There are a lot of heroes, or at least protagonists in animation. but, what is a hero without the villain. A villain, or antagonist, if you will, is usually some obstacle that the protagonist must overcome, with the villain being the largest obstacle the protagonist has faced yet. And, let me tell you all something, there are a LOT of amazing villains out there. From cartoons, to animated movies, to anime, they’re everywhere. And they are just so awesome. So, today, I am going to talk about the top twenty most awesome animated villains. Now, a few rules before we start the list. These are villains from animated shows that I have seen and villains that I like, so, if there is a villains you wanted to see that isn’t on the list, either I don’t like them, or haven’t seen the animated show or movie that they are in. Also, only one villain per series. Oh, and if you’re wondering if Broly from Dragonball Z is going to be on the list, no, I refuse. He sucks. Okay, enough about that. Lets start the list.
#20: Saddam Hussein from South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut (SPOILERS)
You know you’re starting a list off strong when the villain you start with is able to scare Satan himself. In reality, Saddam Hussein was known as a cruel and merciless dictator who wanted to bring power to his country, and killed whoever he felt was a traitor. But, in this movie, Saddam is just a homosexual sex maniac. Before he went to Hell, his goals were to take over Canada, only to fail, get eaten by wild boars, and be sent to Hell, where he becomes the abusive boyfriend of Satan. But in the movie, he shows his true villainous side. Saddam manipulates and abuses Satan in order to gain his powers, which is what he uses to try and take over Earth. However, this doesn’t work in the end, and Satan throws Saddam off a cliff, where he is impaled on a spike. However, even after his death, he ends up back in Hell, since he can’t go anywhere else, and his villainy continues. He is no doubt a very manipulative man, and not only can he manipulate Satan, but even God, as he is able to hide a very obvious nuclear weapon in plane sight from him. However, Saddam is lower because, well, he is just meant to be a joke. But, it’s South Park, what do you expect. Still, even though Saddam is a joke, he is probably as threatening a villain as South Park will get.
#19: Mewtwo from Pokemon: The First Movie
Let’s face, guilty pleasure or not, the Pokemon movie really wasn’t that great. Hell, it was god awful. But, at least Mewtwo was a pretty awesome villain. In the beginning of the movie, Mewtwo is created by a group of scientists, whose goals are to make the ultimate Pokemon. However, he sees that humans treat him like an experiment, and in anger, he destroys the lab, and kills all the scientists inside… In case you didn’t get that, Mewtwo just KILLED people in POKEMON…. Do you see how dark that is. After this, Mewtwo grows a strong hatred for humans, and begins creating a clone army of Pokemon in order to destroy all humans. What makes Mewtwo so threatening is that, at the time this movie was released, Mewtwo was the strongest Pokemon in the game. Even his Pokedex says that Mewtwo is the most cruel Pokemon in the world, and his actions in this movie really show it. Mewtwo has no remorse for humanity, and he also despises their Pokemon, stating that they are blind to reality and will die along with the humans for being their slaves. Not to mention he is possibly the only villain that ever came close to killing- yes, KILLING- Ash Ketchum. So, we have a villain who has killed people in a show meant for kids… If that isn’t a threatening villain, I don’t know what is.
#18: Medusa Gorgon from Soul Eater (SPOILERS)
Now, when you think of a comedy anime like Soul Eater, would you imagine that the villain is a cruel and sinister woman who tortures her own son and tries to resurrect demons? Probably not. Medusa was once fighting Death alongside Arachne, but she then left her to die in order to find the demon who was the embodiment of madness, so she joined Death Academy and became a nurse to found out where he is. At the same time, when she had her son, Crona, she replaced his blood with Black Blood, in order for him to take the souls of innocent people instead of the souls of demons. She is also one of the most sadistic people on the show, from enjoying the pain and misery of those she beats, to locking her son into a dark room when he fails to do what she tells him to. However, she does have a pretty humorous romantic attraction to Stein for his other sadistic side, even though Stein is far from being as evil as Medusa. That is probably what makes Medusa lower on this list is that she cares about someone even though they are not on the same side. But, she is manipulative, sadistic, and just an overall bitch. That is what makes her such a great villain.
