In the pages of Empire, director Bryan Singer defended the costume, saying it stays true to the design from the comics.
“He\'ll be very similar to images in the comic,” Singer says. “There\'s obviously something very futuristic and yet ancient to the design of both his costume and his physicality.”
The magazine also featured new images of the villain and other characters from the film, seen in the gallery below. The image of Apocalypse is almost identical to the one previously released, but may have been color corrected to tone down his purple hue.
There’s also another shot of Michael Fassbender as Magneto, a shot of Sophie Turner as Jean and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and another featuring Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till as Havok, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast in the X-Mansion’s subbasement. Fans may notice the hole and burn marks on Havok’s chest in that last photo, suggesting the use of one his energy blasts.

Dat face Jean grey too bad ugly face-d hahaha
No Bryan it has nothing at all to do with the Apocalypse of the comics - nothing nice try.............
I\'ve seen better on my 3 year olds drawings he does look like iven ooz Apocalypse was always big with a square jaw this guy is small and just looks old makes no sense to me.
LOL. I didn\'t know Ivan Ooze was part of the XMen lore. LOL Sadly, I was excited about this movie until this was revealed. I won\'t go and watch Ivan Ooze for 2 hours. Sorry.
Come on, the fire is what makes Apocalypse look purple like Ivan Ooze, and we don\'t know his personality and ambitions yet which obviously won\'t be goofy like Ivan Ooze, have patience for the movie or wait for another picture. Another thing I hope to be shown in the movie that must be similar to the comics is the fact that Cyclops & Jean Grey are the key to defeat Apocalypse (Mister Sinister discovers that their union can produce a genetically superior mutant capable of defeating Apocalypse)
