Hello peeps, I don't know if you remember me or even know me :) I haven't been that active here @ the DP Spot for the last many weeks. The reason for that is I've been busy, working on my own Disney Spot called Walt Disney Characters. But lately I've also had some personal problems to deal with as well and it's been quite hard. Life ain't always as easy as it seems to be and I've always been good to put on a facade and pretend that all is well in the life of PrueFever.
Posted over a year ago
But it's not always easy and the last couple of weeks have been rather tough be go through. I had friends who I counted as best friends, who turned around and stabbed me in the back. Friends I never thought would ever do that to me. Sometimes I just wish you could go back in time, you know? But then again, I just gotta remind myself of how lucky I am. There are people out there who has it much worser than I have. I still have great friends that I can trust 100% and a family that loves me and I’m ever grateful for that!over a year ago
Hi there, Prue. I missed seeing you around. I can definitely relate to your conditions: lately I have been feeling awful, like there's nothing I want to do or like there's no good in me. I really hope you get better!over a year ago

Tuesday last week I left IKEA to start working in a webshop company and the work there is totally different from my work at IKEA, the working pace is much slower and we're only 4 including me who are working there and all are women so I can relate to Aurora a little bit since the other 3 at my new work are older than me. Not just that, I have a much shorter way to work and I start work at 10am so I can sleep longer in the mornings if I want to

I just got back from finally seeing Big Hero 6, I loved it. Everything from the animation to the characters and the story was wonderful and it had a good mix of action, humor, and heartwarming moments. I know that not everyone here likes the more modern direction that Disney has chosen but I really like it, I've liked every single revival film so far and I now consider it my favorite period in Disney history with the renaissance close behind. I like that Disney has entered the modern age.

I'm really interested in doing any of those graphic/edits where princesses are put in live action model modern clothes, but i don't have a clue where to start (and i'd love to do any of these because they are so creative!!)

I love doing them! What I do is find a screencap of the princess and a picture of the clothes. (I use FotoFlexer!) Under the "Geek" tab, I use the smart scissors and cutout the princesses face & sometimes the hair. You'll probably have to resize the face and rotate it, so it will look right. After that, I try to get the skin tones to match and etc.over a year ago

Months ago I said I was planning on making an article comparing the Disney Renaissance with the Disney Revival and how they're similar. I still plan on making it, I just don't know when I'll get to it. I predicted that Big Hero 6 would be the Pocahontas of the revival age and it turns out that I was right. And Disney fans loved that these films were returning to the classic Disney magic they were known for after going through a dark age. Beauty and The Beast and Tangled are films people went crazy for and considered them as signs that Disney was officially back. The Rescuers Down Under and Winnie The Pooh are sequels that people seem to forget. Aladdin and Wreck-It Ralph have a main character that's looked down upon and has a chance to change their lives with the help of a friend with attitude. And The Lion King and Frozen became the highest grossing animated films of all time when they came out. Then there's Pocahontas and Big Hero 6. There isn't too many similarities between them. The thing is that no one praised them as much as the films from their era that came before them (minus the sequels). No one is really talking that much about Big Hero 6, especially compared to the other films from it's era. Maybe that means the next film will be dark like The Hunchback of Notre Dame.over a year ago
he Princess and the Frog's sucess doesn't compare to The Little Mermaid.PatF wasn't more sucessful than the previous movie released by Disney (Bolt), to be considered a renaissence event. In adjusted box office numbers, PatF has $110,1 million while TLM has $215.1). Also, I don't see BH6 being the new Pocahontas, since its box office will likely end ABOVE Tangled's $200 millon and WiR's $189 million (right now it has $177,8 million and the holiday season started only 2 weeks ago). You can check all this data in Boxofficemojo.com. =* 1 minute agoover a year ago
By seeing how much people are talking about it and hardly anyone is talking about Big Hero 6. Disney fans went nuts when The Princess and The Frog came because it was the return to the classic Disney formula with it's own modern twist. However, what hurt it was the 2-D animation. I have no problem with 2-D animation at all, it's my favorite animation, but unfortunately, people are prejudice against hand drawn films because they see them as kid stuff and that computer animated films are for adults. Everyone went nuts over Tangled and considered it an even better return to classic Disney than The Princess and The Frog, even though it was a little out-shined by Toy Story 3. Wreck-It Ralph, a lot of people referred to it as the new Toy Story and people were mad as hell that it didn't win best animated film of the year.over a year ago
Frozen, do I even need to explain this one? This movie is freaking everywhere and people can't shut up about it! I don't even really hear people talk that much about Big Hero 6, whether online or in real life. No one is really going crazy about it or praising it like they did the other films. In fact, people say they like the themes and the aspect of the film more than the actual film itself.over a year ago
Wow, I'm totally seeing a trend in movies. I never actually noticed this. I hope the next movie will be dark not only because I loved how it worked with HOND but simply because of this trend. :Pover a year ago
I see what you're saying although I don't think that it's fair to call Big Hero 6 the Pocahontas of the revival since unlike Pocahontas it has done well at the box office and received critical acclaim. The critics didn't like Pocahontas too much but they definitely like Big Hero 6 from what I've seen. Besides it was expected that no movie could live up to Frozen's hype , at least not so soon afterwards. I don't feel that Wreck it Ralph got nearly as much attention as Aladdin or the DP films of the revival either.over a year ago

