(Walter and Philip walk out of Ricardo’s office)
Ricardo: Thanks again, boys, for another job well done
Walter: No problem, Ricardo. We’re always happy for more work (Walks out with Philip)
Philip: So, are we ready for the Big One?
Walter: The what?
Philip: You know, the bank robbery. I thought we could give it a little name to make it sound cooler
Walter: Philip, this isn’t some crime movie…. But I do like that. And no, we are not ready to deal with the Big One just yet. Before we can do that, we deal with a few things. First off, the Italians are running quite a drug ring here in Knoxville. If we can take care of them, than there’s no doubt that Ricardo will have the bigest drug ring in the city. After that, we’ll need to do what we can to get the police off of us. And once we’re done there, we’ll need to worry about Sanchez and his gang, Ricardo’s biggest rival.
Philip: That sounds pretty dangerous
Walter: You’re right about that, it is. But it will get us a lot of money, and a lot of money is what two nobodies like us need. I need money to get my son to love me again, and you need money to help your mom
Philip: Yeah, I guess your right.
Walter: Great. I’ll see you tomorrow (Heads home)
Philip: Yeah, see you tomorrow (Heads home)
Walter: (Parks his car in a parking lot) (Walks to a door and knocks on it)
Hannah: (Opens the door) What do you want, Walter?
Walter: I just came to see my son
Hannah: I thought you only came on the weekends
Walter: I made time. So, you still seeing Mr. Perfect?
Hannah: No, I dumped him. It wasn’t working out. He was too boring
Walter: Oh, that’s a shame. I guess Mr. Perfect #7 didn’t work out after all
Hannah: Shut up. You’re here to talk to Trevor, not me (Turns around) Trevor, you’re deadbeat father’s here
Walter: Real nice. I’m right here.
Trevor: (Walks over, his face in his phone) What is it, dad?
Walter: Get this, son. Your dad is gonna become a rich man soon.
Trevor: Is that so? (Keeps texting)
Walter: It sure is so. You’re gonna be able to go to college, get that car you always wanted, and be able to just show a bit of respect for your old man
Trevor: Money ain’t gonna make me respect you, dad.
Walter: Oh, of course it will. I mean, what more could you want
Trevor: (Looks up from the phone) For you to actually be there and not just sit around, drunk
Walter: ……… Oh
Trevor: So, is that all you wanted to say
Walter: Y-yeah, that’s it… I’ll, uh… Just be going now (Heads to the door) Love you, Trevor
Trevor: (Waves him out as he keeps his eyes on the phone)
Walter: …… (Closes the door)
Philip: (Sitting at the table with his mother, eating dinner) So mom, get this
Philip’s Mother: What is it, sweeite?
Philip: I’m gonna be able to get you the money you need. You won’t need any foodstamps anymore. We’re gonna get you a nice dress, a big house, and the best jewlery you could ask for
Philip’s Mother: (Sets her fork down) Philip… You’re not doing anything illegal to get that money, are you?
Philip: W-what? No mom. Not at all
Philip’s Mother: Are you sure? I told you that once you got out of jail, that you shouldn’t be stealing money for me. You were already arrested once. I can’t bare my little baby going back there. I don’t need money to be happy, Philip. I just want my little boy to be safe
Philip: (Looks down at his plate)
Philip’s Mother: I’m sorry. What are you doing to get the money
Philip: (Keeps lookign down) I got a job with my friend at this own place. If I work hard enough, I may just get promoted
Philip’s Mother: Oh Phillip, that’s wonderful. For a second, I thought you were doing something illegal again
Philip: Y-yeah (Chuckles)
Walter: (Walks into his apartment and sits on the bed)
Philip: (Falls onto the bed, and rests there)
(As Philip sits there, his phone rings)
Walter: (Hearing his phone ring, he answers it)
Philip: (Answers the phone) Hello?
???: I know who you are
Walter: Who the hell is this?
???: My name isn’t important. What is important is that I know who you are.
???: Philip, is it?
Philip: How did you know
???: I know plenty on you. I know about that robbery at the gas station, as well as that drug dealer with illegal substances in his case.
Walter: (Grits his teeth as he listens)
???: Not to mention, the shootout between Ricardo’s men, Sanchez’s men, the Italians, and the Knoxville police.
Philip: What do you want
???: Simple. Just want to meet you
Walter: Meet me?
???: That’s right. Meet me at the Mars Bucks cafe at seven PM. Don’t be late (Hangs up)
Philip: (Slowly sets the phone down) Mom? I’m going out.
Walter: (Heads to the Mars Bucks cafe, where he sees Philip) Philip, what are you doing here?
Philip: What are you doing here
(A man alone at a table looks at them) Good, you’re both here. Sit down.
(Walter and Philip sit down)
???: My names Henry. I’m a detective (Sips his coffee)
(Walter and Philip sit there, secretly nervous as they look at the man)
Henry: I’m not here to arrest you. I’m here to make a deal.
Walter: What kind of deal?
Henry: I want you two to do my dirty work
Walter: Not a goddamn chance in he-
Philip: Walter, please. Let him talk
Henry: Thank you, Philip. Listen, I may be a detective, but I have worked with a lot of criminals. I’ve paid them to do work for me, in order to get some criminals caught, giving me some respect from the people, as well as getting some extra cash. Here’s what’s gonna happen. You’re gonna take out whoever I tell you to. Catch them, or kill them. It doesn’t matter. And with each job you two do for whichever group you work for, I want half of what you make
Walter: Half?!
Henry: Did I stutter (Sips his coffee) If you want to argue, I’m sure we can take this to the station. I’ve got plenty on you two. You can either take the deal or leave it, and I recommend taking it. We’ll be sure to discuss this again soon. Oh, and thanks for paying for my drink (Walks out of the cafe)
Philip: Walter… What are we gonna do
Walter: ….. I…. don’t know (Sits there, his head in his hands)
Ricardo: Thanks again, boys, for another job well done
Walter: No problem, Ricardo. We’re always happy for more work (Walks out with Philip)
