Okay, this is going to sund weird, but I just love the contrast between princesslullaby's and Tygers_Eye's comment. I can see Lullaby sort of screaming it excitedly, with a big grin and a gleam in her eyes, while Tygers gives a small nod and has a tiny, serene smile in her lips.over a year ago
When I was at the peak of my fanpop contributions and activity, I had a DP Beauty Redesign contest that many of you liked participating in! I know many who participated in the past have moved on from the site, but I would love to see what the new age of fanpop's editors can bring to the contest. Check it out?
Well, last week Tygers_eye told a dream she had, so let's continue that with me sharing a weird somewhat Disney related dream I had. I had a dream that I met Hiro from Big Hero 6 and then next thing I know it, I'm in my living-room and I meet Eris from Sinbad: Legend of The Seven Seas. She wanted me for some evil scheme and I didn't know what it was, I told her no, and she was holding Hiro hostage, so I agreed if she let him go. *continues to type in comments*

She agreed but she was holding onto Hiro to make sure I didn't betray her. And again, I asked her what the hell she wanted with me and she never answered. The next thing I know it, the three of us are in my bathroom, there's a Christmas tree, she makes us open presents and drink eggnog, and for some reason, me and Hiro are throwing up. Then I wake up, go back to sleep, I have a dream that I'm 12, get shot, and I wake up. And finally I have a dream about Thumbelina flying through my town with Rapunzel or something.over a year ago
Does anyone know how to make list/compilation YouTube videos? You know, like those top 10 videos that use different video and audio clips. I've been wanting to make a few of these videos for a while but I don't know what program to use or how exactly to put the different parts together.
Posted over a year ago
I never made a video, though I'm thinking of creating a Youtube channel and trying my luck. About programs, I've heard of Sony Vegas, but I don't know either it is free or not.over a year ago
Just search "How to make a video compilation' You can use iMovie or Windows Movie Maker, depends on what kind of laptop you have, obviously. You'll prolly need to use some different softwares, or "apps" from the Chrome Web Store. (I imagine that it's difficult to transport your video on to a cellular device) afterwards to make it look really high tech and like it has good quality.Vivian Vo-Farmer uses Final Cut Pro and her youtube videos turn out amazing. , but she's really great with video editing.over a year ago
Just got back from seeing Big Hero 6. It was a cute movie. Visually gorgeous, beautiful music, fun and likable characters, a rather well-paced story, a lot of great action scenes, and a lot of heart. Since Frozen featured a strong sister/sister central bond, it's only natural balanced it out with a brother/brother bond here. It's very touching though, so I won't knock it. The stinger was cute too. I made us stay after the credits to watch it, so now BH6 is one of my beau's favorite Disney films.
Posted over a year ago
My only issue is that, after watching this movie, I realized that animated films starring female leads are pigeon-holed into Disney Princess (or DP knock-off) films while movies with male protagonists get more diverse settings and story-telling. Frozen's "ground-breaking" sister/sister relationship was set in a revamped but formulaic Disney Princess European fairy tale setting, while Big Hero 6 with its brother/brother relationship is set in a multicultural, futuristic, sci fi Tokyo/Sanfransisco setting with an ethnically diverse cast and clever plot twists. What the hell, Pixar (for Brave) and Disney (for Tangled and Frozen)?over a year ago
^ Yeah.... Unfortunately the Disney Princess formula is guaranteed to make money, or at least make up for lackluster ticket sales in DP merchandise sales, so I guess that's how that goes. I've been thinking about this further and realized that movies with male protagonists are always a gamble, because they don't know how people will take it. DP movies are almost guaranteed to do well and always have since Snow White. Cinderella ushered in a revival when Walt was still alive, The Little Mermaid kicked of the Renaissance, Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film nominated for best picture, The Princess and the Frog and Tangled kicked off the Revival, Frozen is the highest grossing animated film of all time, etc.over a year ago
Disney has been making a bigger deal about the whole "princess" thing since they branded it and marketed it, aren't they? Before, they just had a number of really successful princess fairy tale adaptations who starred beloved, iconic female characters who happened to be princesses. Apart from Jasmine hating the pressures of palace life (which is significant to the story), there wasn't much emphasis on it. Now, it's all the characters talk about in a DP movie. -_-over a year ago
I know I shouldn't judge a Disney character based on what they do on Once Upon A Time, but after tonight's episode, I hate Anna and Elsa's mother SO MUCH MORE now! It's not bad enough she was an idiot but now she's gotta be so despicable! I won't tell what it is but let me tell you that she's horrible!
Posted over a year ago
You shouldn't count that. Disney characters always have different portrayals in different versions, but yeah I hate their mom in the show too. She's an ass hat.over a year ago
I just watched my first episode of OUAT two days ago. I watched two of the more recent ones with Anna and Elsa, and I'm planning on going back to season one and watching the whole series. I've always hated Anna and Elsa's parents. I find them not only stupid, but selfish, uncaring of Anna and Elsa, and mentally abusive. I mean, geez, at the young age of twelve Elsa was already so scared she refused on touching her own parents, and yet they kept brow beating her. I don't think it's wrong to judge a character out of the original film, I do it all the time. It gives more insight on characters and sometimes opens up possibilities for the characters we didn't originally think of when we watched the first movie. =)over a year ago
Kataralover, I'm asking you this politely-- do you think you could pull back on the wall posts? Your wall posts seem to take up about 1/3 or 1/2 of the wall and it's not your personal facebook. I mean this in the nicest possible way. Thanksover a year ago
princesslullaby I didn't realize her majesty wanted us to limit our wallposts. Besides, some of them are from a few days ago. It's not my fault if the wall is dead. If I want to post something than I will do it and post whatever the hell I want. And my dear, I don't give a crap what you or anyone says of think. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. Thank you for your pointless comment lol.over a year ago
I don't watch Once Upon a Time, but I think that KL has a point. Generally I agree with Tygers_Eye, but sometimes how they portray a character in another series/movie affects your opinion on them, especially if you strongly dislike/like them. And I don't see how making many wallposts is bad. Sorry if I seem rude, but in my opinion you can't just force someone not to post wallposts, just because you think he has crossed the line. If you don't like them, don't read them. :)over a year ago
I didn't mean it in a "her majesty" sense-- really it's just sometimes I think you overtake the wall. I didn't ask you to give a crap what I think, I just thought i'd ask. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. 3xZ, where the fuck did I say I was going to force Kataralover to stop making wallposts. And it's not as easy as "If you don't like them, don't read them." I knew Kataralover was going to lash out as usual in his responses, his maturity really shows, but I just thought i'd ask, anyway.over a year ago
princesslullaby I wouldn't talk about maturity if I were you. Here's a genius idea, ignore what I post and move on. I don't care how many people think that I post too much. If I want to, I will post how many I want, whenever I want. It's not like I post six of them in fine minutes. If anything, there are plenty of hours in between my posts. You never saw me complaining about how you used to constantly post things about Disney Princesses and Princes about sex, the size of a penis, and so forth, which I actually found very stupid. I can guarantee that I'm not the only one who feels that way because I've had a conversation about that with a friend of mine, who shall remain nameless because he/she doesn't wish for Fanpop to think less of them. So I wouldn't talk if I were you about doing things that bug people, despite it being harmless.over a year ago
The only difference princesslullaby, is that unlike you, I was polite enough not to say anything when it wasn't doing any harm. I hate to make a Frozen reference but "I don't care what they're going to say! Let the posts rage on! The criticism doesn't bother me anyway."over a year ago
Tonight I'm going to see Big Hero 6 with my beau. We're both pretty sure it's going to replace Frozen as his favorite Disney movie to date. If I end up not hating it, I know he's going to tease me about it since I still don't like CGI or Disney's direction with its Revival movies. When I do see it, I'll compare it to Frozen to keep this on-topic for the DP club.

