Welcome to the third list of the Halloween related lists. Today, we will be looking at the apparitions from the other world, or in a more understandable term, ghosts. What makes ghosts so iconic is that no one knows if they are evil, good, or just plane pissed off. That is what makes ghosts so interesting. So, today, let us look at these specters and see which ones are on the list. Rules, as usual. Only one ghost per franchise and only the ones I’ve seen. Now, with that said, let’s get started
#10: Sim Ghosts from The Sims
Now, death is real hard for anyone. Whether it’s a loved one that dies, or if its you who is dying. But, in the Sims, there is a pretty creepy easter egg. Whenever a Sim is killed in your house, they can then be seen walking around, doing all kinds of things. It’s almost as if they are actually alive, but, obviously, they are not. Their ghosts. I really don’t have a lot to say about this, because, there isn’t a whole lot for one to do in the Sims, but for what these ghosts have, it is actually pretty creepy
#9: Slimer from Ghostbusters
Now, why is it that, out of all the ghosts in the Ghostbusters movies, I chose Slimer. Because this is the first ghost that the Ghostbusters took down. When the Ghostbusters meet Slimer at Sedgwick Hotel, they see that he is actually not a very violent ghost. Just really loves to eat… A lot. Also, Slimer is a ghost made purely out of ectoplasm, so whenever he passes through walls, he leaves slime. He also did the same when he passed through Bill Murray. And in the second movie, Slimer became the Ghostbusters pet…. This is why no one likes the second movie. Still, Slimer is a great ghost and a wonderful stepping stone for the Ghostbusters.
#8: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde from Pac-Man
Now, what can I really say about these guys… Seriously, what can be said. These ghosts didn’t really have a lot going for them. Sure, they have different strategies for getting PAc-Man, but personality wise, not much, to be honest. Still, these guys are really iconic in the video game world, being the first video game ghosts to become popular. Sure, just like the Sim Ghosts, I don’t got much to say, but these guys are still pretty cool.
#7: Gengar from Pokemon
It’s not cheating… IT’S NOT! Gengar is a pretty good ghost Pokemon if you ask me. Is he the creepiest? Well, when you compare him to Haunter, Chandelure, and Dusclops, not really, but he is still pretty creepy. Gengar is said to be a mischievous Pokemon, by casting curses on people… Yeah, because when I think of a punch of kids pulling pranks, I think of them holding spices in a cauldron casting dangerous, and probably deadly curses. He is also said to enjoy the terror of his victims, which is actually kinda disturbing. However, it is also said that he is very loyal to his trainer, much like all Pokemon. Oh, and in Pokemon X and Y, we were introduced to Gengar’s mega evolution, which honestly looks freaking awesome. Gengar is a pretty good Pokemon, and easily a creepy ghost type.
#6: Ghost Ganon from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Ah yes, my second favorite boss in Ocarina of Time (Sorry, Ghost Ganon, but Twinrova just did better). Ghost Ganon is the first boss you face as adult Link in the Forest Temple. I mean, the Forest Temple was creepy enough, with the disturbing music, the Poe Sisters being anywhere, the dark atmosphere, and those GODDAMN WALLMASTERS! So it’s safe to say that Ghost Ganon fits in here perfectly. Ghost Ganon start the fight by riding his horse into a painting, and he will appear in several paintings. You have to shoot at the right Ghost Ganon in order to damage him. Once you do, he will then fire a lightning ball at you, which you have to knock back in a deadly game of tennis until you hit him with it, then hack away at him. It’s a pretty cool boss fight. All I can say is that I am glad they brought Ghost Ganon back in Wind Waker. And he looks pretty damn awesome, too.
#5: TV Fish from Gregory Horror Show
Gregory House is not the safest place to live. I mean, you got a house with a chef who kills people that hates his food, a doctor with an axe stuck in his head, a mirror that shows people’s true selves, and a fucking bandito who challenges people to a gunfight. But the scariest character in Gregory House has to be the creepy TV Fish. The TV Fish is a floating fish ghost with a TV for a head. This actually sounds kinda stupid at first, but when you understand it more, it is actually terrifying. If someone is to look at the TV on his head, TV Fish will then show the viewer their worst memories, which is just screwed up. Sure, he only appeared for a short time in the anime, but then again, who hasn't?
#4: The Grady Twins from The Shining
GODDAMN, THESE TWO SCARED ME WHEN I WAS LITTLE! My crazed uncle showed me this movie when I was only ten, and when I saw these two girls, I just lost my mind. So, I will just be quick with this one, because the terrible memories are starting to come back. The Grady Twins were two girls who were the daughters of the owner of the hotel Jack and his family is staying in. However, after their father went insane, he killed both of them, and now they are just two ghosts that stand in the hallway speaking in unison. IT’S FREAKING CREEPY! NEXT ENTRY, PLEASE!
#3: King Boo from Luigi’s Mansion
This guy has some serious guts to go and kidnap Mario. King Boo made his first appearance in Luigi’s Mansion… I think, and ever since then, he has still been real creepy. Sure, he’s nothing more than a Boo with a crown on his head, but he is still a real creepy ghost. First off, he actually captured Mario, the most famous video game character of all time. This meant that Luigi had to go and save him. Second, Boo actually possessed the body of Bowser. It was said that Bowser was dead in the game, and now, Boo is using his body as a way to defeat Luigi. That is just creepy. And third, he is the king to a whole army of Ghosts, that can change their size, possess things, and go through walls… They still have social problems though, since they can’t look someone in the eyes without hiding… Still, King Boo is just so creepy, and so awesome at the same time.
#2: Betelgeuse from Beetlejuice
Now, how many of you remember this popular movie from the eighties. Now, this is a movie made by Tim Burton, the guy who basically makes PG movies just so he can scare children for life, like he did with Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, and The Corpses Bride. And Betelgeuse is no exception. Betelgeuse is pretty much another one of those zany crazy kind of characters. He’s like the cat from the Cat in the Hat movie… except he’s actually funny and is not in a terrible movie. However, even though he is silly and goofy, he is not a good guy. He is pretty much wanting to marry Lydia, the daughter to the owners of the house that was once owned by the Maitlands (If you saw the movie, you know what I mean). Betelgeuse’s reason for doing this is so he could cause havoc across the mortal world. Sure, he may not be the good guy, but neither are any of the other ghosts on this list, so, he’s perfect for this spot.
#1: Sachiko from Corpse Party
Oh my god. And I thought the other ghosts on this list were scary, but Schiko. She is the definition of nightmares. Sachiko was once a young girl who was usually not friends with anyone. One day, she was alone with her teacher, who had intentions on harassing her (Well, he wanted to do more, but I want to keep this list PG-13). So, in an attempt to avoid this, she jumped out the window, which resulted in her death. After she died, the teacher, as well as the principal of the school, who didn’t want to ruin the reputation of the school, hid her body, and she was soon forgotten. Out of anger, she used her paranormal powers to send the school to a different dimension… somehow, where she began kidnapping and murdering countless children, including those who screw up the Paper Doll Ritual, a ritual in which one must count a saying a certain amount of times, and if they count too much or not enough, then everyone involved in the ritual will be sent to the dimension and possibly die. What makes Sachiko so scary is just how she lacks an emotion and any remorse for her actions, making her the scariest ghost in… anything. Hell’s she’s easily one of the scariest character I’ve ever seen, which easily earns her the number one spot.
So, there you have it. Did you enjoy the list? Tell me what you thought of it. With that said, I will see you all next time.