#17: Other Mother from Coraline (SPOILERS)
Coraline is as dark as you can possibly get with a kids movie. Just the sheer horrors you will experience with this movie is just barely keeping it in the PG ratings. But, trust me, none of those scenes come close to the villain of the movie that is Other Mother. The first time Coraline meets her, she looks exactly like her real mother, except she has buttons for eyes. She is seen as a very friendly woman, and begins to be more of a mother than Coraline’s real mother. However, after multiple visits, Coraline is warned to leave immediately. Of course, she doesn’t, and, during one visit, The Other Mother asks to replace Coraline’s eyes with buttons. After Coraline refuses, we see The Other Mother lose her smile and turn into a frown. This is where it gets creepy. Of course, if you thought seeing a person who is always smiling start to frown was creepy enough, trust me, it gets much worse. She then begins to grow taller, and more slender, and look more and more inhuman with each passing second. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it turns out that The Other Mother took the eyes of three past children, then locked them into the mirror (It’s a long story) And killed them. And to think that you couldn’t get any more terrifying of a villain in a Tim Burton movie. Of course, that was until he introduced us to the Other Mother, a manipulative creature that has a terrifying appearance. If only Tim Burton could make movies like that and not…. Whatever the hell Alice in Wonderland was.
#16: Cell from Dragonball Z
Now, I wanted to put Frieza on this list, but I he isn’t as awesome as Cell. And I can’t put Vegeta on this list because he’s more of an anti-hero. And- No, I refuse to put Broly on this list. He sucks. So, that is why I have to go with Cell. Cell was first shrouded in mystery, as people began disappearing, and Gohan finding a giant bug shell next to a time machine. Then, before we know it, we are introduced to Cell. Cell is a large bug like creature, who was created by Dr. Gero, who was given the same powers of all of the strongest warriors in the world, including Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and more. He has even become stronger than the Androids (Or cyborgs). What worse is that, even though Cell was strong enough from here, he got even stronger as he changed into different forms. Sure, he may have looked… really stupid, but that didn’t make him less threatening. And trust me, he is REALLY threatening. Not to mention he is able to hold off most of the Z fighters during his fight with Vegeta, AND is able to absorb the power of both Android’s 17 and 18. It’s really messed up how Cell was able to be this powerful. Also, he isn’t as overrated of a villain as Frieza or Broly- UGH! But, he’s lower because, well, Just LOOK at his Semi-Perfect form. Ugh. Still, he is an awesome villain nonetheless.
#15: Starlight Glimmer from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Now, what makes Starlight so much of an interesting choice for a villain is that she isn’t some evil alicorn, a dangerous queen, a large centaur, the god of chaos, or large thorny roots that look like they belong in hentai, which their probably is a picture of somewhere on the internet. No, Starlight Glimmer is just a simple average pony. What she does it try to make all ponies equal in every single way, even taking their cutie marks and changing them to equal sings. She was even able to stop Twilight, who is an alicorn princess… Okay, she’s a princess, and if the internet taught us anything, princess… are pretty useless. But, that’s beside the point. Her goal is to use her magic to try and cutie unmark everyone in Equestria. She was even able to manipulate the entire town of Our Town… No, that’s the real name of the town. Creative, I know. Not to mention, for a pony who was just a simple pony like everyone else, she was pretty much the only one able to get away from the Mane 6, and let me remind you that none of the other villains lasted that long, and they had much more power than Starlight Glimmer. That is what Starlight Glimmer such a great villain. She is manipulative, and very cunning, and I REALLY hope she comes back in the season finale.
#14: Him from The Powerpuff Girls
Now, it was pretty hard to decide between Him and Mojo Jojo when it came to the Powerpuff Girls. While Mojo Jojo was freaking hilarious, Him was just disturbing, so no doubt, I chose Him. Him is easily one of the creepiest villains of my childhood, with his appearance looking like that of the devil with lobster claws, and having a voice that ranges from being disturbingly high to terrifyingly low. Unlike the villains who try to beat the girls with physical strength, Him fights the girls with emotional feelings. He was also responsible for some of the most disturbing episodes in the series, like Tough Love and Speed Demon. In Tough Love, Him turns the entire town against the Powerpuff Girls, and they are forced to beat them up. But Speed Demon is even more disturbing. In this episode, the girls go so fast the end up in the future, where Townville is destroyed, and all of the citizens are turned into these zombie like people, who blame the Powerpuff Girls for what happened. It turns out that Him took over while the girls were gone, and without the Powerpuff Girls to stop them, he was easily able to take it over and turn it into… Well, that. Him is easily one of the most dangerous foes to the Powerpuff Girls, and it’s easy to see why
#13: Gotou from Parasyte: The Maxim
For an anime that was only made a year ago, I got to say, it has a pretty threatening villain. Gotou is known as the most powerful and intelligent Parasites of his kind, and started out by testing out his abilities on twenty one gangsters, and he kills every last one of them without getting a scratch. Not to mention, due to Parasites being able to take over human bodies, he is able to enter the body of a human to be part in an election to become mayor, which would give him a perfect advantage at finding feeding grounds for other parasites. But, what makes Gotou dangerous is that he isn’t one, but several Parasites that control a human body. Due to the multiple parasites in one body, Gotou is given more strength, speed, and intelligence than any other parasite that has been introduced in the show. It’s really quite threatening and kinda disturbing when you think of it. But, what makes Gotou a great villain is his lack of human emotions. Since he is a Parasite, he has no feelings for murdering countless people. Not to mention, since he views Shinichi as a threat to his plans, and after he nearly kills him, he begins to start killing people in a small village, knowing that Shinichi is trying to help people, which will lure him out so he could kill him. Gotou is a deadly, and emotionless parasite, making him one of the most deadliest creatures on this list… Minus the other twelve, of course.