So this is something I've never understood: how come the beast is such a horrible person when he rejects letting the enchantress in? I mean isn't the #1 thing people teach you is to not trust strangers and let them into your home? I get that it was supposed to be because she was ugly that just always was odd to me.

Some of you might know that a year and a half ago, I read a book called Fairest of All: A Tale of The Wicked Queen. That book was amazing and is one of my favorite books. It doesn't mess everything up like Maleficent does and actually makes it a believable story and doesn't make the queen become the hero. However, I read a book called The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince, by the same author, Serena Valentino. And boy is it REALLY BAD *continues to type in comments*
Posted over a year ago
I read the book on my mom's kindle and it completely ruins everything the original movie did. First, Gaston is actually the Beast's best friend because he became the beast, but they forget about each other when Beast transforms, which was actually a slow transformation. He was also supposed to marry this girl who was a farm girl and turns out to be the Enchantress who is upset when the Beast rejects her after finding out she's a farm girl. Her sisters turn out to be the three witches from Fairest of All, a pointless and unnecessary choice by the way. And it turns out she was the one who sent the wolves after Belle in the movie to kill her and make sure she didn't break the curse. And apparently she put a spell on Beast to keep him from hurting Gaston to make sure that Gaston could stab him while he wasn't looking. Absolutely NOTHING to do with his good heart, just a spell! *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
The girl also apparently decides to save the Beast and turn him back into a human because she's touched by Belle's love for him. Oh, and did I mention that the servants disappeared and the book is saying that they were all in the Beast's head and they would just turn back into lifeless object instead of the characters we all know any love? The Beast is completely unlikable, Gaston and the witches are pointless (besides Gaston in the climax), it's rushed, they ruin the charm the original movie had, they don't really go into Beast's back story on why he became the spoiled and selfish person he was, and they just make the Beast look despicable. They could have gone into being ignored by his parents so he became cruel because of it.over a year ago
If I ever get to work on the Disney sequels, I'm adding that bit of plot to The Enchanted Christmas. Belle is hardly in the book, which is the point, but this book doesn't make the love between her and Beast seem genuine like it was in the movie. The characters aren't fleshed out and it has even more problems than Frozen. So check out Fairest of All and give The Beast Within a SKIP!over a year ago
^it definitely felt like fanfic to me when I read it. It was all right but I wasn't overly impressed with the style. it felt a bit cheesy and it was weird they were all a pagan country when all of Europe at that time was largely Christian, and Snow was even seen praying as Christians are taught too. it was interesting though, and a great idea for a backstory. I just wish it had been better done. I'm hesitant to read this new one about the Beast for the same reason.over a year ago
I haven't read either of these books, but for a modern twist on Beauty and the Beast, you should read Beastly. Adrian and Linda's chemistry are wonderful, I reccommend this.over a year ago
^^^^Beastly is one of my favorite books! definitely recommend. The one about Sleeping Beauty was all right too but I don't think most of you will like Princess Talia. you get to know her more than Aurora but you probably won't like her being a selfish, whiny brat for most of the book.over a year ago

I just got back from seeing Big Hero 6 and I promise this will be a NON-spoiler review of it. The characters are all great, except for the villain and Fred. Fred is just annoying and I won't talk about the villain because it would give too much away, except IT'S NOT THE BROTHER! Anyway, my favorite character is Hiro, even though it's kind of pointless to have him in a super-suit because he doesn't do any fighting like the others. But with that aside, both his character and voice is what Hiccup from how To Train Your Dragon should have been. He's interesting, has some emotional baggage, is smart, was kind of a trouble maker at the beginning, and was kind of dark for a Disney hero. Without giving too much away, he wants revenge for his brother's death and was even willing to do something that was really, I'm not sure how to say it, but it's dark. I like when a character can go dark like this because it shows that the character is human but he realizes he shouldn't have done what he did. Speaking of the brother, he's great, and their relationship is just incredible. It's so heartwarming, realistic, strong, and heartbreaking at the same time. The rest of the team were great too. I have a message to my fellow Christians here on Fanpop. How many of you are ashamed that you pray for yourself when there are others who need more help? I used to but I started praying for something that summed up all the suffering in the world. Just say "be with all the unfortunate people in the world." I know it's short but if you prayed for everything that needs praying for in the world then you'd be up all night praying. Spread the word to all of your fellow Christians!
Posted over a year ago
That is true, sometimes we focus so much on ourselves instead on all of the people suffering in this world. I don't feel ashamed but I do think that I should pray more for all the poor unfortunate souls out there, wow 2 Disney songs references in the same sentence. I'll make sure to pray for them more now.over a year ago
I sort of do but honestly I try and pray for specific types of unfortunate people and my loved ones as much as I pray that I don't feel stressed anymoreover a year ago
Christians aren't the only ones who pray. =/ Besides, isn't that kind of cheating? You're praying for others because you don't want to feel guilty for praying for yourself, but you're slapping on a quick "be with all the unfortunate people in the world" so you don't have to think about who is unfortunate, what their misfortune is, and how God can alleviate it. At least be more specific. =/over a year ago
But there are so many things that need to be prayed for that you can't get through them all in just one night. So summing it up like that covers everything. I mean, if we prayed for everything in the world that needs to be prayed for, we'd be up all night and never get any sleep. Why leave out important things when you can sum it up? Besides, there are some form of suffering in the world that I don't know about, so by summing it up it also includes the suffering that I don't know about. It is better to get to the point and make sure you are able to help everyone, instead of just being specific by praying for certain individual things of people suffering when you know you can't talk about everything. I prefer to know that I'm praying for everyone in the world.over a year ago

I agree completely with Tygers_eye. My main worry is now-a-days, Pixar has gone from making creative and original animated movies, onto mainly just sequels for old movies, poorly thought out ideas, and weak plots for what could have been much better movies. Hi-ya, nice to meet you! I've seen a bunch of your posts and they were very helpful, nice of you to ask for requests. :) If you could put some transparent Disney princess edits they would be really helpful. The magic eraser tool isn't bad to use as long as you zoom in. The tool I perfer to use, and even use at work is the trace tool. If it's a clear image the magnet or magic trace will work. I know no one will read this but I'm going to say it anyway. This is my point of view on John Smith. Much like Ariel and Elsa, people seem to either really love or hate him. I've heard people say that Mel Gibson's racism comments and the fact that the real John Smith was horrible are what ruins the character. But this is an animated adaption loosely based on history. So what the real John Smith isn't relevant to the one in the Disney movie AT ALL *continues to type in comments*

