: (Suddenly giant pillars rise from the ground and begin revolving around Sekhmet, still within the barrier). Oh, this is a sealing technique, I presume. It was said to be used only on the most lethal criminals. It appears you’re pulling out all the stops.

Captain Kurotsuki: That won’t work…(he directs his fellow captains’ attention to the soon to be shattered barrier)

Captain Kurohyou: She’s much more powerful than I previously imagined…

Gilgamesh: Vyenna, set the lieutenant down, we have some captains to tend to…

Sekhmet: (She holds up her hand, gesturing for her angels to avoid any involvement) Don’t. Trust me, I can handle these four all by myself. (She begins pumping vast amounts of Reiatsu into the air, causing the barrier to crack further. She swings her blade, cleaving the cemented kido, rendering his technique useless. Just as the barrier falls, the pillars produce a vortex of black energy that obscures everyone’s view of Sekhmet.)

Captain Seishin: Wait…don’t seal her away!! I wanted to be the one to end her!

Captain Kurohyou: Don’t be foolish! You are no match for her (he shouts in his exhaustion)!!

Captain Kurotsuki: (He abruptly slices into Zurui’s back, disrupting his concentration. He watches Zurui’s face as he looks back before falling forward. He watches as the blood trickles onto the ground, Zurui now holding supporting his body with his hands)

Captain Erlantz: KAKURA WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?!

Captain Seishin: TRAITOR!

Captain Kurohyou: NO, STOP! He’s not a traitor…he’s just confused and being mislead by his grief and frustration.

Captain Kurotsuki: (He dismisses their words and gazes forward, watching the flames erupt around the sealing technique).

Captain Seishin: ...Well, Kakura? You gonna charge in with me?

Captain Zurohyou: Like I said...you're no match for her. Neither of you are.

Sekhmet: (her voice echoes from inside the black energy) You’re right…(the energy begins to thin and dissipate, despite Captain Kurohyou’s efforts) but neither are you... (Flames erupt from inside the black vortex, expelling the energy and crashing into the pillars. The roaring flames climb the pillars and render them useless as they crumble.) Your head-captain couldn’t battle on par with me, so whatever gave you the impression that you stood a chance?

Captain Elrantz: …tell me this wasn’t your only plan, Zurui? And you, Kakura, what the hell are you thinking? At a time like this, you attack a fellow captain?

Captain Kurohyou: I’m fine…he held back.

Captain Seishin: I say we ALL GO BANKAI….(his brazen speech is halted by a beam of energy shooting through his chest)

Captain Elrantz: You’re blinded by the same rage Kakura is!

Sekhmet: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Captain Seishin (said while delicately extending her index and middle finger, which is now sparking vibrant golden energy). Bakudo 96: Kigen ga nekusasu

Captain Seishin: (he stares at Sekhmet, seething beneath the surface, but unable to move his body.)

Sekhmet: Interesting bakudo, isn’t it? Once cast, it generates a focal point, or nexus, for which all the energy converges. It creates such a powerful pull of energy, it completely paralyzes the body, using the subjects own energy against them. It’s ultimately unbreakable by anyone aside from the caster (she smiles confidently). Now that the cub has been tamed, what does the lion have to say?

Captain Kurotsuki: …

[Overwhelming Doubts! Anticipation?]

Zurui: You are both fools. You think that cutting me was somehow going change my mind, or give me an impression of strength? Fine, go and fight her and then die, see if I care. Captain Erlantz, if you would mind, I have a plan, but there's no point discussing it with these two. Follow me!

(Zurui shunpos, clutching his wound, barely even feeling the red-hot pain from the wound Kakura gave him. Captain Erlantz follows him, noting that Gilgamesh and Vyenna had decided to follow them. Zurui stops abruptly, noting the presence of the two Shirub. Captain Erlantz breaks into a halt at the same time and both Captains turn to look both Shirub in the eye.)

Zurui: Considering my wounds, fighting alongside Kakura and Teiko would be foolish... However, that doesn't mean that I won't try and stop you, Shirub! Now, prepare, I' am no longer holding back against you...

Gilgamesh: Holding back...? How arrogant of you. You imply that you have a chance against me. How foolish of you to assume such a thing. I will leave your body broken and bleeding amongst those deliciously clean tiles down there.

Zurui: Oh, but you have no idea of what I have doing these last few monthes. How could you? You know nothing of me. But, I'll show you your mistake soon enough. Just you wait and see. For the record, do you have any idea what squad I command?

Gilgamesh: You are Squad Twelve Captain... It was relatively obvious to me, even the first time I ever encountered you. But, what is your point?

