Today, I got another copy of the original book in its original German language that was printed in this year and was published by Reclam. Yes, I have bought so many copies of the original book lately since those are still Maya the Bee related and it's the one that brought Maya into existence and without it, none of the animated adaptations will exist, but of course, most of us got into it through one of the animated adaptations first before we learned about the book's existence though. :) Posted 5 days ago

Today, I got a rare German VHS tape from the 90s which it contains the first episode of the anime series, but because this is a 90s print, it might contains the Flip's song sequence in it stated that the runtime to be 25 minutes though, but who knows if there are earlier VHS tapes that contained the original version without Flip's song sequence that was originally aired in Germany in 1976? Well, I'm fine with getting an older tape from the German dub of the anime series though. :) Posted 11 days ago

Today, I have dreamt about watching some never seen before episode of the second season of the anime series which is about Maya reuniting with the baby bird (Harold/Harald) who she raised in an episode of the first season, but in the original episode, Harald grew into an adult bird while in this episode, he remained a baby bird which it was odd, but the good thing is that he remembered Maya when he met her again... Posted 12 days ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
... but some other birds were also seen in this episode and the funny thing is that the birds were designed to be more anthropomorphic by wearing clothes as probably something to distinguish which bird is which and the other birds looked at Maya with a surprised look on their faces and they didn't expect Harald to recognize her and one of those birds wanted to talk to Maya, but the dream ends here, but nevertheless it was a harmless dream as the episode itself seemed to be normal and innocent to me and if it was real, it will be a light-hearted one by showing other characters such as Willy, Flip and even Alexander the mouse who debuted in the second season as the art-style that I remembered seeing in the dream matched with the second season's art-style and that the other birds will befriend them as they realized they were Maya's friends at the end. :) 12 days ago

Good day, dear Maya fans. I have announcement to tell you guys. On 15th February 2024, Studio 100 has just announced that they're going to produce a 60-minute Maya the Bee special, set to premiere in Poland yet to be released this year. According to Studio 100 marketing department, the feature length special is currently in production and it is the biggest development yet of the franchise since the release of The Golden Orb in 2021, in hope in bringing this franchise to new heights. Well, I have read the whole article from that site and it said that it set to be released in Spring 2024, but I doubt about that since it stated that it's still in production and I hope for it to be a great special for having a plot similar to that of the CGI series or the movies or even to the original anime series. Darn you, Poland! WHY do you have everything about Maya the Bee? Well sorry, but Poland has become a meme of mine because I can't believe how popular is Maya in there and it seems like they have everything about her and that's why I memeing it. XD 3 months ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
Thank you for the news, but from what I have read, this special seems to have no any new actual footages and seems like to be a compilation of some existing episodes, so this is something that I was not expecting, so it turns out to be disappointing as I was more interested to hear news about other future projects like a third season, a fourth movie or a possible reboot TV Show/movie, but for me, the special should have been a project with new footages that were not seen in any season of the CGI series, but if I was born as a Polish, I will still be disappointed by the news though, but it's OK if some people are interested in the special. 10 days ago

While watching both English dubs of the 28th episode, I have noticed some change that was made in the Saban English dub was about the false hornet's gender. In both the original Japanese and European versions, the false hornet was a male, but in the Saban version, his gender was changed to a female by having a female voice and was referred as "ma'am", "she" and "her" by the little bees. For the Sonovision English dub, the character was a male as it's more based on the European version though... Posted 3 months ago

Note: I decided to check out the other dubs that are available on the internet regarding about the false hornet's gender and most of them have made that character a male except for the Saban English, German, Czech and Italian versions that have made the character a female instead, but I will still refer that character as a male in my screentime article for this episode though. 3 months ago

