November, 2099. The sun has become a dim light that was once a magnificent star. The Earth has grown cold and dark. Soon the sun will go out. No one who can afford to leave stays there, and those that do stay on Earth only do so for reasons of nostalgia or lack of finances. The outer solar system has now become humanity’s home. Large space stations have been built on asteroids all across the solar system. The first of these was the space colony known as New Olympus. What started out as a small colony on a large rock has grown into a massive empire, where neon lights shine brighter than the sun itself and everyone all over the world wishes to live, thanks to breakthroughs in technology, and to some, a breakthrough in human evolution. Thanks to the genius development of team scientists, Maxwell Harrison and Grigori Vercus, they created robotic enhancements for humans. Not just for limbs, but for anything. Organs, bones, skin, any part of the human body could be replaced with enhancements. With funding from the LiFiL Corporation and appeal from all over the world, the new evolution in science was a breakthrough. But it wasn’t all perfect. What started out as a new medical evolution soon became a hot trend among the resident of New Olympus. Soon, people were changing parts of their body, not for health reasons, but for fashion and to stay trendy. Soon enough, almost everyone, be it for medical or for trends, had robotic enhancements. Some were against it completely and were sickened by how people changed themselves for enhancements, seeing it as a sign of throwing their humanity away, and would protest. But regardless, LiFiL would continue to offer enhancements to those that could afford it. Soon, Maxwell and Grigori seperated due to differentiating opinions and went to create their own things. Maxwell wished to create robots for the sake of bettering humanity, such as robots that could clean and do things to aid humans, like police units and nurse robots. Grigori, however, was more interested in the corporate side of it, wanting to create more lifelike robots with anything he could. Robots that had the realistic properties of humans, even had oil that was the color of human blood and organs made of fabric material to look just like humans. But these machines were created for personal use rather than the betterment of society, all provided by LiFiL. Be it house maids or even for sexual pleasures, these machines were different from Maxwell’s robots and came known as Cybers. But with Grigori’s desire to best Maxwell, he wanted to surpass him at everything. And to do that, he had to give the machines free will. Maxwell gave his robots the ability to choose what they wanted to do, thanks to a creation known as the Atlas Chip, which gave the machines free will, as well as had control over all the robots. Only Grigori knew of the Atlas Chip. It was a mystery to others. But Grigori knew that if he could give his Cyber’s free will, then it would be all he needed to best Maxwell. Soon, his rivalry turned into obsession to be better, and gave his machines true free will. This resulted in many machines becoming self aware and even hostile, but able to hide in plain sight unless proper procedures were met to weed them out. But the Atlas Chip was far more than a way to control the robots and the Cybers. It could control all life on New Olympus, all life that was given enhancements of any kind. Whether this was done by Grigori or Maxwell is unknown, but if the Atlas Chip were to fall into the wrong hands, it would create a new reality on New Olympus. But these are just rumors spread around the city in whispers. But they say that whoever holds the Atlas Chip controls the entire city. But, of course, this is all just a myth.
