I read your arguments on the Debate club, about sociopaths and psychopaths deserving human rights. Very interesting. Henceforth, I decided to add you.

I've been going through Dexter quotes and just saw your question about Dexter not seeming sociopathic anymore because he's been too caring recently. Just thought someone should tell you that sociopaths CAN actually make emotional connections and truly care about those people. A PSYCHOPATH does not make emotional connections.

There are no offical meanings to sociopath and psychopath. They are generally used interchangeably or to indicate some specific personality type characteristic of conscienceless individuals. One type has no self-control, can't disguise their apathy, and is likely to end up in prison just after high school. The other type is more of a mastermind with extreme, deliberate control of their behavior, is coniving, and will likely become a successful business or political leader. Both types completely lack empathy. Unfortunately, the terms are basically useless because there is no official distinction and their exact meaning is dependent on the context and the person using them. One psychologist I've read labelled them as psychopathy A and B, which is probably more effective communication than reliance on the subjective terms sociopathy and psychopathy. If someone identifying as a sociopath has indicated to you that they are capable of such emotional connections, they are ignorant or lying.over a year ago
Just a further note I was forced to delete to meet the limits: If they are ignorant, it is possible they are narcissistic or similar and not truly sociopathic. I doubt a real sociopath would be ignorant of their lack of empathy.over a year ago
I've made a lot of feminist-related YouTube videos, mostly analyzing fiction. I've posted a few here, but I'm more likely to post fiction-related videos in their appropriate Fanpop spots. Would people be okay with me posting all my videos here? Should I just post the non-fiction ones?

I've changed my mind. I've gone over to the other side. I think Twilight's problematic. I still think this club needs major clean-up to stop it from being an anti club. Civility and respect are more important, and the anti material that doesn't critically analyze some detail (like that pic of Dracula screaming because he read Twilight) just comes across as mean. Respectfully disagree, don't bully.