Well, the trailer of the Greek dub of the third film is finally uploaded on YouTube and I saw it and my thoughs on it seems a fine dub, but the only thing that surprised me is that Willy's name is pronounced the same as in English rather than the German pronunciation of his name that was used in almost all Greek dubs of the anime, the CGI series and the first film though... Posted 4 months ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
... and also many Greek people were confused with the pronunciation of his name and missheard his name as "Billy" than "Villy" which are written as "ΞœΟ€Ξ―Ξ»Ο…" and "Βίλυ" in Greek. The funny thing is that he was actually called "Billy" in the Catalan dub of the anime, while in Greece, he was only referred as "Billy" by the people who remembered his name wrong, but his name was written as "ΞœΟ€Ξ―Ξ»Ο…" in a box set of the 80s Greek Lyra doll, but in the actual commercial of the 80s doll set, he was pronounced as "Βίλυ" just like in the anime at the time. So yes, he has three names in Greek: Βίλυ (official), ΞœΟ€Ξ―Ξ»Ο… (semi-official) and Γουίλυ (semi-official until the Greek lyrics of the song "Maya Dance" from the first film and the whole third film, so its official now as of 2024). 4 months ago

I have compared the book to the comic story which it was based on and surprisingly the story in the book was very different from the original comic story and have also made some changes to it such as the king of the bumblebees being related to the queen bee of Maya's hive which is not true in the original comic story and he was not related to the queen bee at all and the beetles were the antagonists in the book version, while in the original comic, the bumblebees were the antagonists who have attacked Maya's hive at the beginning of the original story before they were defeated at the end of the story though. Yes, the bumblebees were good characters in the book version, but not in the original comic story though and that's why I said "based on" rather than "adaptation" because the story is different in the comparison to the original comic story and I knew it would be different before I got the book today. 5 months ago

Today, I got a Maya the Bee book that is in my native language (Greek) and it's a translation to the original book by Waldemar Bonsels. I also have another Greek one based on the same version that I got in 2021, but it was printed in 1980. This book that I recently got was printed in 1931 and it's currently the oldest copy of the book that I ever have as of now, so that means that I have many books from the pre-anime era and that's cool in my opinion and view. :) Posted 5 months ago

This also made me to realize that Maya the Bee had come to Greece with the 30s translation of the book prior to the anime series that came out in 1979 on ERT as I have heard that the book have been translated into over 40 languages worldwide. :) 5 months ago

Today, I got an Italian DVD copy of the anime series which it didn't match the picture that was shown, but it matched with the title on the page listing when I ordered it. The picture that was shown on the page was from the first volume, but it listed as the ninth volume and it came up with that volume instead, which thankfully it's not the same one that I have ordered on the previous year and as of currently, I have the seventh and the ninth volumes in Italian. Today, I got another French book based on the anime and it's the adaptation to the episode where Maya learns to fly which is the second episode of the European version, but the third episode of the Japanese version which I will inform that version soon after I read it and it came up with a random French bookmark which I consider it as a cool addition to the book that I have ordered as the first book based on the first episode didn't have it all... I have read the French book and it's a very faithful adaptation to the original episode, but just like the first French book, it have some differences like when Maya starts helping poor Willy who was afraid of flying by feeding him honey onscreen before his tummy was full and got a bit sick, but he got recovered later in the original episode version and a never seen before scene where Maya talked to Willy about the adventures she had gone through and also told him how beeutiful the world is before they go to sleep together at the end which I found it adorable and how they have so many interactions in those books as one of the changes and just like the first book, this book is also a very great adaptation to the episode that was adapted from and I would recommend those books to those who ship Maya and Willy. :) 6 months ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
I have read the Japanese book and it's a great adaptation to the original story overall, but unfortunately not all chapters from the original book were adapted and it omitted 3 chapters which are the sixth chapter (Puck the fly story), the eighth chapter (Fritz the butterfly story) and the twelfth chapter (Alois the ladybug story), but the good thing is that it's one of the adaptations that adapted the most chapters/stories since there are book adaptations to the original version that are more abridged as those were made to appeal to younger children like telling it like a "fairytale" to them. What I like about this version is that it has so many great illustrations that includes the one from Maya's birth which I'm very glad that they show that part as there are no many books based on the original story that shows illustrations of her birth and that's why I'm happy about that. :) 6 months ago