When it comes to drawing characters, I'm completely unmotivated. I tried to draw a Disney style version of Miley Cyrus and Scarlett Johansson and I completely suck at it. I went to a site that showed me how to draw Miley and it was total crap. She ended up looking like a reject from Shark Tale, yep, THAT BAD! I didn't even get to Scarlett because I did so badly with Miley. I wish I could draw Disney style characters but I really don't have the motivation to do so *continues to type in comments*

I don't know why I got the sudden urge to draw Miley and Scarlett as Disney characters, and no I was not doing a picture of Miley sticking her tongue out or wearing those stupid corn-rolls or whatever their called. I guess I just wanted to see what they'd look like as Disney characters because I think they're the two most beautiful women that ever lived, so it makes sense. Oh well, my talents are singing and more so writing stories and characters. That's what I'm good at. An artist and drawer I most definitely am NOT! I don't have the patience for something like it. Anyone else ever feel this way about anything else? Or just wanna talk about how horrible at drawing they are too? lolover a year ago
I used to obsess with trying to be a good drawer in high school because I would have a vision in my head and I wanted to see how it comes out and it would NEVER look like how I pictured it in my head. So I tried learning from the internet and realized it takes a long time to draw good and even when your good it stills takes a while to draw so yeah I dont have the patience either. It would be nice to draw the stuff I picture in my head but I guess it's just not for me.over a year ago

I know what you mean, and I can relate to iHyrule. I can occasionally draw decent pictures, but not often, and I can never make them look the way I want them to. I honestly wonder how empty and meaningless this person's life is to waste all that time and effort creating, activating, pulling up, and using dozens, if not hundreds of fake accounts to make a fictional character lose in a little poll in a little fan site with only 15-20 active users, 20-30 casual users. If you want to pour so much time and effort to make 20-30 internet strangers see that your least favorite princess is the least favorite rated in the polls (even though it doesn't reflect the group's opinions), you desperately need something more enriching in your life. Would you guys like to do a debate of sorts on the forums where we have teams and have to argue for or against a certain point? (Like say: "Belle is one of the most intelligent princesses because she reads books.") It would follow the normal style of debates with each team presenting an introduction, questions being asked about what the opposing team has stated, a formal rebuttal of the questions asked, and the concluding statements. Heres a link in case you're confused:

About the discussion if Anna and Elsa are going to be coronated.... I'm starting to think that Disney will keep Frozen as a separate franchise, with Anna and Elsa being only unofficial DPs. The official DP lineup is already too crowded - Anna and Elsa would have no space, and it's not like they NEED to compete for space against Snow White, Cinderella, Belle and Ariel when their own "Frozen" products are selling out like water. Merida was coronated less than a year after her movie was released.

