So, after re-reading my Attack on Titan Abridged review from a year ago, I noticed something… My reviewing skills back then were fucking awful. Oh, and I also promised to review more abridged series. Well shit, looks like I got no other choice. So, let’s pick one. I could go with the obvious and say Dragonball Z Abridged, but, come on. Do you really need me to tell you that this is worth watching? No…. Wait. It’s October 1st… And in a month comes…. I got it. Hellsing Ultimate Abridged… Because why not.
So, Hellsing Ultimate Abridged is an abridged series by TeamFourStar, the same guys who made Dragonball Z Abridged, so you know it’s going to be good. It still follows the original plot of Hellsing Ultimate…. sometimes, but keeping that great sense of humor. Instead of Alucard being a sadistic loveable asshole, he’s still a sadistic loveable asshole but with a sarcastic personality, and he is kind of a smartass. You also have all the other characters, like Seres, Sir Integra, Walter, Alexander Anderson, The Major, and all the other one off characters that everyone who watched the series stopped giving a shit about.
For those of you who haven’t watched Hellsing Ultimate, it follows the Hellsing Organization, a group dedicated to protecting London from the threats of vampires and ghouls (Which is bullshit because the ghouls act more like zombies). So, they send Alucard, a vampire who works for the Hellsing Organization, to go and kill vampires with his overly long pistol. I swear, they wideangle lens the shit out of that gun. Anyway, this also leads to a group of Nazis known as Millennium, who are planning on using Nazi vampires (Yes, it is as evil as it sounds) to take over London and start another World War.
With an anime as disturbing as this, you knew TeamFourStar had to make a joke out of it. And surprisingly, it worked well. What we got was a hilarious set of comedy with some of the best writing I have seen in an abridged series. Honestly, I don’t want to say anymore than this, because this is a series that is worth watching. Let’s just say that this is definitely one of the top five best abridged series on the internet. HOWEVER, there is one flaw- One major flaw that keeps this from being the best abridged series out there. This series only releases one episode a year. Each year, on the beginning of November, a new Hellsing Ultimate Abridged comes out. And we have to wait a whole damn year to see new episodes. I know that Hellsing Ultimate only has ten episodes, but come on. But, let me tell you, that one year wait is definitely worth it.
I know there isn’t a lot to say about this series, but, what can I say without ruining the fun for everyone. It is just that great of a series. If you find it, I recommend that you watch it. Just make sure you can stomach constant violence and death, because trust me, this anime will show you all the violence that this anime has. But, hey, that’s only my opinion. What’s Your Take.