Zurui, looking unsurprised: Nothing like that. You know what I can do?

Gilgamesh: Some stupid piece of technology that would give the impression that you are strong, even though you don't even come close.

(Zurui shunpos, stopping right in front of Gilgamesh. Zurui cuts the other man down his chest, drawing a large ribbon of blood.)

Zurui: No. You really have no idea. Do you know what is special about your blood?

Gilgamesh: My blood? What a stupid question! There is nothing special about my blood, just like there is nothing special about your blood, or anyone else's blood. You seem to be clutching at straws, Shinigami Captain.

Zurui: Hahahahahahaha! Clutching at straws...? Oh, you really give me more credit than I am worth. I am not 'clutching at straws', I am simply explaining a small part of my method, doubt me all you like, but it will not change the end result.

Gilgamesh: I have heard enough from you. Either fight, or die. I simply have not the patience to bandy words with you all day. Sekhmet-sama wants you Shinigami to die and we Shirub may have made a grievous mistake attacking in such a way, but the time for regrets is in the past. I will defeat you now and earn back Sekhmet-sama's trust.

Zurui: Yeah, okay then, show me what you got.

(Zurui and Gilgamesh disappear and clash their Zanpakutous together, creating a large clash and an explosion of smoke. Zurui appears, forcing Gilgamesh back and sending him flying into a building nearby. The building crumbles into pieces, crashing to the ground. Zurui waits, keeping his eyes ready, in case Gilgamesh tries to surprise him. Suddenly a huge explosion of spiritual energy blows every piece of the former building into the air and the irritated Shirub bursts from the debris, his energyc flaring much more wildly than before. Zurui parries each blow calmly, using the Shirub's strength against him. Gilgamesh sends a wild blow at hi, but Zurui dodges it easily and cuts through the man's shoulder, who roars and swings wildly again.)

Zurui: Still think you can win so easily?

Gilgamesh: Oh, I get what you are doing. You think that you can unsettle me by making me angry. From this point right here, it will NOT work. I will destroy you!

Zurui: Yeah, whatever you say, Chief.

(Gilgamesh grins at the intended mockery and disappears abruptly, causing Zurui to narrow his eyes and keep his senses active. Suddenly, the Shirub bursts in front of him and Zurui eyes widen with surprise. Gilgamesh smashes him backwards, causing him to go flying into one of the only still-standing buildings, which is crushed by the force of the attack and Zurui's energy. Zurui pirouettes and lands on the side of the other side of the building, which is still falling, then leaps foreward, disrupting Gilgamesh's precise nest attack and knocking him backwards, sending him sliding backwards, finally screeching to a halt.)

Zurui: So, when are you going to show me your Shikai? I still haven't seen it and I have come across you a couple of times. If you plan tio defeat me, you won't do it like you are now. Show your Shikai, unless you want me to completely destroy you...

On a separate note, why are you battling Gilgamesh and Vyenna? That's why Sekhmet is there, to halt the fighting amongst the captains and angels. I thought my post made that clear? Not to mention it obscures the significance of her appearance.

Another wonderful post Crazie! Amazing job! Again, I am sorry for making you rewrite the entire thing... But I felt that I had to jump in somewhere, otherwise Teiko would have been there for nothing at all.

And, I apologize once more for making you rewrite the post above. I had no idea that you were working on one, and when I tried to ask if you were about to, you didn't answer me, so, I went ahead and posted, it seems, against my better judgment. NEVERTHELESS, it all turned out Alright! :D

I figured it was better than having my character join the fray... He would just be in the way, so my original plan was to take Quidel and run. But, then I thought that it would be unlikely that Gilgamesh or Vyenna would simply let either of the Captains run away, even if Sekhmet was fighting Teiko and Kakura; I mean, they are unlikely to just stand there and watch Sekhmet fight... I don't think it obscures her presence and appearance, anyway, it would some sense. Oh well, I'll edit it later and have both characters retreating (Zurui and Quidel) and you can do whatever you like with Gilgamesh and Vyenna. Is that okay with you?

Sekhmet physically told them to remain still in my recent post. They would never disobey her, so, yes, they would allow them to run. They're holding the lieutenants. That's all Sekhmet wants. Not to mention they're standing behind Sekhmet. It's all in my post, BP. I think your desire to avoid 'joining the fray' clouded your better judgement. But If you're that disinterested in accommodating the details in my post, I suppose that's fine. We all have our preferences. Carry on. I planned on her and the other leaving shortly anyway.

Link, you're fine. I'm not upset. At the time I was confused, more so than anything else.