#12: Slade from Teen Titans
I swear, Ron Perlman's voice for this character rivals that of Tony Jay and Tim Curry. Voice acting aside, Slade is a very threatening villain. In the comics, he was known as Deathstroke the Terminator, who was a professional assassin who was able to kill anyone and everyone of his targets. And, let me remind you, they put a character like that into a kids cartoon… That’s messed up. Anyway, Slade is a very threatening villain, who is very manipulative, and always has half of his body hidden in the shadows. He was able to manipulate Robin into betraying his friends by threatening to kill them with the nanomachines he injected into his body. Not only that, but he was also able to have Terra, a new member to the show, turn on the Teen Titans and become Slade’s new apprentice. And then there was THAT episode… The episode where, after he was thought dead, he then began to haunt Robin, nearly driving him crazy, to where his friends thought that he was seeing things, even though Slade was just as threatening. Oh, and did I mention that he was able to come back from the dead and wield a massive double sided flaming axe. Because he did. And it is easily the coolest thing I have ever seen. Slade is a threatening and manipulative bastard, and I love him for those reasons. Also, they really need to give Ron Perlman an award for this performance.
#11: Vicious from Cowboy Bebop (SPOILERS)
Oh man, here it is. The main villain from my favorite anime ever…. And he didn’t even make the top ten…. Crap. Anyway, Vicious is the leader of the Red Dragon Syndicate which he took control of after killing the original leader. Throughout the series, Vicious’s only goal is to hunt down and kill the protagonist, Spike. This is due to him betraying the syndicate after he wanted to quit his life of crime and marry Julia, who Vicious also cared about. Now, I could have put him here because he is cunning, merciless, and a very greedy bastard. While those are good reasons, I put him on the list for his actions in the final episode. What Vicious does is kill Julia right in front of Spike, and just leaves. Vicious keeps Spike from having a happy life, and he believes that this is the best way to punish him. Of course, this is Cowboy Bebop, and we see Spike go after Vicious with nothing on his mind but to kill him. And we get one of the most awesome fights in anime history. There is no music or talking, just two longtime enemies finishing the fight once and for all, and it is just awesome. Vicious is one of the most heartless villains in anime, and that’s what makes him so awesome.
#10: The Major from Hellsing Ultimate (SPOILERS)
Okay, so, what is the best way to make you instantly believe this guy is bad. Okay, first off, he’s a Nazi… If that doesn’t prove he’s evil, then, maybe talking about him more will. During World War II, he was chosen by Hitler to operate an experiment to create a vampire army, but before he could go through with the experiment, the war had already ended. But, fifty years afterward, he was able to escape with what information he had and plans to throw the world into another world war. What makes the Major such an imposing threat, other than the fact that he is a Nazi with the power to create vampires, is that he has little care for human life. So much, infact, that he doesn’t even care about his own life. And then there is his love for war… Oh GOD, does he love it. He loves it enough that you could make a creepy shipfic of it. Actually, I think someone made one already. I’ll have to look into it later. Anyway, he loves war so much, he gives a speech about his lover for it. It really shows how insane he is, yet this is probably one of my favorite scenes from the anime to be honest. And then there is the fact that he was able to survive death during World War II, after nearly dying during the Battle of Berlin. And how did he survive? He became a cyborg. Stupid? Maybe. Do I care? What do you think? The Major is just a great villain. And, this is off topic, but…. He’s really good in the TeamFourStar abridged series as well.