On the discussion of their coronation, think connor3 showed us this foreign DP magazine announcing the future two disney princesses who were going to be princesses. We all speculated it was about Anna and Elsa, so coronation confirmed? (ILLUMINATI confirmed hehehe)over a year ago

I just don't get why people criticize Anna for being excited about finding love. I'm ready to bet that most of these people also dream of finding true love (and would dream even more if they were trapped in a castle for years and had no parents and an absent sister). After all, one of the things Disney always did was encouraging our dreams of finding true love... Isn't it?
(PS.: I love Anna and since Frozen came out, she's been my 2nd favorite Disney Princess after Ariel).
Posted over a year ago
I agree that wanting love shouldn't be looked down on. I'm sure what poeple don't like is the fact that she trusted Hans, the first man she'd met (outside of her staff members and her father) and assumed it was love after just a day with him.over a year ago
Anna isn't really isolated, she has the servants to keep her company. Plus, there is no logical reason as to why she should be trapped inside the castle. I don't see much of a problem with characters who wish for love, as long as they don't obsess over it or have it as their sole desire, because I know what it is like to crave love, and for me, it's agonizing. But my main issue with Anna is that she shows no sign of intelligence at all.over a year ago
I'm personally not a fan of princesses being eager to find true love, but this isn't limited to Anna. (Snow and Aurora.) I actually like Anna's better because I've seen firsthand how girls neglected by their families become more eager to find romantic love, as a substitute for the love and attention they feel they don't get from their family. (Whether you think she was truly "isolated" for years or not, Anna was shut out by her sister, and I think the song strongly hints her parents didn't spend much time with her either, as they were busy coaching Elsa to hide her powers or running the kingdom.) I actually felt Disney handled it very believably here.over a year ago
The issue is that Anna jumps from one man to the other without any reflection on what had just happened with Hans- she just absoultely zero common sense. And her demand for love comes out of desperation -- also, we live in a VERY different time period than the classic princesses so the messages are very different. That being said, I agree with Tygers_eye and it's why I love Anna. She's my favorite of the moderns.over a year ago
^ I think the issue with Anna jumping from Hans to Kristoff without reflecting is the fault of the writers too. They portray her loving Hans as a mistake, but act like it really is "true love" with Kristoff even though she hasn't known him much longer.over a year ago
^I think it was supposed to be a diversion from her doing true love with her sister instead of Kristoff, but it still came across as mindless desperationover a year ago

I have some conflicting emotions right now. I just found out that my grandpa has been seeing a woman for lunch everyday (at least I think it's everyday, either way it's a lot) and my aunt is not happy about it. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean, it's been at least a year since my grandma died and he's probably lonely (even though he lives in a house FULL of people) but I just find it so hard to imagine him with anyone else besides my grandma. I don't know ho to feel about it.
Posted over a year ago
I think you should be totally supportive of your grandfather. It's part of the healing process. He can't spend his whole life heartbroken over your grandmother, he has a right to heal and move on. And your aunt is very immature to not allow your grandfather happiness.over a year ago
I'm not saying that he shouldn't. It's just that it feels really weird to me. I do agree that my aunt is being immature about it because he does deserve happiness and I didn't like seeing him so sad when my grandma died. He even cried and I've never seen him cry before in my entire life.over a year ago
I understand why you feel conflicted and it's normal for you to not be very keen on the idea of your grandpa with another woman, but you have to support him. I'm sure no one's going to replace your grandma in your grandpa's heart, but he still deserves to be happy when she's gone. You just have to accept it and convince yourself that it's not something you should worry about. I can't really relate to your situation, so sorry for not giving any better advice.over a year ago
My parents are divorced and my grandpa wasn't always with my grandma when he was supposed to be so I might know how you feel. But those are the times you have to be selfless and think about your loved ones' happiness over your own.over a year ago
My grandpa turned on the movie "About Schmitt" the night following my grandma's funeral (about an old man who feels empty and disillusioned about his life after his retirement, and whose wife dies while meticulously cleaning the house--he treated her like a servant for their whole marriage, btw--which prompts him to go on a grand road trip and "truly live for the first time") And then he started dating again within a month. He's been dating ever since. I don't know what your grandpa's like or what your family situation is, but if he's been faithfully mourning her memory for a whole year and has only just now started dating, I don't see much wrong with starting to heal and move on.over a year ago
I'm not even sure if he is dating. So far, we just know that they've been going out for lunch a lot. We don't know much about her or the situation other than that. I'm not sure if I'd even know if my grandpa liked a woman like that, even if he was. How would I even know that? I don't have that much of a problem with him dating again if he is, he has mourned my grandma's death for a year, which is perfectly respectable, and on my mom's side I never knew my real grandpa because he died and I grew up thinking my step-grandpa was my real grandpa. I'm not even that sure about this situation because I don't know very much about it. But I do feel better about the situation after thinking about it, that is, if there actually is anything going on.over a year ago

So I'm kind of bummed out because I just read that ABCFamily might go into a big change to try to appeal more to young adults (ex: Pretty little liars,The Fosters) and will step away as a channel for families and kids to watch(ex:Disney movies). ABCFamily has always been more "Classic Disney" friendly then disney channel will ever be. So I really hope they don't go thru with this change.