I have listened to the cassette and it was great overall. The audio play adaptations of the episodes were original instead of taking the audio from the actual episodes like the German cassettes do and it have narrations in it too. The audio play adaptation of the first episode was narrated by Flip, the Hieronimus one by Maya and the Max one by Willy. Also, the voice actors in this one are the same ones from the French dub of the anime itself. For the most parts, the audio play adaptations of the episodes are very faithful to the original episodes, but have some differences like when both Maya and Willy met Flip for first time instead of only Maya meeting him like in the original episode itself, which is a fine change 'cause this also have happened in the first chapter of the Bastei comic book series which is also an adaptation of the first episode despite most chapters are original stories and not adaptations of the existing episodes of the anime series though. 7 months ago

Today, I'm going to tell you some Maya the Bee dream that was bittersweet, but has a happy ending where I watched some footage of a "lost episode" of the anime about Maya getting beat up by some bad insects and her friends were worried about her and she was nearly died that they mourned over her which made me worrying if she really died... I have noticed recently that the Korean dub of the third movie was announced, but I'm still waiting for the Japanese dub of it to come soon since the previous two movies were dubbed in Japanese and I also hope that Masako Nozawa still reprising her role as Willy as she did in the previous two movies. She first voiced him in both seasons of the 1975 anime and I like her 'cause she did a great job in voicing him as he sounds so adorable and the fact is that she is one of my favorite seiyuus. And speaking of Korean dubs, you can easily find some episodes of the 2012 CGI series on YT as well which I wonder if this incarnation of Maya is popular to Koreans since the anime series is so hard to find in that language which it may have been another piece of Maya the Bee lost media, but I do think some Koreans have watched it back when it was broadcasted in those days though. 9 months ago

I have finished reading the new comic book issue that I got and the story was great overall. In this story, Flip has a friend who is also a grasshopper named "Merlin" who was named after the wizard from the King Arthur legends like how Alexander the mouse was named after Alexander the Great, but he is a magician instead of a wizard who showed to everyone all the "magic" tricks he have done, but those tricks turned out to be cheats as he built a leaf shaped cabinet as a magic box while Flip helping him to dig a hole and put a leaf to cover the hole and everyone started to suspect when Maya disappeared and they were all worried that poor Willy cried over her disappearance and the colonel bee and the guards were chasing both Flip and Merlin to arrest them for the fraud that they have done... 11 months ago

...and Maya fell out in the hole and was caught by the termites who want honey from her, but she refused at first until she thought of an idea to trick them by letting them to dig up a hole that lead to her hive to "share" them honey and then she and Willy (who she called him earlier when she was still trapped by the termites by telling him to help her, but when he came back to the hive, he had fallen asleep and slept until Maya woke him up) called everyone to help them to get rid of the termites and set up a trap in their nest as a prison for them at the end. The story ends when the termites were defeated and Maya told Willy about Merlin that reminded him to show to her and Kurt (who was also featured in the story) a "magic" trick that he knows by showing a honey pot which he hid on his back and Maya laughed and congratulated him back for that trick and Kurt was pleased, so yes, that's how it ended. :) 11 months ago

Today, I'm going to tell you another dream, but this time is actually Maya the Bee related. This dream is both weird and interesting and it's an alternate version of the sixth episode of the 1975 anime series. It's the part where Maya met Hans Christoph the blue bottle fly and the scene started the same until Hans Christoph was aware of the danger that he ran and flew away at the end and survived instead of getting caught and get eaten by Schnuck the dragonfly like in the actual episode... Posted 12 months ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
...and after he managed to survive, Schnuck still shows up and appeared in front of Maya, but after that, the rest of my recent dream was not Maya the Bee related, so the Maya the Bee part ended up in there. This made me wish this version actually existed instead of being a dream 'cause it will be great to see another version of the 1975 anime that is more censored than the ones we have in reality... 12 months ago