#9: Lotso from Toy Story 3 (SPOILERS)
Now, how can a stuffed bear that smells of strawberries be a better villain than a psychotic cyborg Nazi with a love for war and the ability to create vampires. As awesome as The Major is, he lacks one thing that Lotso has. Backstory. Okay, so, yes, The Major did have a backstory, but NOTHING compared to Lotso’s. The Major just showed he's still being a psychopath who loved war, only he wasn’t a cyborg at the time, but with Lotso’s backstory, it’s a bit more tragic. And for a kids movie no less. Lotso starts out as this friendly man who is there to greet the gang when they arrive at the school. However, as it turns out, Lotso is just an angry tyrant who rules over the toys with an iron fist. This is due to his original owner losing him, as well as two other toys, and they try to find her. However, once they do find her, they find out that she replaced Lotso, which causes him to become angry, which soon leads him to the school where the toys end up. He then keeps all toys from leaving, as he see’s that staying at the school will keep toys from being abandoned. What makes Lotso so great is that he thinks he is doing the right thing, making him believe he is the good guy. But, then again, it’s Toy Story. Of course it was going to have a brilliant villain like this. And that’s exactly what Lotso is.
#8: Scar from The Lion King (SPOILERS)
Oh, now we’re finally getting to the classic Disney villains. The thing is, I could only choose a few because, if I did choose more classic Disney villains, they’d no doubt dominate the list. Now, back on topic. Scar is the uncle of Simba, and he is also working with the hyenas, who are the enemies of the lions. His goals were to kill his brother, Mufasa and nephew so he could become king and rule alongside the hyenas. Now, even though he fails in killing Simba, he does succeed in killing Mufasa, which has become one of the most notorious deaths in a Disney movie. Of course, not only does he kill Mufasa, but he lies to Simba, saying that he killed him so that Simba would run away and not be seen for years, allowing Scar to rise to power. And once he does… Oh god. Once he does, the hyenas have devoured most of the food and their is now little food for the lions to eat, badly disrupting the economic system. Some villains destroy a village, or a town, but Scar destroyed an entire country. Sure Frieza’s destroyed planets and Broly’s destroyed galaxies, but Frieza’s too cliched to me, and BROLY SUCKS! But, yeah, the reason Scar isn’t any higher is because I think I’ve watched this movie more times than I would have liked to. I blame you, science class. But still, Scar is a very threatening and dangerous villain, and is definitely one of Disney’s greatest villains. Is he THE greatest. In my eyes, no. But he’s definitely up there.
#7: Aku from Samurai Jack
Of course I was going to put Aku on this list. I mean, Samurai Jack is my favorite animated show ever. How could Aku not make it on the list? Anyway, Aku was once a fragment that was soon left in a forest that soon began causing problems to a Japanese village. The emperor, who was Jack’s father, went to destroy the fragment with a magical oil (Don’t judge), but once he used it, instead of destroying the fragment, it turned the fragment into a physical form, which was Aku. Aku then made the emperor watch as he destroyed his village. Of course, the gods saw good in the emperor and gave him a sword powerful enough to defeat Aku, and after Aku’s defeat, he was sealed away, vowing to return… and he did. Aku then took over the village, where he captured the emperor, and Jack was forced to leave the village, where he then began to train for years to become the badass he is today. After he returned to the village, he was ready to defeat Aku, before Aku tore open a portal to the future, and flung Jack into it, hoping it would keep him from being defeated. In the future, Aku not only took over Earth, but was able to begin conquering other planets with alien life on it. Not to mention, even though he is a real threatening villain, he is able to be the comic relief of the series, and god, he does a great job at it. I know I was mostly focusing on his backstory, but what more do you need. He is a very threatening, but at the same time, very hilarious villain, and one of the reasons that makes the show what it is.
#6: Dio Brando from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (SPOILERS)
Now, after finishing the first half of the series, it had some good villains. The Pillar Men were good, but they were NOTHING compared to Dio. Dio started out as a young boy who grew up in the worst part of London, filled with crime and violence. He had despised his alcoholic father for killing his mother, but his father had saved the life of the protagonist's father, so he was able to have Dio be adopted into the family and become rich. However, Dio would become rich by his own means. The moment he met Jojo, the protagonist, his only goals were to make Jojo miserable and take the family fortune for himself. This included gaining the love of Jojo’s father, beating Jojo in everything, taking away Jojo’s friends, stealing the first kiss of Jojo’s girlfriend, and even killing Jojo’s pet dog. And even after Jojo realizes that Dio is trying to kill his father and nearly has him arrested, Dio ends up using the Stone Mask, a device that allows the wearer to turn into an immortal vampire, to become… What else, an immortal vampire. What makes Dio so great of a villain is how he just seems to calm about all of his actions. He will stop at nothing to get to his goals, yet he is always so calm about it, keeping that same look on his face the whole time. Not to mention at the end of the of season one, he KILLS THE PROTAGONIST! Yes, a villain actually killed the main character. If that doesn’t scream success, I don’t know what does. Dio is an evil young man who will do whatever it takes to reach his goals, and he is easily one of the best villains in recent anime.