I just finished watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame and, as you obviously know, it was absolutely phenomenal! The animation is gorgeous, the songs are amazing (except for A Guy Like You), the score is fantastic, the characters are great, the action is awesome, and the villain is badass. Quasimodo is among one of my favorite fictional characters. I'm starting to go from liking Esmeralda to loving her, a lot better than how I used to feel about her *continues to type in comments*

It's also a good thing that I don't think she's a damsel in distress anymore because she's really not. Before I get called out by two certain users who hate me for constantly talking about damsels in distress, I think damsels in distress can be enjoyable, it's just that a lot of them are done horribly, like Mary Jane Watson. But I digress. Esmeralda does need saving but every character does, but she's also capable of holding her own. Pheobus is also a great character, I loved how he risked his life to save that family from the fire. Frollo is one of the best villains EVER! However, the romance between Esmeralda and Pheobus is something I dislike because it's not developed and it's not interesting, they mainly just crack one-liners at each other. *continues to type in comments*over a year ago
Now I'm going to talk about something people seem to hate the most about the movie, the gargoyles. Honestly, I don't get it. Okay, that's not completely true, I understand why people hate Hugo (the fat stupid one with the big mouth) because he can be annoying and ruin the tone of the movie. But Victor and Lavern at the worst are harmless, I personally love them. I don't even mind Hugo that much, even kind of like him. I think the gargoyles, particularly Lavern, serve as more than just the comic relief. They're the encouraging voices that tell Quasi what he knows he should do but is too scared to actually do. They're the reason why he turned out so kind, especially since his guardian was Frollo. So they're really not pointless but I guess that Hugo could be a lot less obnoxious, but Victor and especially Lavern are great. Overall, a brilliant movie!over a year ago
It is a brilliant movie. The soundtrack and the animation are highlights. I love Quasimodo. I'm glad you saw the light in Esmeralda. She isn't one of my favorite heroines, but I like her. I don't think the gargoyles are any more annoying than other Disney sidekicks. They're fun and sweet.over a year ago
I rewatched the movie recently too and I loved it! I remember you openly hating Esmeralda in the past so I'm glad you like her more now. Personally the gargoyles don't really bother me, but I wouldn't call myself a fan either. Oh and I definitely agree on "A Guy Like You", it's such a weak link amidst an otherwise fantastic soundtrack. I love Phoebus <3over a year ago
YES! That movie is absolutely phenomenal! I am so glad you finally don't see Esmeralda as a Damsel. And I'm pretty sure you were referring to me by the way. Anyway, I never understood how you ever saw her as a damsel. I don't care how many times you can count her being saved, you need to look at the circumstance as to why she was saved and if she could have been able to save her self and understand that it isn't just about numbers of how many times you were saved, it's about how capable you are of living independently. Esmeralda is anything but incapable, everyone needs saving. Anyway, I don't agree with you on everything, but for the most part I agree with why you love the movie.over a year ago
@shanyuisboss No, I was referring to two different users that I usually encounter on the Childhood Animated Movie Heroines club, who shall remain nameless. I wasn't talking about you at all.over a year ago

the only thing is I wouldn't call Frollo "badass", actually most of what he does is cowardly. He's a great villain, but not badass. I agree with you on the gargoyles- some people think they're figments of his imaginationover a year ago

