Well, I thought it was time to make myself look like a creep. There are always those one girls who act very little like girls and behave more like males, which is what makes a tomboy. What separate’s tomboys from girls is how they behave. Other girls would use makeup, are always making their hair look nice, and wear clothing made for their gender. Tomboy’s rarely use makeup, if ever, don’t give a damn about their hair, and prefer a simple T-shirt. And that is why I always thought tomboy’s to be the best kind of female… Yes, I am aware that I am sounding like a creep. Kinda hard to avoid with a list like this. Now, some rules. These have to be tomboys from things I have seen, and only one per franchise. So, with that said, it’s time to make myself sound horribly creepy.
#10: Princess Daisy from Super Mario Bros.
Let’s start with Princess Peach’s…. sister? cousin? friend? It really isn’t sure. All we know is that she is a princess who first appeared in Super Mario Land for the Gameboy. Now, some of you may disagree that Daisy is a tomboy, since she is seen wearing a dress. While at first, it seems that way, Daisy is actually a huge tomboy. Unlike Peach, who is the biggest girly-girl in Nintendo, Daisy is nothing like that. She is a lot more likely to compete in sports like racing, tennis, golf, soccer, baseball, you name it, she is there. Sure, Peach is there, but when she isn’t playing sports, she’s sipping goddamn tea or getting herself kidnapped waiting for Mario to save her. Daisy is always competing in sports (Or at least when we see her in games, she is). And only once has she been kidnapped, unlike Peach. Sure, we don’t know much about Daisy, which is why she is only number ten, but she is a tomboy in the most popular game franchise ever, so that’s worth something.
#9: Kim Pine from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Kim was a very interesting character in the movie- No, the game- No, that one animated short on Adult Swim- No, the graphic novels- She was just an interesting character. Sounding very sarcastic and not really caring for others. After Scott saved her from Simon Lee, they began dating and she became Scott’s first girlfriend. Unfortunately, that didn’t go over well, as they broke up when Scott moved to Toronto, Canada. However, after some time, she too moved to Canada, where they met again as friends and formed the band, Sex Bob-omb. Though, she always loved Scott secretly, but felt like she wasn’t as attractive as other girls. Hell, the creator of Scott Pilgrim himself stated that she was less beautiful than the other female characters. Guess that really doesn’t help her much. Oh well, at least she is an amazing drummer. Also, she works at a video store… I don’t know why, but it makes me want to watch Clerks.
#8: Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran Highschool Host Club
If I didn’t explain this to you, you would think Haruhi was a guy. However, she is actually a female. Due to having a cross-dressing father, she believed that people should not be judged due to their appearances, and that explains her appearance. However, she was accidently sent to Ouran Academy, where she is mistaken as a boy by others, even Host Club. What makes her different from other girls (Despite her appearance) Is that she is able to ignore the charms of the Host Club, unlike other girls who would lose their minds over them. That is what makes her a very special kind of tomboy. Ones who can ignore flirtatious men, and not have the anger inside them to shout rape. Also, I think it is also important to point out that she is the most intelligent person in her school, earning her a scholarship to the best schools in the world. I guess changing your looks to be mistaken by the opposite gender really pays off in the end
#7: Naomi Nakashima from Corpse Party: Tortured Souls
Hey, let’s talk about Corpse Party, that one game and anime where high school students get stabbed by ghost children with scissors….. I oddly like this anime…. And here you all thought I wasn’t enough of a creep. Anyway, Namoi is one of the survivors after entering Heavenly Host Elementary School. She is said to be a very tomboyish girl around Satoshi Mochida, a boy she usually gets into arguments with, but secretly has a crush on him. However, she does act like a normal girl when she is around her best friend Seiko Shinohara. The only thing that makes Naomi different from the others is that she believes she is the one who killed (SPOILER BLOCKER) and felt guilty about it, until the spirit of this person told her she forgave her. She is also able to fight off being possessed by the evil spirits in Heavenly Host. And that is what makes her a great character. Able to show emotions, even when she is trying to be a badass. Oh, and on the Wiki Page for her, it tells us her bust size, which is states that she has a DD cup……. Japan; Sexualizing underaged girls since the 80s
#6: Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Hey, I never said there was a rule that every character had to be human, now did I? I would have chosen Applejack, but she hasn’t had her breakthrough episode yet, or possibly, ever will, so I am just going to stick with Rainbow Dash. What makes Rainbow Dash a tomboy is her very competitive personality. The one thing she does in almost every episode is go as fast as possible. That is literally the one thing iconic about her (Besides her voice, her mane, her personality, her cutie mark, and every goddamn thing else). The reason I prefer Rainbow Dash over Applejack (Besides that Rainbow Dash has had a better and more emotional episode than Applejack ever had) is because of how she is ten times more athletic. She pushes herself as hard as she can to try and do her best, especially when it is a contest of sorts, and is always trying to win. I think that determination is what I can respect about her. “But Wind, what about that article you made where you said Rainbow Dash was a terrible character”. I have no idea what you're talking about. “But you made that article saying Rainbow Dash was an overrated character-” Nope, no idea what you’re talking about.