As for the Mel Gibson thing, I hate him too but he gives a good performance and I can ignore him. If the voice actor, despite what they do in real life, can still give a good performance in a show or movie, than I can look past the character. It's not like the character is Mel Gibson, he's just voiced by him. People also say that he's racist at the beginning and he is but he changes and a lot of people were racist back then. He wasn't even that bad. So I thought that all the criticisms about him were just nitpicking. But then I remember a point someone made, that he's murdered many Native Americans in the past like it was nothing. I have to admit that that's a good point. Although, it's kind of confusing when he tells Pocahontas that they've improved the lives of "savages" all over the world. Many it's confused writing or he's just a filthy liar. It would have been more forgiving if there was a scene where he regrets his past *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
So, why do I still enjoy him? Well, like I said, he changed and wanted to help Pocahontas bring peace between their worlds. I also love how selfless he is by jumping into the sea to save Thomas, telling Thomas to leave and taking the blame for Kocum's death, and saving Powhantan's life. He's also kind, brave, smart, adventurous, strong, heroic, and is a great character in my opinion. I will admit it was shallow not to kill Pocahontas just because she's gorgeous but I think his good qualities outweigh the bad and he does change.over a year ago
I don't hate or love him, I'm just neutral toward him. He has just always seemed kind of boring to me but not nearly as boring as Prince Charming *yawns*. Anyway, I can see why you like him but I have just never really been that interested in him.over a year ago
I completely agree with you! I hate when people make close minded statements like I hate John Smith because of Mel Gibson. That's the dumbest reason to not like a character. What does the voice actor have anything to do with the character? If we are going to use this logic I wouldn't like some Disney characters that I actually love. Anyway, John Smith does have flaws but I can look past all that and really love him.over a year ago
I completely agree with everything you said about him and my opinion on him is the same as yours, I recognize his flaws but I still enjoy watching him and appreciate his change, even if it wasn't very realistic.over a year ago
I agree with you. I think it's unfair to the fictional character John Smith for one to judge him based on who the real John Smith was and on who his voice actor is. I think it's rather senseless to allow your opinions on Mel Gibson and Real Smith, because ultimately, Disney's John is a completely separate entity based on how Disney pretty much rewrote history. That said, while Real Smith may have been an egotistical jerk, I don't understand why so many people brush off John's selflessness while they admire other characters like Mulan and Anna for having that very quality. As for not killing Pocahontas, I got the sense that when he found out somebody was following him he thought they were trying to attack him so he prepared to defend himself.over a year ago
His character development is rushed and not believable at all, though. And him killing Natives around the world is obviously a horrible thing to do. He did, however, think he was doing the right thing, which I thought was evident in his conversation with Pocahontas when he said "We've improved the lives of savages around the world."over a year ago
In honor of our princess of the month, I watched Pocahontas. People seem to either really love or really hate it. Put me in the love category. Does that mean it doesn't have problems? HELL NO! It has plenty of problems, not as many as Hercules (HA, you thought I was going to say Frozen, didn't ya? Well I'm not mention that movie! OH CRAP! I JUST DID!). Anyway, let's talk about the good stuff before the bad. The animation is GORGEOUS *continues to type in comments*

The songs are among Disney's best, Pocahontas is an awesome character, I love John Smith (note to self, make wallpost addressing the John Smith hate tomorrow), the sidekicks are really likable, the romance is great, it has some really good character development, and the instrumental scores are phenomenal. Just like Mulan, Pocahontas is one of the only Disney Princesses I think are impossible to find to be a bad role model. I mean, she doesn't choose the guy over her tribe and people. If they think she's a bad role model than clearly they're just looking for something to criticize about *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
Unfortunately, now it's time to get to the problems. The villain is lame and I'm not sure if they could have had a better villain for this story, unfortunately history has a lot of idiots, not that this movie is historically accurate by any means. Also, I don't give a crap about the historical inaccuracies. If people actually think Disney is supposed to teach the kids than America is even more hopeless and stupid than I thought. But I digress. Pocahontas' father, is way too mean spirited by telling his daughter she has shamed him and that because of her Kocum is dead. That's too mean spirited and I don't care what time period or culture it was. That doesn't make it right. Anyway, it has some plot-holes, like how can the whites and Native Americans understand each other when it was made clear when John and Pocahontas first met that they couldn't? I know there are some other but I don't remember *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
Pocahontas and John Smith's relationship, while good, could have been a lot stronger. They're no Belle and Beast or Ariel and Eric. The pacing isn't that good, now it's not bad but it's just really done that well. Like Siskel from Siskel and Ebert said in their review of the movie, I think the movie should have been longer, like maybe 20 or 30 minutes longer. I also thought of the Nostalgia Critic's point about how the animals don't talk. It kind of would make sense for them to talk since this movie is about connecting with nature. Speaking of which, I remember in ancient Fanpop days that everyone was afraid of Grandmother Willow as a kid, I don't get it. I never found her scary at all and I don't get how they could. *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
Overall, despite it's problems, I still absolutely love it and think it's amazing. It's definitely in my top 50 favorite Disney movies, but all of the Renaissance movies are there, yes, even Hercules. I know the Nostalgia Critic said that this movie was causing a downward spiral of Disney and that is somewhat true. I don't think it was that big a flop, it just wasn't as good as the big four Disney movies (you all know what they are). It still has a lot of fans and we didn't get to the downhill spiral until after the Renaissance. Overall, love it, despite it's issues.over a year ago

I'm still a little stressed about my school work, but I just went through the comments on my entries for the Fan-Made Disney Sequel Contest and it just made me feel so wonderful. It made me remember that I really love writing and I love seeing that people love my stories so much. I am kind of disappointed that my interview for winning best character development hasn't gotten any comments though. But seeing the comments of people that love my stories just feels... indescribable in a good way.

I still have a long way to go but I can't wait until Brave 2, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2: The Revenge, and From Paws To Thumbs are made into Disney movies, that is, of course, if they're made into Disney movies. I know exactly what you mean! I remember about two years ago when I had a teacher who hated me, so I wanted to show her how I was, "worthy" of her attention. So, for a writing assignment that counted for most of are grade for that year, I worked my BUTT OFF on a story about poverty and emotional child abuse. I still remember how happy I was when my teacher told me I should be a writer and went around the school showing my story off to everyone slapping stickers on it. Since then, writing has been a real love of mine. (Creatively, I still suck with grammar and spelling and what not) :Dover a year ago

Hello. I've just joined Fanpop after creeping this club for about a year and a half now. I'm a big fan of Disney and Disney Princesses, and I joined due to me having nobody to share my interests with in real life. I don't know who my favorite princess is. I really love Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle, Tiana, Aurora and Merida and I can't seem to pick just one over all of the others. Anyway, this is getting awkward for me... Hope I'll have fun here.

Last night I had the most bizarre dream that cruella ran a (really nice Disneyland Main Street / 1950's) Ducktales-themed ice cream parlor , which many of us DP fanpop users frequented and hung out at. However, some jerk opened a Frozen-themed ice cream parlor just across the street, which stole a lot of business. Since they're both owned by Disney for selling their characters' likeness, we ended up going to them to start evening out the character presence in each one to get more even business.