#5: Johan Liebert from Monster
Some of you may be really pissed off that I didn’t put this guy any higher. In fact, you’ll probably be pissed that he isn’t number one. But, the thing is, I have only recently watched Monster. As great as an anime it is, I have only seen a few episodes with this guy in it, so I won’t have much to say about him, But, DEAR GOD! With what little I know about him, I assure you, what he showed me managed to get him to the top five, so that’s got to be worth something. At a young age, John was shot in the head, but was saved by Dr. Tenma, who he is grateful for. After which, he travels across the world, becoming smarter with each place he visits. Of course, he uses this intelligence to talk people into killing themselves. That is what makes Johan so deadly. He doesn’t mind control anyone. He just simply talks them into it, as if it was a normal conversation. When watching Monster, I thought I was prepared for anything. Then this guy came in. I was FAR from prepared, let me tell you. Johan is a very threatening man, and definitely one of the most sadistic kinds of villains.
#4: Judge Claude Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a movie that was made to be a bit more dark. And trust me, this is as dark as Disney has gotten. Or at least, I think it is. Anyway, nowhere is this movie more dark than it’s villain, Frollo. Frollo is a religious judge who sees himself as a powerful government official who views the gypsies as an evil group and wants to kill them for what he believes is witchcraft. In other words, this man wants to commit genocide. Now, that would be bad enough, but it gets worse. Not only is he sinister, but he also has shown signs of sadism, and enjoys the pain and suffering of others. A Disney character who is a sadist. That’s just messed up. Also, there is his lustful need of Esmerelda, who he threatens to execute if she refuses to be with him. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Frollo was also responsible for the death of Quasimodo's mother, and the only reason he let Quasimodo live was because he didn’t want to damn his soul. However, even though he lets Quasimodo live, he still refuses to let him live in happiness, by locking him away in a bell tower. Oh, and did I mention that his song Hellfire, while being my favorite Disney song and being very nostalgic for me, is basically a song about Frollo debating about whether or not he should sin just to try and do…. “things” to Esmerelda… Yeah, this guy is messed up. What’s more messed up is that he believes he is doing God’s work by doing these sort of things, and he does not view himself as an evil person. But no, Frollo is as evil as it gets to a Disney villain, yet that is what makes him so great.
#3: Light Yagami from Death Note (SPOILERS)
Hey, just because Light is the protagonist doesn’t make him a good guy. In fact, he’s quite possibly one of the most evil characters in anime. Light is one of the brightest students in Japan, who feels that the world is filled with crime and that it has become rotten. However, once he finds the Death Note, a notebook that kills whoevers name is written in it, he begins to use it on criminals to create the new world and become the god of it, and goes under the alias Kira. What makes Light such a great villain is how he is so determined to try and reach his goals, and how he will stop at nothing to reach them. Not to mention he is probably the smartest villain on the list by far, being able to outsmart L, who, let me remind you, is the smartest detective in the world. Light was able to find all sixty four hidden cameras in his house, was able to kill all of the U.S. FBI agents that were after him, and even temporarily lose his memory and create a new Kira at the same time, only to get his memory back once the fake Kira was caught, which he planned from the start. And in the end, Light is able to kill L, showing just how successful he is. He was so close to being number one, and I mean SO CLOSE! But, if he didn’t die from a stupid switcheroo, he would have gotten number one. Oh well, at least he still got third place. That’s something, right?
