I remember visiting this website once...
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Wolverine Retires, Apocalypse Appears, and More from the 'X-Men' Comic-Con Panel
The huge panel even included a surprise appearance from Channing Tatum in a Gambit T-shirt!
Saturday\'s last panel at Comic-Con\'s Hall H was for
, and with a huge cast it was a big panel hosted by Chris Hardwick. Let\'s jump right into the highlights.
panel got started with a highlight reel showing 15 years of Hugh Jackman\'s career as Wolverine. Afterward he came out and quipped, "Wow I have aged. I have three words for you: Old Man Logan. Read into that as you will."
After that he confirmed once again that he\'d be retiring the character soon. He\'ll be doing one more solo movie that will come after
, and then he\'s done. He accompanied the announcement with a picture of Wolverine with only his middle claw up.
"This next time is going to be the last time I\'m putting on the claws," he said. "One last time."
, the list of stars on the panel was very long. Pictured below (from left) are: Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Lucas Till (Havok), Lana Condor (Jubilee), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), James McAvoy (Professor X), Bryan Singer (director), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse), Olivia Munn (Psylocke), Ben Hardy (Angel), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), and Simon Kinberg (producer).
Bryan Singer says the new movie will take place in 1983 in a totally different world where mutants are mostly accepted. So this timeline diverges from the original
timeline quite a bit because Mystique\'s actions in
changed history. According to Michael Fassbender, even Magneto has settled down, calling him "retired" during the panel.
Oscar Isaac was brought on to play Apocalypse, arguably the X-universe\'s most powerful villain, in the new movie. In the footage shown Saturday we got to see his full transformation into the ancient blue bad guy as he confronts Magneto and Professor X while surrounded by a growing gang of followers. In the comic books, Apocalypse is so powerful that his power limits have never even been clearly defined. Bryan Singer said they had to figure that out for themselves when they were making the movie to create a fully fleshed out character.
Unfortunately we don\'t have the pictures to show you from the footage, but you\'ll just have to believe us when we say the hair in
will not disappoint. Storm has a totally badass mohawk, James McAvoy\'s Professor X finally goes bald, Jean Grey has an \'80s valley girl vibe, and Jennifer Lawrence is completely crimped out as Mystique.
Here\'s what a few of the new cast additions had to say about joining the
Lana Condor: "I think Jubilee to me is the cool girl that I don\'t think I\'ll ever be. She has a sick sense of fashion and an amazing jacket that\'s so yellow and bright and she\'s just cool."
Sophie Turner: After seeing Jean Grey\'s dark side, Sophie couldn\'t wait to dive into her background. "It\'s exciting to be able to figure out how she got that way and how this alienated young girl becomes one of the most powerful mutants in X-Men history."
Olivia Munn: After covering Comic-Con for so long, Olivia was giddy to find herself actually in an
movie. "It feels like the Mother Ship calling me home to come up here."
Ben Hardy: "Dude I have wings. I have some serious badass wings, and that\'s the best thing about Angel. I feel like Angel is every angry or bitter thought I\'ve ever had and it\'s so much fun to play."
Alexandra Shipp: "Storm is kind of lost. She doesn\'t know who she is or how powerful she can be, and she finds Apocalypse who\'s like a God, and she\'s just finding her way and hopefully she can find her way to the X mansion."
7. Stan Lee Helps Take a Huge Superhero Selfie
At the end of the panel Chris Hardwick invited the casts of
to join him onstage to take a selfie with the most superheroes ever. But who could possibly take the picture? How about legendary comic creator Stan Lee, who made a cameo appearance to huge applause.
movie is still in pre-production, but the actor stopped by wearing a Gambit T-shirt to join the selfie.