...and also wish for Hans Christoph to survive in the actual anime as a change to the original 1912 book where he is still getting eaten by Schnuck, but fortunately, there are some books based on the anime that have him survived instead of getting eaten by Schnuck and one book have both Hans and Schnuck being friends instead of enemies, so yes, he survived in some other books related to the anime series. :) 12 months ago

Well, there is something that I want to mention is that it was revealed in one chapter of the Bastei series that other countries exists in Maya the Bee universe where Maya and Willy met a female bee named Suleika who came from Turkey. Willy was jealous of Suleika at first when he saw her having a good relationship with Maya, but later he became friendly to her when she helped him and Maya to find the right ingredients to make the honey from her state/tribe. The honey turned out to be unusual and bizarre to Maya, Willy and other bees from her hive, but when they tasted it, they liked it so much that they thanked Suleika for this amazing/delicious honey recipe. Even Willy himself described its taste as "heavenly-like" when he tasted it. This story made me imagining bees from Islamic countries making honey like that. over a year ago

There is also a very interesting story that could make a great episode for the Studio 100 TV Series (if they made a third season of it) which is a story that is focused on Willy and it's about him who wanted to jump like a grasshopper 'cause he saw Flip doing that every time he sees him and he tried to do that for himself, but he ended up failing at it. He also met one of Flip's relatives (Flop) who tried to teach him how to jump like a grasshopper, but he failed at it for once again. Fortunately, Maya decided to help him how to do the grasshopper jumping in her own way and that actually worked which it made Willy happily trying it out and he succeed at it at the end of the story. I'm overall very glad to see more stories for this series that focused on Willy just like in both anime by Nippon Animation and the cartoon series by Studio 100. over a year ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
There is also a story where Maya and Willy have learned about Africa and its animals through various insects they have met, but in the same story after they have encountered a cow, there was a shocking moment where the cow pooped onscreen in front of Maya and Willy, but poor Willy was the one who was sank in the pile of cow dung and Maya cried when she thought that he died until a male drone bee named Hubert showed up and told her that he is still alive and he helped her to find Kurt to tell him about the incident to rescue Willy from the pile of cow dung and fortunately, Kurt saved Willy at the end of the story as you know that Kurt is a dung beetle after all and he knows a lot about the dungs of various animals that he made out of balls. over a year ago
NectariaKiritsi commented…
And yes, back in those days, they were not afraid of showing risquΓ© stuff like pooping or peeing onscreen as Maya the Bee was originally targeted at the older children before they changed it through various years by targeting it at younger children when Studio 100 bought the rights to the franchise. over a year ago

After researching more about the upcoming Heidi movie "Rescue of the Lynx", Studio 100 is doing a great job at making movies relating to their iconic and popular franchises, so it's very likely that their future Maya the Bee animated project will turns out to be as great as the Heidi movie in my opinion and view. Posted over a year ago

But we don't know what the new project will turns out to be, but some people believed that the TV Show would be continued with a new third season, but what if the future "TV Show" one turned out to be a completely different show instead of being a continuation of the 2012 TV Show? I do think it's very possible that they could reboot the series again with another TV Show instead of continuing the old one for another season. over a year ago

As for another movie, it's possible that they are going to make another one if they decided to continue the movie series after "The Golden Orb", but we don't know if they will pull a "Land Before Time" by making so many of them except if they decide to make a movie that will take place in another different timeline than in the previous three ones, but if you want it to be in the same timeline as the previous three ones, then I will be fine with that one too. over a year ago

Well, there is something that was revealed in the Italian book is that Miss Cassandra knew about Kurt and Max when she explained to Maya, Willy and other bee children about other insects, animals and humans which it surprises me how she knew who they were before Maya met both of them after she left her home. over a year ago

There is something interesting and funny to tell about this Italian book adaptation is that at the end of the first chapter, Maya have dreamed about herself defending her hive against hornets by fighting and defeating them with various type of weapons she had before she realized that it was a dream, but I like how brave and heroic anime Maya is comparing to her original book counterpart who was timorous and never fought with anyone that includes the hornets too 'cause in the original book, only the bee soldiers and guards have fought against hornets, while Maya herself was asleep during those events that happened in the last chapters of the original book. over a year ago