#5: Tetra from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
I would have chosen Malon since she is a girl who does hard work you wouldn’t see women do. And I also would have chosen Zelda herself, since she did turn into Sheik that one time. But I went with Tetra because she is from Wind Waker. And why is that a reason and not a piss poor cop-out? Because it’s my list, so shut up- Anyway, Tetra is known as the leader of a band of pirates who sail the Great Sea and… fire rocks at birds, shoot kids out of catapults, rob a bomb store, and let children come on their ship…. They aren’t really good pirates, are they? But Tetra is easily the best member of the group…. That’s why she’s leader. She is able to scare men who are taller and probably older than her to make them do what she wants, and she is a much better fighter than any of them…. Even if she still gets overpowered in the end, but she tried. She tried unlike the rest of them. So we gotta giver her points for effort. And of course, she really loves to mess with Link? Why? Because she can catapult him into a wall. And it’s funny.
#4: Marle from Chrono Trigger
At first, I didn’t think Marle would make this list. But I had to put a Square Enix character on this list and my options were either Marle or Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII…. So obviously, I told Lightning to piss off and that is how Marle made the list. Marle is mostly known as Princess Nadia and her father is the king. However, she didn’t like the royal life and left to go and explore the world along with Chrono, and while she isn’t the best fighter…. In fact, I think we should have gotten a better party member- Marle is really good with magic and is a damn good healer. She is also very rebellious against her father, though she still does care for him, and tries her hardest to redeem his trust after he becomes angry with her, which leads to quite possibly my favorite side quest in the game, which isn’t an easy choice to make in Chrono Trigger, let me tell you. Not to mention, her friendship with Chrono, which soon turns into a romantic love, is very well done. And yes, they are a romantic couple. This is proven in the canon ending, so shut up. It just goes to show, a pixelated character from a 90s game is more interesting than a protagonist from a next gen game…. Go to Hell, Lightning.
#3: Tomo Takino from Azumanga Daioh
Ah yes, Tomo from Azumanga Daioh. My favorite anime ever (Cowboy Bebop)- My second favorite anime ever. Now, I love all the characters in the show, but Tomo is the one thing that makes this anime stand out from other high school comedy animes. Tomo is known for being a very energetic and hyper girl, always trying to compete against people just for fun instead of gloating rights. Even though she is very competitive, she is a huge slacker and incredibly lazy. Not to mention, she does terrible in school, barely getting by. The only reason she was able to make it into high school was when she actually tried, but only because Yomi told her that she could never make it into high school… And she did. And now she keeps annoying Yomi every day. That’s friendship I guess. Oh, and she is also the only person in the entire show who enjoys the near death experience that is sitting in a car that Yukari is driving…. Guess she really enjoys that kind of insanity.
#2: Chie Satonaka from Persona 4
Oh hell yes. If there is any character I ever try to get my character to date in Persona 4: Golden, it’s Chie…. This isn’t helping people think I’m not creepy. Chie is one of the first members to join your party, and that is perfectly fine with me. She is most known for being a fan of karate. However, instead of actually doing karate herself, she just watches it on movies. Not to mention, she really enjoys eating beef steak. Hell, just say the word, and she’ll be there. She is also best friends with Yukiko, who is practically the exact opposite of Chie. Whereas Chie is tomboy with an attitude, Yukiko is a very quiet girl who is very polite. And, just to add to Chie’s attitude, she really loves beating on Yousuke as much as she can. Weather its for calling her dumb, to singing her up for a beauty pageant. And that is what makes her so funny. Also, in Golden, if you do date her, she just gets all nervous and I find it kinda funny, seeing as she is unable to react to the whole thing. Guess that’s a tomboy for you
#1: Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy VII
Lightning will never make it onto a positive top ten list. The only place she’ll end up is the trash can for being so goddamn bland. Anyway, Final Fantasy VII is a great game. And what better character to put at number one than the character who made it into my favorite video game characters ever list. Tifa is a girl who is not afraid to do anything. She will gladly help Cloud on his adventures to stop Sephiroth from draining the planet of energy to become a God, and she will help Barrett stop a greedy organization from using the energy to become rich. Being a long time friend of Cloud, she will do whatever she can to help him on his adventure, and, hell, if she didn’t save Cloud from a collapsing city when he became a temporary vegetable, Cloud would probably be dead. Not to mention, she is always seeing the good in people, wanting to help others as best as she can. And then there’s her fighting style. Cloud uses a sword, Barrett uses a hand machine gun, and Aerith uses a… stick thing. But Tifa…. Oh, Tifa. She uses her goddamn fists. She kickboxes her enemies to death. Name any other girl who kick boxes soldiers with guns to submission. That is freaking awesome. Sure, people look at Tifa in a different way (It’s because of the short shirt and the VERY short shorts) but I see her as an awesome fighter who will do anything to help others. Also, she suplexes a giant snake…. And that is why she is one of my favorite video game characters.
So, there you have it. Did you enjoy the list. Tell me what you thought of it. With that said, I will see you all next time
#10: Princess Daisy from Super Mario Bros.