By popular demand, I just finished watching Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I thought, while it could have been a lot better, that it was a great movie. The animation is beautiful, the characters are all fantastic (except the villain, Kida's dad, and Milo), the score is phenomenal, the action is exciting, it's interesting, and the climax is suspenseful. Kida, is my favorite character. She's a lot like Katara from Avatar: The last Airbender. *continues to type in comments*

I admire how she wants to do what's best for her people and restore her kingdom to it's once great glory. But she's not jsut a serious stick in the mud, she's mischievous and fun-loving. So where does the movie fall flat. First Milo isn't very interesting. I'm sorry to his fans but he's very boring, bland, and I hate it when adults or teens try to act cool, which he does. I'm more lenient when a little kid is doing that because it's typical for a lot of kids and it's kind of cute. But when a teenager or an adult is doing it, I just want to slap them and tell them to grow up. But he's not a bad character, he's just not all that fun or interesting to watch. Another problem is the villain. I'M FREAKING SICK OF THESE VILLAINS *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
It's the Pocahontas and Tarzan villain all over again. Someone who is just motivated by greed and isn't an interesting villain at all. Why does this guy need to act evil? He's freaking going to be rich anyway, he found a freaking lost civilization! WHAT MORE DOES HE NEED? IT'S JUST SO STUPID! It's also kind of trying too hard to be an adult film that it kind of ends up being kind of clunky and rushed. For this to work they might have needed it to be a live-action film that was allowed to be 2 and a half hours long or just went ballsy and just became the first animated movie to be 2 and a half hours long. But you know they're not gonna do that. Another thing is that the romance between Kida and Milo is not very interesting. They just seem like good friends to me.over a year ago
But I will give Disney credit that they did do a good job with this because it is a hard story to do and I'm surprised they did as well as they did. It might have done better if the advertising was better when it first came out because I never remembered that much advertising for it when I was a kid and I can vividly remember a lot of advertising for Mulan and Tarzan. But overall it's a great and underrated movie. I recommend it, even if you don't end up liking it. Check it out and find out for yourself.over a year ago
I really like that movie despite its problems. I completely agree with what you said and I actually don't really like Milo for the same reasons. My favorites are all the supportive characters who come with Milo to explore Atlantis, besides the villain. Kida is awesome, but Helga is so badass and that old lady and the guy for the demolitions are freaking hilarious.over a year ago

I LOVE Vuelie from Frozen! In fact, it also made me notice a few things. I love the music in Sleeping Beauty a lot, because it sounds really... heavenly, I guess? Yeah, angelic. It's like something that could make me dream, like the mice do when they hear Cinderella sing. It makes me immediately listen and float with the notes. I wish they could have put that pretty choir in their songs. Don't get me wrong, broadway pop is good. I just wanted so much more of that Vuelie choir D:
Posted over a year ago
(by "they" I meant the songwriters for Frozen btw) I noticed that in TLK they have one song that there's some choir singing, and the rest of the songs are broadway pop. In Frozen, they've repeated the idea. It's very smart, and I like it better than the music plan in Tangled.over a year ago
Vuelie is hauntingly beautiful. It's one of the few modern Disney songs I sing and play with abandon, along with Classic and Renaissance songs. It baffles me how, despite the Frozen hype and songs everywhere, most people don't seem to remember Vuelie (or Frozen Heart). The same people that sing, play, and/or reference "Let It Go," "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" and "For the First Time In Forever" act like I'M odd for singing or referencing Vuelie. When I read the Disney Wikia, I found that Jennifer Lee said that Elsa was born on Winter Solstice, which is around 21st December in Northern Hemisphere while Anna was born on Summer Solstice, which is around 20th or 22nd June. The movie takes place in July and 21-year-old Elsa is coronated. So, is it technically Elsa is 3 years and a half older than Anna or 2 years and a half, which is making her 20 years old in the movie (because she has not yet birthday during the coronation day)?
Posted over a year ago
Well, there's a gaping plot hole. Elsa's birthday is in winter, yet she gets coronated when she comes of age, yet her coronation ceremony is in summer instead of winter. I guess they waited six months to get her coronated?over a year ago
Maybe Elsa kept delaying her coronation ;) And do not think authors comments are that important, I do not even consider the ages official, just what is in the film.over a year ago
So, Elsa is seemingly 4 years old older than Anna (3 years and a half older, to be precise)? Example, Elsa was born in 1822 while Anna was born in 1826.over a year ago

I just finished watching Sleeping Beauty and I will admit that it is a good movie but not a great movie. I like it but i don't love it. I guess, to be fair, I should talk about the good stuff first before I get to it's problems. The songs are pretty good, not among Disney's best, but they are still pretty good and Once Upon A Dream is the only memorable one, even if it's not my favorite. The fairies and Maleficent are the best part of the movie! *continues to type in comments*
Posted over a year ago
They're what make this movie! The fairies are like, the original Golden Girls, which is an amazing show by the way. But I digress. They have distinct personalities and are dynamic, not the same as one another. Maleficent, while her motive isn't very strong, what makes her awesome is how badass and cruel she is to achieve her goal. The lengths she'll go just for that stupid motivation is really impressive, but when she finds out she wasn't wanted, she doesn't get mad openly but instead acts calm and levelheaded to fool her enemies and then reveals her true colors. That's freaking amazing! The score is also really good, nothing that special, but it's still really good and has some really impressive moments. now it's time to talk about the things that don't work. *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
I like Aurora okay but she is so boring. I don't mind that she's passive or gives up her happiness for her kingdom, that I actually kind of admire. She does have some personality, not a lot, but some. I don't mind her being a damsel in distress, which she isn't even that much of a damsel. She is charming but her problem is that she's boring, generic, and a stereotypical princess. Her lack of screentime doesn't help because they should have done all they could to make her more interesting. But at least she has some personality, even if it's not a lot, unlike Phillip, who has absolutely NO personality. He's MUCH more boring than Aurora is! At least she has an excuse for not speaking in the second half, she's put to sleep, this guy doesn't have another line after "Goodbye father." And it's really the fairies that save the day because they keep on helping Phillip every step of the way. *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
Do you really think that sword would have killed Maleficent if it wasn't enchanted? Although the climax was really great. Also, much like Cinderella, the movie has a lot of filler in it. But unlike Cinderella, which only steals some focus away from Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty's filler steals almost all of the focus away from Aurora and Phillip. I think this movie liked it's side characters more than it's main characters. If it focused more on it's main characters, they could have been a lot more interesting. So it's a very unbalanced film. I also think the animation, while not bad but not good, is very awkward looking. The backgrounds are too detailed and don't look natural, the characters have pink skin, and some of the movements look cheesy. One of the charms of other Disney films like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, and The Lion King were that the backgrounds looked natural with the characters in front of them.over a year ago
They didn't add too much detail or too little detail, just the right amount. This movie has WAY too many details in the backgrounds. I know it's the point because it's supposed to be like a medieval painting, but that doesn't mean it's good. But overall, I like the film. It's not one of the best but it's enjoyable. I also think Aurora is one of the most gorgeous Disney Princesses.over a year ago
I agree you about Phillip. He's generic and boring as hell, and him not speaking in the second half made me feel like I was watching play, even if only during the fight scene. He's your typical fairy tale hero, and at the same time he isn't even nearly as heroic as people make him out to be. Eric, Aladdin, John Smith and pretty much almost *all* of the princes who came after Phillip are more heroic than he is. I also agree that overall it's nice to watch- but the movie is just *nice*. There's nothing really special or brilliant about it.over a year ago
I agree with you. As you guys all know this movie put's me to sleep. No matter how hard I try to find some good in it I can kind of, but it just doesn't take away from how I feel it is unbalanced and boring. I don't think this movie is anywhere close to being a masterpiece like it's said to be but everyone has their own opinions.over a year ago
Found out that Moana is supposed to be a Polynesia set film. Polynesia is an island located close to Australia, and consists of Polynesians. They're islanders, with fairly tan skin. It's shown in a lot of pictures of the men having tattoos, and the women wearing coconut bras and grass skirts. (Cute, right?) Then again, a lot of them are nude, or partially clothed, so I'm wondering how Disney's gonna play this one off.
Posted over a year ago
Actually Polynesia is an entire subregion of Oceania that consists of over 1, 000 islands. People from several Pacific island nations are considered Polynesian. The culture is quite fascinating although, like you said, the ancient Polynesians and occasionally some today don't wear a lot of clothing, of course Disney is known for changing around traditional outfits since most if not all of the princesses have historically inaccurate clothing. Can't wait for Moana !over a year ago
To be fair, most mermaids of folklore swim around naked too (including Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid), but of course Disney's not going to show that on screen. They gave the mermaids tactful seashell and starfish bras most of the time, and tastefully covered Ariel's nudity when she became human. While real-life historical Polynesians might not always be or have been fully dressed, Disney's not going to stick to historical accuracy here. (Heck, they couldn't even stick to historical accuracy with Pocahontas.)over a year ago
As for Moana she is probably wearing something similar that she has in the concept art if not something slightly different. And that's to Tumblir's social justice bloggers I found that coconut brass and grass skirts are apparently offensive so I hope there won't be those.over a year ago
^ Oh, the starfish bras probably were a Peter Pan thing and not The Little Mermaid. Fair point. (Then again, that doesn't really change the fact that mermaids of folklore are usually naked, and Disney started the trend of giving them marine life bras in Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid to cover their modesty.)over a year ago
As for what she'll wear, I can't comment. Some posters/concept art show her wearing a coconut bra and grass skirt, some show her wearing a white dress. Maybe she'll wear different outfits over the film. Maybe they changed between now and when they made those posters. Early Frozen concept art gave all the characters accurate Scandinavian outfits and those were all GONE by the time the final film came out. I think it's too early to tell.over a year ago