I have finished reading the Italian book and it was great overall and it contained four chapters in total. As for the story of the last chapter, it was a birthday celebration story where Maya and her friends prepared a party for the queen bee as a big surprise for her that made her so impressed that she decided to give a reward for Maya at the end as she was the one who came up with most ideas for that party, so yes, that's how it ended which I'm glad about it overall 'cause it was so fun just like all other previous stories in the book. over a year ago

I know this might be unrelated, but you know what? I recently dreamt about me and my parents went to see a horror theater story titled "Scream!", but it turned out it was a kids theater in "disguise". For the animal friends of the child protagonists, the ones I remembered seeing were a cat, a dog, a bird and a horse and the part that scared me the most was a close-up of the horse screaming because it was so tortured and about to die, but thankfully no one died as I stated above. over a year ago

In episode "Maya to the Rescue", as Max jumped from the blue bird's nest to save himself, he screams "Banzai", a well known Japanese battle cry, used as a formal greeting to the emperor and occasionally used as alternative to "Hurrah" or "Yippee". over a year ago

And in episode "Killer Buzz", Willy screams "Banzai" too as he charges towards the frogs. over a year ago

Hmmm....that sounds very interesting and thank you for informing me about the English dub of those two episodes and it's also very surprising to hear that both Max and Willy said a Japanese word in that dub too, but Willy seems to know more than one Japanese word than Max did if the Spanish dub counts too, lol! I have some great news to tell you. Vicky the Viking is finally coming back in Greece after so many years where the anime used to air back in the 2000s by dubbing the CGI movie first, but does that mean that they will dub the CGI TV Series too? I hope so because it's another property of Studio 100 just like both Maya the Bee and Heidi. I know that this is not a Maya the Bee related news, but this might be possible a hint of The Honey Games and The Golden Orb finally getting dubbed in Greek. Posted over a year ago

Sorry for not updating a while because I was a bit sick, but now that I'm feeling better, I might post more Maya the Bee content whenever I can. Posted over a year ago

Today, I got an Italian copy of a Maya the Bee book which is also based on the original story by Waldemar Bonsels which it has illustrations from the Bastei comic book series which were originally illustrated by AndrΓ© Roche on this month and it's also like my first "Christmas" gift as I have received a random Christmas card by the seller. I'm currently reading it, but when I will finish it, I might post more Maya the Bee related content sooner. Posted over a year ago

Note: A German version of this edition also exists which was printed prior to the Italian one in 1978, while the Italian one was printed in 1980 which was the same year where the anime series debuted in Italy and the same goes for the comic book series too. over a year ago

I have finished reading it and it was overall a great version of the original story and liked the illustrations that they have picked for the book, but some of them were just put to fill the book which not all of them matched with the texts from original book very well, but at least they tried their best by making this version great just like any other books based on the famous incarnation of the character herself that we know and love. over a year ago

Sorry for keep delaying the gondolino book review, but I still have plans to studying more about it along with the comparison between it and the original version of the book which it will be done a few days, as I have some other things to do and also because I posted another article about my opinion and thoughts on the Bastei comic book series which was one of the reasons for the delay, but don't worry because it will come very soon. Today, I got another French copy of the original book that was printed on this year by Ynnis and two issues of the Bastei comic book series which are from a volume-based series which were printed in the 90s and contains more stories than the original magazine series which only contained one story per issue. Well, I will do a comparison of the two French copies of the original book in another article later when I will finish the review of the gondolino version which I promised to be posted soon. I finally have watched the original German version of the 1977 movie from my DVD copy, and what I'm going to say about it is that the quality of it is surprisingly very good and it feels like an actual movie despite being a compilation of four episodes that were used as footages from the movie, but the only thing that disappoints me is that the end credits were omitted from this DVD release, but I will check the VHS copy later when I will get my VCR/DVD combo player in the future.