#2: Mr. Freeze from Batman: The Animated Series
I was torn between putting Mr. Freeze and the Joker on this list. However, once I watched Batman: The Animated Series again, I just had to choose Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze is a cold hearted man, who is first seen stealing different items from GothCorp. Batman tries to catch him, but ends up getting frozen, allowing Mr. Freeze to get away and leaving Batman with a cold. But, what put Mr. Freeze on this list, and this high on the list is his backstory. He was once a scientist working at GothCorp, named Victor Fries, who had kept his wife chronologically frozen, as she was infected with a deadly disease with no known cure. As she was frozen, Victor tried to find a cure for her sickness, but he had been using GothCorp money, leaving them in debt and with insufficient funds. Soon, Ferris Boyle, GothCorp CEO, had decided to cancel Victor’s experiments and ordered it to be shut down, which would lead to the death of Freeze’s wife. Soon, a fight broke out between Victor and Ferris, which lead to Victor being kicked into a table with chemicals, altering his form and making it impossible for him to survive in sub-zero temperatures. It’s one thing to have a very diabolical villain, but creating a villain that has a tragic backstory with is something even more brilliant. Also, I am really glad that the episode he was in won an award. It just goes to show, Mr. Freeze is a really cool guy…. Yeah, I apologize for that joke.
#1: Broly from Dragon-
Broly’s not going to be on the list! FOR THE LAST GODDAMN TIME! Sorry about that. Okay, now for the real number one
#1: Lucy from Elfen Lied (SPOILERS)
And you thought Mr. Freeze was a tragic villain… well, he is, but Lucy definitely tops him when it comes to that. Lucy is a quiet, but sadistic girl who cares nothing about the lives of others and would not think twice about tearing someone to pieces. But what puts her at the number one spot is her backstory and motivations. Lucy was born as a Diclonius, or a female who had horns that looked like cat ears with the ability to use invisible arms to harm or kill others. Lucy was abandoned in a field by her father and was soon found and placed in an orphanage. Lucy was friendless at the orphanage, as she was seen as an inhuman creature that didn’t belong with humans. Her only friend was a stray puppy, but she kept him a secret, as she knew that he would be targeted by the bullies if they knew about it. Soon, Lucy was befriended by a young girl, who she promised would keep secrets for Lucy. Of course, this lead to Lucy telling her about the dog. This soon lead to the girl letting out the secret to the bullies, who found the dog, and… Well, for those of you who don’t like animal abuse, I suggest you stop reading. What happens is that the bullies hold Lucy back as they make her watch them beat the dog to death. After which, Lucy becomes so enraged, that she kills the kids that were involved with her powers in a way that is much too violent for me to describe. And that’s only the first half of her tragic past. Once she leaves the orphanage, she meet the protagonist, Kouta, who is a young boy at the time, who actually befriends Lucy, saying that her horns were amazing. As they begin to spend more time together, Lucy begins to trust Kouta and becomes friends with him. She soon begins to fall in love with Kouta, but is worried that he will betray her as well… And that’s what happens. Once she sees Kouta with his cousin, Bitchface Mcgee- I mean, Yuka- Sorry… I just… Really, really, REALLY hate Yuka. Anyway, once she sees Kouta with… her, she goes into a complete rage and kills everyone nearby. However, Kouta was unable to notice is was Lucy and leaves before he is in any danger. On his way back to his home with his sister and father, Lucy walks toward Kouta, calling him a liar. However, Kouta’s sister notices that Lucy was the one who killed those people. This of course angers Kouta for hearing his sister say that and says that he will hate her… And this is the last thing he ever tells his sister, as Lucy ends up killing her right in front of him. This soon leads to Kouta going insane and forgetting how she was ever murdered, and he does not remember what caused his sister’s death until years later. As for Lucy, she was imprisoned in a high-security lab to keep from killing others… And she then escapes by killing every single guard in her way, by brutally tearing them apart. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, this is the first scene of the first episode. She is killing dozens of people right off the bat when this anime starts. Some see it as violent and disgusting, but I like it….. Wow, I am really disturbing, aren’t I. Anyway, after she is nearly killed, she gets a new personality, which is named Nyu, which is a more friendly and nice, but less intelligent version of her, which also lacks telekinetic powers that Lucy has. In the end, however, Lucy has gained full control of her true self, but does not want to harm Kouta at all. In fact, she still has feelings for him and wants to keep him safe, and Kouta even cares for her as well, even though she was the one who killed his sister…. Um….. Better love story than Twilight? But, yeah, I just couldn’t help but give Lucy the number one spot. She has the most tragic backstory out of any villain in an anime. She is heartless, sadistic, and cares nothing for human life, but at the same time, she is caring, helpful, and will do anything she can to help Kouta and his friends. It’s just amazing to see a character like this, which is what makes Lucy my favorite villain in animation.
So, there you have it. Did you enjoy the list? Tell me what you thought of it below. With that, I will see you all next time.