I don't know if anyone is aware of this, since I don't do it much anymore, but I used to rant none stop about how mad as hell I was about Brave and Merida not being as badass as they were advertised to be. But do you know what really made it worse for me? The fact that I was actually worried that Brave would replace The Little Mermaid as my favorite movie and that Merida would replace Ariel and Melody as my favorite fictional character. AND NO MOVIE OR CHARACTER HAS EVER DONE THAT BEFORE!

A servant? Who knows. The movie never tells us who ran the kingdom before Elsa took the throne, despite the fact that there should have been a steward of some sort. If we're gonna talk realistically, she should have stayed there and took care of her people, and sent guards to go after Elsa. It's one of my major issues with Anna, even though I love her character, that she would just abandon her people like that. At least Elsa knew she ran the risk of hurting everyone.over a year ago
Realistically there should have been some kind of regent who ran the kingdom while Elsa was still underage and reclusive, then stepped aside when she was old enough to be coronated, then still been on stand-by after Elsa ran away. Or, failing that, maybe royal advisers, a steward, distant noble relatives who would have been next in line of succession within the kingdom, etc. I can think of plenty of people within the kingdom who would have more likely taken the reigns over a complete foreign stranger.over a year ago
Tygers_Eye is absolutely correct, as (almost ;) always. There shoud have been plenty of options. For example, if all of the royal family in "Cinderella" had to be away, who'd rule would be the Grand-Duke. In Beauty and the Beast, prolly Cogsworth. In Aladdin, Jafar. And so on. In Frozen, however, there seems to be no sort of second-in-charge or plan B. Arendelle must be a really bad structured kingdom.over a year ago
If anything, I think a better villain for this story would be the kingdom's regent. The person who ran the kingdom when Elsa was underage and locked away, resented having to step down so she could take the throne, then decided to take advantage of the reveal that Elsa has powers and Anna wants to go find her so s/he (meh, he) can keep ruling in their absence. Hans could even be the regent's son or nephew, unbeknownst to Anna, who at first wanted to wed her to gain power after arranging an "accident" for her sister, then decided to help off her when he realized he (and the regent) could get more direct access to the throne by getting the sisters killed. Boom. Power-hungry, throne-grabbing antagonist that makes sense with most kingdom's "line of succession."over a year ago
^I expected the Duke of Weselton to be the regent before I saw the film. I am actually happy that was not the case since it would have been cliche. But I feel Hans should have had a legitimate claim to the throne (He could have been a distant cousin of Anna and Elsa's but I think American's would have disliked that so maybe not). But I would have like that the regent had been shown. Anna's recklessness with Hans would have been more obvious (in hindsight) if the regent was some cabableover a year ago
I was reading an article about 3 story suggestions that Disney should turn into Disney Princess films but they sounded gruesome since 2 committed suicide and one was killed in battle: link
Posted over a year ago
Disney would never include suicide in their movies/stories, so it's most likely they'd cut out that part of the story, which would ruin it most likely. But they've done a lot with death, so the one getting killed in battle makes more sense and could probably be doneover a year ago
While it's very admirable what these women did, it really doesn't have the fairy tale feeling in my opinion. They where all amazingly confident women who knew what was right and took up arms to support their cause. But in order to get a character based story out of them, I feel like they woul have to change them into much less confident women, that way we could see the character progression to that state. And I'm not sure that would be right, considering these stories are based on real people. With Pocahontas at least, they created a completely new character with a completely different world.over a year ago
I agree, they don't really seem like a fairy tale. Then again Mulan's tale in the chinese scrolls were just like these 3 stories, only Disney added some spiritual stuff, motivation and BAM you've got a princess.over a year ago
Continuing with this strain of watching the princess movies, I just watched Tangled last night. Not much more to say on it, though watching it this time I tried to pay a lot more attention to the symbolism and themes of the movie. And good lord, they're everywhere. The lanterns, the hair, the mirror. I think my favorite visual one might have been the way the lanterns lit up before they where released. The gradient they made looked exactly like how Rapunzel's hair lights up.
Posted over a year ago
Tangled is my newfound passion. It's one of these movies I know I'll find more and more little details and allegories/symbolism each time I watch it.over a year ago
It's amazing right? I was watching it with my friend and literally shouted symbolism every time I saw something. My friend and I were also talking about it and basically concluded that Gothel is an emotional vampire. She makes herself feel stronger by abusing Rapunzel and doing her best to destroy her self confidence. During the entire movie as Rapunzel gets happier and freer, Gothel gets older and older. And they once Rapunzel is finally back in her tower and emotional mess, Gothel is finally young and beautiful again. She uses Rapunzel on a completely dehumanized level.over a year ago
Speaking of Rapunzel and her relation to freedom/happiness, Glen Keane said once that her hair symbolized her being held back by Gothel and that it probably wouldn't have grown to such an absurd length if she had been free. Interesting, no? I really wish they had kept Rapunzel's color as being green, as they had originally planned, though: it made her status as the personification of the flower even more evident.over a year ago
That's really interesting! Like roots, growing as far as they can to get the nutrients they need. I'm sort of glad that her hair was yellow though, since the flower was golden and "born of a drop of sunlight".over a year ago
Oooh. Derp, probably should have thought of that. Though definitely, that would have been amazing. I think they probably changed it though because the Princess and the frog used green as the color for their princess.over a year ago