(Yes, Sk8er__grl I'm side-eyeing you especially hard. avatar-tla-fan too) Silverrose1991 is my best friend, and he told me someone was suspecting that sarchasm, jacksfrost and my new account were the same people. Now, I have no clue who you two are but accusing those two people and I of being the same people is just rude. I don't know what you (Sk8er__grl especially) said to them and it's not my business, but I will be willing to bet you my internet access for the rest of my life that they denied it. And the reason is, I don't know, PROBABLY because they're not the same people? I don't know if you continued to harass them about it or anything like that, but if you did even after they told you they weren't the same people, that is nothing short of inconsiderate. I'm really sorry if I'm acting really rude for barging in like this and blaming people for things, but I really need to let you and everyone else know that this is not what it seems like, so stop.over a year ago
The thing is, you never did apologize? Looking at all the accusatory messages you sent me, you say a few times that you're 'sorry if you're wrong' -- even though I repeatedly assured you that you WERE wrong, and I had no multiple accounts -- which isn't a real apology by any means. I don't even mind you and avatar_tla_fan asking me, as this club seems to have a history of trolling, but even when I swore to every and any deity there is that I'm not a troll you continued to passive-aggressively accuse me, which did make me uncomfortable, and is kind of impolite, in my opinion. Copied and pasted from my messages: "You're right, and I'm sorry for not giving you the benefit of the doubt. I suppose I'm just paranoid about things like this." And I more or less lost my marbles when you fired back at my so harshly, but I won't get into that right now. Oh, and thank you. I really don't want anyone to think less of me or think I'm rude as a person--Because it certainly wasn't my intent. Okay, even though I do have a brother now, I spent 8 years of my life being an only child (being 13 now, that's more than half my life). I know a lot of Disney movies have characters that are only children, (Snow White, Aurora, Belle), but what they don't show about being an only child is you grow up unable to socialize well, even when you're put through public schools and there's people around you. You know what I never got? Why people were disappointed with the human version of the beasts. I was never really disappointed with how he turned out, because, well, we saw his human form before hand. We see him in stained glass and he's not necessarily attractive. Then we see a picture of him in full view, before he scratches it. So we know pretty much EXACTLY how he's going to look. I don't know, I think the animators were right, no matter who they put there the audience would be disappointed.

Posted over a year ago
First off, happy thanksgiving to you too! O.k., Jasmine and Elsa have both been growing on me lately and both are near each other on my list, I like Jasmine more because I she is sassy, smart, and forgiving and seems pretty brave. I like how regal Elsa is and I like Let it Go but I don't think we get to know her as well because most of the film she is scared and insecure with little moments here and there when we get to see more of her personality. She doesn't seem as brave or quick a thinker as Jasmine though. That's just my opinion.over a year ago
Elsa: Like her, but she is likely the princess I would make the most changes to. I find her arc very interesting, how she struggle against her fears. Unlike many people, I think she has a personality and a wonderful one at that: she is playful, well-mannered, artistic, gets easily offended, pessimistic, etc and has everyone's well-being in her heart. She could have been more fledged, though.over a year ago
Jasmine: She's alright... I like her occasional sweetness, but... that's all, I think. She is rude, unfriendly and needlessly humiliates her suitors, plus she isn't very smart. Although she is vocal about her rights, I don't get why she doesn't simply tell her father, "You are the Sultan, you can change the law." And she's too sneaky... I don't think he would have refused her more freedom if she had insisted more instead of being harsh and running away. She is utterly incompetent and is always overestimating herself... but at least she does try, I guess (there, found another positive). And the storyline is hypocritical, because she ends up being Aladdin's trophy, even if she claimed earlier on that she's "not a prize to be won!"over a year ago

I just came back from watching Big Hero 6 and I've got to say, I'm sort of disappointed. Now I don't have some long-winded evaluation as to why, I just feel very unimpressed. I really like Hiro as a character, but something that really bothered me is that the other characters didn't seem so-- original. I mean we've all seen the serious girl, the goofy guy, the sort of awkward bubbly girl, the big doofus that everybody loves anyway and the tough guy that later reveal to have a quirk or two.

I just think a Disney could've done better, I don't hate the movie. I just wish they took more liberties with it. Also something I've noticed lately, is a Disney seem to be getting very cliche and strangely more kid-friendly, in Maleficent instead of actually cursing the girl to death she says "...Sleep like death." And here at some point in the movie, Hiro blurts out "...But he's gone." I don't have a problem with that, but they should just flat out say "...because he's DEAD." I think they tried to play a safe movie again. And while I don't dislike it, I feel let down as far as the movies composition goes.over a year ago