Is Frozen really the first Disney movie to show that a female character can save another female character? I see people saying this a lot, I also don't see why it's such a big deal.
Posted over a year ago
I'd argue the first one is Cinderella since the Fairy Godmother helped Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty since the three good fairies helped Philip save Aurora, then later Brave since Merida saved Elinor from Fergus, then soon after Elinor saved Merida from Mor'du. I think it's important though because most of fiction involves mostly male characters, where female characters are helpless damsels and love interests who need to be saved by male characters. I like seeing fiction that celebrates non-romantic female/female relationships (sisters, mother/daughter, grandmother/granddaughter, platonic friends, etc), and show that women can help each other too.over a year ago
^^ I agree with Tygers_Eye. I think a lot of times, too, is that when the woman/women help the men, they're overlooked because he does mostly the "hard" part of the saving. The Fairy Godmother is overlooked by the Duke who is sent by the Prince to find the girl who fits the shoe, and The Three Fairies are overlooked by Phillip, who slayed Maleficent/The Dragon. For Brave, it wasn't all such a popular movie. I also think Brave could of been overlooked because there was no Princess/Prince relationship, so they were already expecting it. Since Frozen had Princess/Prince/Boy relationships in it, it got a lot more attention, as Kristoff could of easily stopped Hans, but Anna risked her life. And not to sound arrogant on this part, but didn't the man partially save the girl? (Kristoff taking Anna up the hill after her horse ran away, Kristoff taking her back to the castle once she starts to freeze up).over a year ago
rapunzelsgold makes a good point. It might not be that Anna is literally the first Disney gal to save another gal, but past ones get overlooked, either because a gal is saved later in the story by a dude, or the film wasn't that popular to begin with. Frozen is massively popular and has a definitive "one girl saves another girl" at the climax, so there's no dispute or undermining. Plus the film sets up the standard "boy saves girl with true love's kiss at the end" we're all used to (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc), then turns it on it's head. I guess people find that more shocking, and thus memorable. (I do agree though that Kristoff kept saving Anna every step of the way up till that point, so I think the "progressive, feminist message" gets a tad undermined by that.t.)over a year ago
@Tygers_Eye Kristoff constantly saving Anna? Really? Because I think it's Anna who is constantly saving Kristoff. She saves him from being eaten by wolves, saves him from falling off a cliff, and several times saves him from the snow monster. I think it's much like what they did in Tangled, the inexperienced girl has to constantly save the experienced guy.over a year ago
@KataraLover, if Anna still had her horse, she wouldn't of gone to Kristoff and would of ended up alone. Yes, Anna DID save Kristoff multiple times, but if it wasn't for Kristoff taking her up the hill, she probably would of ended up dead. Kristoff played a big role in the saving, too.over a year ago
I hate to talk about Frozen AGAIN, since I want the fame to die down and talking about it keeping the fame alive. But I just felt like talking about this certain subject. Elsa was supposed to be the villain and the story was really different from the final product, until Let It Go came into the picture. That song could have been a villain song. They could have had Elsa finally let her cares go and making her decide to be the villain everyone things she is *continues to type in comments*
Posted over a year ago
The song even has a line that sounds similar to that with "I don't care what they're going to say! Let the storm rage on! The cold never bothered me anyway." Plus having her know that she cursed the land with an eternal winter and did it on purpose wouldn't make her look stupid and oblivious like the movie makes her look by not knowing the obvious. She didn't even have to always be a villain. She could have just started the way that she did in the actual movie, people think she's a monster, she becomes a villain, and thanks to Anna, becomes good again and faces her problems. That would make her more complex and a unique Disney Princess or Disney villain. The only Disney villain who reforms is Silver from Treasure Planet. Why not have a Disney Princess character like that? I really hate to rant about this but I just had to say this.over a year ago
I agree with you 100%! The idea of having a villain conflicted between a bad past and wanting to turn to vengeance but still having something in her reminding her of Anna would have been a brilliant idea. I wouldn't want it to be a monologue turns her good thing, but more of a turning point in the movie or something really thought provoking they could have added to turn Elsa good. I love Elsa, but this would have made me love her more.over a year ago
I completely agree with both of you. That's why Frozen frustrates me so much, because it could have been SO EPIC, but instead they chose following the boring Disney formula. If they did what you just said, Elsa would have been amazing. I actually love her now, but imagine the possibilities if she was the villain of the story, even if she becomes good at the end.over a year ago
Wow, I feel incredibly embarrassed. For a while I really haven't thought that much of Tiana or her movie. And that's mainly because I've been basing my analysis on an movie I saw literally five years ago. I haven't seen it since. Tiana is one of the most realistic and charming characters I've seen Disney ever produce. And with the way she acts, if I decided to create a countdown of my smartest princess, I would probably make her first. Naveen is amazing too. Suave and arrogant, but lucky-go-happy enough that it makes sense for him to have the change of heart. And a hard worker too! Just goes to show you how much nurture really does effect a person. The side characters are amazing too. And Ray, I love this character. he might even be above Maximus for me in terms of side characters.over a year ago
Best of all though is the story line. It still manages to be a fairy tale while also bringing some incredible realism. Like the fact that Ray dies. In fact, I think that Ray dying is what really makes this movie so wonderful for me, as heartless as it might sound. His death is what really made the happy ending so wonderful, because it showed that even if there are all those "trials and tribulations" you can still have that happy ending. Just wonderful in my opinion. Oh! And I love the fact that even though he was a Prince and she a Princess, the two of them still worked together to create the restaurant, through their own hard work. Just amazing. Now that I've seen this though, I probably should watch all the other movies. Who knows what I might have missed!over a year ago

Did anyone dress up this year for Halloween? I was thinking of being Gir from Invader Zim but I didn't get the chance to get a costume.

No, and for some reason this year barely anyone came to our house to get treats, even though in the past we've gotten so many people. Feeling slightly neglected -__-over a year ago
I was the Bleeding Scream as usual, even though I wanted to be Korra from A:LoK. I just didn't have the materials to mae the costume. I hate how my apartment tells the children not to dress up or go trick or treating int he apartment. Just put a sign on your door saying "No candy here" or something, instead we have to go down to the lobby and they hand us really cheap candy. Nothing like chocolate or something that tastes good; it's mostly mint chocolate and hard candy. Call me greedy but hey, this is the spirit of Halloween. We dress up in costumes and knock on our neighbours' doors' saying a phrase we always say, it's just not fair to take that away. I'm 16, I'm too old for it anyways but it's still not fair for the kids. Or the preteens who're having their last year.over a year ago
Well apparently the Frozen crazy has gotten so bad that kids, literally, can't tell a duck from a snowman! I was at the mall today wearing a shirt with a picture of Uncle Scrooge on it and this little girl ask me why Olaf looked so weird on my shirt. I tried to be nice explain that it wasn't Olaf, even though I so sick of Frozen.

Actually, Flynn's age is kind of a mystery. One of the people who worked in Tangled confirmed Flynn to be 18, but there are other die-hard fans who, through a lot of investigating, finally landed on the number 26. It's very interesting, I don't think anyone knows for sure. Although I'm not really up-to-dateover a year ago
Ironically today, I watched three Disney movies and one Halloween movie. The Halloween movie I watched was Paranorman. First of all I have to say this. THE MUSCULAR GUY IS GAY? I did NOT see that coming! I'll give the company who made this movie this, they sure have balls! Now to the actual story itself. Much like Arthur Christmas, this movie really surprised me, even though it had plenty of moments that made me cringe. *continues to type in comments*

Norman and Aggie are my favorite characters in the movie. They're so deep and kind of complex. When I learned more about Aggie, I kept thinking that this is what Elsa should have been. Someone who was misunderstood, became a villain, caused suffering, and thanks to a goodhearted person, was able to "let it go." The grandma character, though minor, is also really great and so is the mother. The uncle character was okay but really weird. The zombies, I should hate but they're really remorseful for what they did but I can't bring myself to like them. Everyone else, especially the dad, is ANNOYING! Talk about an irritating cast of characters that really makes me want to hate the movie. The dad is even more despicable than the dads from How To Train Your Dragon and Chicken Little, and that's no easy accomplishment. Some other things that made me almost hate the movie was the horrendous humor that made me keep on slapping my forehead from how terrible they were. *continues to type*over a year ago
I'm really in love with this movie - it's one of my all time favorite animated movies! The animation is really nice (I really love the look of Laika), the story is original and unexpected and it just has a certain charm to it that I really love. I especially love Norman as a main character! 2012 was such a good year for animated films, Paranorman, Wreck-It-Ralph, Rise of the Guardians and Brave are all within my top 50 favorite animated movies!over a year ago
did everyone have a good halloween (if yours is over, that is)? my Jack Skellington outfit was a success at work- I lost count of the compliments at 25 so I feel pretty nicely surprised :D even two little boys said it was cool. and Lord knows they're hard to impress if you're a girl. I hope you all had a safe holiday and aren't making yourselves too sick on candy.

Doing well. Halloween is still in full swing over here and the streets are flooding with trick-or-treaters. We ran out of candy much sooner than we thought, but I still won't take in my white pumpkin with Jack Skellington's face. I don't know if I've asked this question before but just wondering, does anyone have a Disney movie memorized? I have Lion King and Mulan memorized and I used to have Tarzan memorized. When I tell people this they are so shocked but I guess to me it's kind of normal considering how much I've watched those 2.

I have several Disney movies memorized. After meeting a guy who had the entire Phantom of the Opera movie memorized line or line and proceeded to try to demonstrate, I won't make anyone sit through it.over a year ago
Of course I have many Disney movies memorised! I remember every single line from HOND and Mulan. When I was a kid, I had Snow White and the 7 dwarfs memorised (my dad actually has recorded me narrating the whole story, I didn't forget a single line) but now I've forgotten it.over a year ago
Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin have memorized as well as The Incredibles. I can even force myself to have dream of these in full. My friend Sarah and I can rehearse The Incredibles, which most people think is weird, especially when we're in sync.over a year ago
There are two arguments I've heard that are technically Disney Princess related that I'm going to address. First is that Disney can't adapt the actual story of The Snow Queen because they made Frozen, that argument is wrong. Disney made two adaptions of Treasure Island. One was a live-action movie that actually followed the book and it's style and another that's Treasure Planet than did in space steampunk, which was weird. *continues to type in comments*

So Disney could made another animated version of the Snow Queen but actually make it about the actual source material. Or do a live-action version of it and again actually follow the source material. The second argument is how Tangled shouldn't have been in 2-D because Rapunzel's hair wouldn't have bee as amazing. A few weeks ago I proved my point with Frozen's snow and everyone seemed to agree with me. However, this one is actually a VERY SLIM argument because I just have to say, look at Eris' hair from Sinbad: Legend of The Seven Seas. It's freaking phenomenal!over a year ago
Silverrose1991 Stop making a mountain out of a molehill. Tygers_Eye My point with the Snow Queen is that it's not impossible. Disney's done two adaptions of the same source material before and my point is that it's possible for them to make a movie that's actually about the Snow Queen. Am I saying it's likely? No, it's very unlikely, but not impossible.over a year ago

I just finished Enchanted and I have to say that my opinion on it has changed completely. It might even be in my top 50 favorite Disney movies. I just have to decide between it or Oliver and Company for the 50th place. The animation, when it's actually animated, is GORGEOUS! I actually even like Giselle now, though I'm disappointed now that I don't have my least favorite Disney human heroine as my most beautiful Disney heroine, just one that I used to hate *continues to type in comments*

But I digress. Giselle and Edward are really funny, they cracked me up several times. I also think that Giselle is pretty well-developed but I still stand by my belief that she's the biggest damsel in distress in Disney history, even after she changes. With Nancy, I'm starting to hear more of Elsa's voice, which I actually never could hear before with Idina Menzel, except when she sung. The characters are pretty likable, except for the villain, who is actually a really lame and stupid villain. Why didn't she just kill Edward to make sure she would keep her throne instead of just killing a maiden he feel in love with or keeping him from meeting his true love? What sense does that make? Also, why does she still want to kill Giselle during the climax? She doesn't love Edward and she knows it, so just kill Edward, who she should have gone after to begin with! Plus when she's making every fairy-tale remark during the climax is really annoying. *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
Giselle and Robert actually have a believable chemistry and the fact that their opposites has them work off each other really well because they fix each others flaws while keeping true to themselves. Giselle is also a really good motherly figure to Morgan. I love Pip, but only when he can't talk. The humor is actually really funny and the songs are fantastic. But what I love most of all is how it shows that life needs a balance between reality and fairy-tales. It's great how reality forces it's way onto Giselle and Edward but I also love how they can force their fairy-tale view onto reality. Like how Giselle got animals to help her clean the apartment, which is comedy gold. But I also love how it teaches how life needs some fantasy in it. Because of Giselle's fantasy point-of-view, she saved two people who loved each other from getting a divorce. *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
It's things like that, which are considered nonsense, that people in life need because having a life with just reality in it isn't healthy. So this is an amazing movie, and while it's a satire of a Disney movie (a funny one at that), it also has the magic and deep message of a real Disney movie. I do admire Disney for having the balls to make fun of themselves like this because most companies don't dare to do something like this. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.over a year ago
YAS! I adore that movie to death! I adore the characters, the relationships, the main character is a great portrayal of Disney princesses yet can still stand as a character on the own, the humor is amazing, and I love the animation and the fact that it's a satire. My love for it might just be nostalgia based because it was the first Disney movie I saw in theatures (And saw it three times in theatures with that)over a year ago
I know what you mean about having nostalgia for movies you remember seeing in theaters as a kid. I remember my first Disney film in theaters was Mulan and later it was Tarzan. So I have nostalgia for them A LOT!over a year ago
Wow! That's really a change. I remember how much you used to hate Giselle and it's nice that you actually like her at all now. Anyway, I've never watched the movie but I think I'll try watching it sometime this weekend.over a year ago
Oooh, this made me smile. I'm glad your opinions on Giselle have changed. I adore the movie and find it very funny and sweet. Disney satire. You actually mentioned some things I never though much about. the positivity (my computer says that's not a word...) of fantasy in real life, Narissa's pointless attempts to kill Giselle, etc.over a year ago
Glad you like it. I think this film has a lot going for it. My only real comment is this one: "The characters are pretty likable, except for the villain, who is actually a really lame and stupid villain. Why didn't she just kill Edward to make sure she would keep her throne instead of just killing a maiden he feel in love with or keeping him from meeting his true love? What sense does that make?" It's anyone's guess, but I personally interpreted this to be yet more satire of fairy tale villains. I thought it's supposed to be stupid and nonsensical because that's how many classic Disney villains were. Like, the Evil Queen, who decides to kill Snow White for being prettier than her instead of using her magic potions to make herself younger and prettier. Just like how Giselle is an exaggerated classic Disney princesses (especially Snow White), I thought Narissa was a deliberate exaggeration of classic fairy tale villains (especially the Evil Queen).over a year ago
the animation is VERY nice, and I wish they'd do more like it. I'm surprised you think that about Giselle, because most disney fans seem to like her for saving Robert, showing that SHE'S the rescuer. I like her in cartoon form well enough myself, just not in NY. Edward is hilarious and a nice guy. I do hate what Giselle and Robert did to their fiances though, and I felt sorry for Ed and Nancy but at least they got their happy ending.over a year ago
Giselle actually doesn't do much of anything heroic. All she does is stab Narissa in the tail and save Robert from falling. It was Pip who defeated Narissa and Giselle always constantly had to be saved, both in animated and live-action form. Even when she changes she has to be saved and doesn't really become as badass as people say she is. She's more of a damsel in distress than any of the Disney Princesses, even though I don't even think the Classic Disney Princesses are really that big of damsels. Giselle only has one heroic moment and it's not even that impressive, especially when you compare it to the fifteen or twenty times she's had to be saved in the movie.over a year ago

Like I said I would do in my previous wallpost, I finished watching Piglet's Big Movie and it was good. I wouldn't call it as good as The Tigger Movie. It has some emotion moments but not nearly as much as The Tigger Movie or Pooh's Grand Adventure. It also kind of had some cheesy moments, even though Winnie The Pooh is known for that, but this movie was slightly above Winnie The Pooh cheesy. I do love the message on how you should appreciate the important people in your life because you don't always appreciate them like you should until you lose them. The songs are great and the animation is really good. So not in my top 50 favorite Disney movies but it's really good and worth a watch, so check it out.over a year ago
They're idiotic! They make the characters look painfully stupid instead of charmingly ignorant and naive. They have no charm, depth, or anything that made the really great Winnie The Pooh films really great. I don't know why people love the Heffelump movies and hate some of the really good Disney Sequels, it should be reversed.over a year ago
I just finished a total MUST SEE classic, The Tigger Movie. It's very emotional and makes Tigger a very deep character who is sad because he's alone and doesn't have a family. It must feel terrible to be the only one and Tigger realizes it. But this story sends a really powerful message about, in a matter of speaking, that blood doesn't make a family, love does. It's a beautiful story and my second favorite Winnie The Pooh movie after Pooh's Grand Adventure. *continues to type in comments*

We all know the characters and they're great as usual, my favorite is Tigger. Rabbit was annoying at the beginning but close to the end he's a lot better. What saves him is that he agrees to go and find Tigger, he puts coat on the freezing Piglet, and when the wind blows Eeyore away he saves him. It's things like this that make Rabbit a great character, despite his flaws. The brotherly relationship between Tigger and Roo is so heartwarming. Be warned to the really sensitive souls *coughs*MalloMar*coughs* that you will be crying quite a big from this brilliant movie. It is truly amazing and I couldn't recommend it any higher if I tried! I love these two movies! They were a part of my childhood and are so well-done! I prefer Piglet's Big Movie, though the animation in The Tigger Movie is a bit better.over a year ago
I don't tend to seek out films that make me cry. Plus the whole reason Tiger was my favorite Pooh character when I was a kid was because he was so hyper, cheerful, active and funny. I don't want to see a movie that depicts him in a sad and depressing light.over a year ago
Why? Because that would make him a layered character? Besides, they still have plenty of moments of him being hyper, active, funny, and playful. They just made him more like how an actual person would feel in his situation. Besides, I love seeing character I love still be themselves but also have more layers and depth to them, which is one of the reasons I love this movie. I really love when he finds and eaten apple and says "This must have belonged to my UNCLE! Or maybe not," and just throws it away like it's nothing and continues to search through his junk and making a big energized deal over little things. It's still Tigger.over a year ago

I'm watching George of The Jungle and I think it's like The Emperor's New Groove in a sense of comedy. Bad Guy: Hey, why don't you say something constructive, like what we should do next.
Narrator: Because I don't like you!
I finished the movie and it's freaking HILARIOUS! The good guys are really likable, the villains aren't likable but it's funny when bad things happen to them, George and Ursula have a very believable chemistry, I love the fourth-wall jokes, the narrator is so funny that it should be a crime, it has heart to it, and I of course have a lot of nostalgia for it. Amazing movie that I HIGHLY recommend, which will likely make you laugh.over a year ago

I just finished watching James and The Giant Peach and unlike the other films that were good, this movie did no disappoint me. The songs were fun (not one of Disney's best but still good and fun), the characters are great, it has some good emotions, and the story/adventure is just so engaging. I'm aware of it's problems but I don't look at it as a movie that is based on logic. I look at it like how I look at The Wizard of Oz and Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs *continues to type in comments*

Movies that are based off emotions rather than logic. You know that it doesn't make sense but you still enjoy it because you know it's not trying to be a logical story. If this film was trying to be a logical story than it would be bad, but it's not. It's based off a children's book that doesn't rely on logic but more on what your emotions want. It's even aware of how silly it is when James makes his speech about how maybe it started out as a dream but that everything does. It shows that no dream is impossible, no matter how ridiculous it seems. The main character is a lot like Alice, Dorothy, and Cinderella, and just like them, he's just so likable. *continues to type*over a year ago

Hello everyone! I'm new here. I stumbled upon this site while paruzing the interwebs and I thought it would be a cool place to join. I love all of the Disney princesses and my favorite is Anna :) I can't wait to meet all of you!

I just watched a Disney movie that I bought today, which is a movie not too many people think of, Ducktales The Movie: Treasure of The Lost Lamp. I have to say that the beginning when they're on the adventure, it's amazing. When they go on their mission close to the end and all the way to the end, it's amazing. In between it's just good, not amazing. It just really didn't capture me the way the beginning and end did. That's the weak point of the film *continues to type in comments*

Also, it unfortunately doesn't have the heart or great animation that A Goofy Movie had, which is an amazing movie. So it's a good movie and maybe even kind of great, if that makes sense. I do like the characters. Scrooge is a pretty unique and complex character, Webby is adorable and so sweet, the boys are pretty cool and likable (even though most people don't seem to like them), and the rest of the good guys are likable. I do kind of have a soft spot for the movie because I remember pretty much always watching it when I would go over to my grandma's house. I was hoping it would make my top 50 favorite Disney movies list, but it sadly doesn't. But it's still worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Plus that AWESOME theme song is in the end credits! Now The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and The Giant Peach are next on my watch list. I just gotta figure out which one to watch first.over a year ago
Hey guys, I haven't been on here for a while. I miss you all. I just wanted to say that I will only be on here a few times a month to run my contest on the Disney Fairies Movies club as well to hang out and debate. It's just been hard to keep up. I haven't lost interest in Disney. I just have high school to worry about and college. I will always love my Jasmine though. If anyone wants to say anything bad about her, call me! ;)

I am seeing rogueslayer's icon next to your post! Basically the same thing happened to me (a different icon, though), so this must be a glitch in Fanpop. And I'll miss seeing you around, Gabrielle!over a year ago
Aww, I'm really going to miss you! You are one of my favorite users here and one of the few big Jasmine fans here other than me. I'm really happy that this isn't one of those "the club isn't what it used to be" posts and you aren't forgetting Disney, I understand that you are getting busy. Anyway, I'll miss you Gaby!over a year ago
I'm watching Aladdin right now and I always want to move him up on my list when I watch the movie in the beginning because I really like him...but then the movie goes on, and....:P I'm at the part now where he's giving his bread to the kids.

@tiffany88 Belle has been that high for like, 2 years now. Check just before I left fanpop for that long while, she was second. I had Belle low a long, long time ago.over a year ago
