So, after seeing Mr. Enters the two Admirable Animations on internet animations, I thought that I should make a top ten list of my favorite ones. Note, this is INSPIRED by Mr. Enters videos. This is not a direct rip-off. I can see why people would think that. So, with that said, lets get started
#10: Tarboy by James Lee - This is a simple animated video. But, I admit, the animation is pretty good. It is about a world of robots, which is about a grandfather telling his grandson about the story of a hero named Tarboy, a hero made out of the tar from dozens of robots murdered by a greedy corporation who set out to kill the owners of the company who are called the Fat Cats. The animation is really good, and the story is like something out of a comic book. The music in the background also adds well to the animation, and I really do like the humor in this story. But, its lower because the others on the list are a little better with story telling. But, Tarboy is still an amazing animated video.
#9: Going Green by Thiago Aranha - Now, this one has really good animation. It’s like a Pixars short, which is real good, especially when you compare it to…. Pixars other major films (COUGH Airplanes and Cars COUGH COUGH). It is a simple, non-voiced animation about a traffic light that wants nothing more than to be green, so he keeps his green light on the whole time, which begins to make problems for the other traffic lights and traffic itself. The humor is easily comparable to Pixar and the animation is really well done, especially by someone who doesn’t have millions of dollars in animation software.
#8: Starter Squad by Shippiddge - Now, this is for all the Pokemon fans out there. And it is amazing. It may look like an SFM, but it really isn’t. It basically takes all of the cliches of the Pokemon franchise and makes fun of it. So, it is basically a parody. And a great one at that. The voice acting is pretty well done, and the movement of the characters is amazing. This also became a series, but, the reason it is this low is because the series died out after only 4 episodes. Real shame to. This was the Dragon Ball Z Abridged of gaming parodies.
#7: Oxygen by Nascent Paradigm - Now, when you think of a video that is basically about the Periodic Table, you think “How is this going to be fun”? Well, if you ask me, this is really good. The animation is really well done, the humor is very good, and this is also really good with teaching people about Oxygen and how it works with other parts of the Periodic Table. So, if you want to learn about the Periodic Table in a very amusing way, just watch this. You will indeed get a laugh or two out of it.
#6: Monster Box by CG Bros - You thought Going Green would be easily mistaken for a Pixar short. Just take a look at this. This is also a non-voiced animation, but the animation is beautiful in every way. This one is about a girl who has a group of monsters who she cares for. It is a well animated and beautiful story. One of the best animations on here. Also, I should also point out that if Nickelodeon gets there hands on this, since they are looking up on the internet to get there so-called shows, I know they will ruin this brilliant story. Lets just hope that doesn’t happen.
#5: There’s a Man in the Woods by Wonderful Life - Now, this is where things get REAL good. This is a very suspenseful story told by a school teacher about a boy who tells a lie about a psychotic killer in the woods, which causes an uproar which badly affects the teacher himself. The animation works very well with the tone of the story. Also, the rhymes in this story are very good, like a psychotic Dr. Suess. The ending is also a very great twist. I won’t spoil it, because you REALLY should watch it. Just be careful, its pretty disturbing.
#4: The Backwater Gospel by Bo Mathorne- You thought There’s a Man in the Woods was the most disturbing on this list? No! The Backwater Gospel takes that cake. This story is about a town who is horrified by a man called the Undertaker, who, whenever he comes by, someone dies. Also, there is a priest and a one legged urchin who are always at each others throats. The animation is really good, which is a cross between 2D and 3D, which is very unique for this sort of story. Another thing about this animation is that no one, the priest, the urchin, or the Undertaker, are either the good guys, or the bad guys. The priest, who does want the urchin dead, but wants to save the town from unholiness, the urchin wants to do what he feels best, but also seems to enjoy scaring the townspeople, and the Undertaker seems to be involved with peoples deaths, but it just seems to be his job. While this is a very well done story, I must advise that you should only watch this if you can stand very disturbing imagery, because this animation has LOTS of it.
#3: Elephants Dream by MoviemaniacsDE - Now, this is a very amazingly interesting animation. It is about an elderly man named Progg, and his protege, Emo, who are travelling through “The machine”, which may seem harmless at first, but it soon shows that all is not what it seems. The animation and the story look like something out of a Tim Burton film. Sure, the ending may be a bit confusing at first, but, trust me, when you soon understand the message it is trying to portray, that will be when you understand how amazing this animation is.
#2: Emi by ESMA Movies - Now, believe it or not, this animation was made in French… thankfully, this is another non-voiced animation, so you won’t have to worry too much about that. The animation style is very beautiful, and the music is also some of the best I have ever heard in an internet animated video. Another thing about this is the massive amount of symbolism in this animation. Symbolism is EVERYWHERE. And, once you understand all of the symbolism, you realise that the ending to this whole thing is one of the most saddest things you will ever see. I won’t spoil it because you really should watch it. Just know that you will cry once you do. But, there is still one that topped this. What could it be?
#1: Draw With Me by Mike Lenl - This one made the top of the list the very second I started this countdown. It is beautiful and at the same time sad in many ways. I’m sorry, but if you all need to get the idea of it, I have to spoil half of it. It is about a boy and a girl who are separated by a large wall of glass, and the only way they can talk to each other is by writing on the glass wall. As they do this, their feelings for each other grow more and more, so, in anger, the boy tries to break the glass wall by punching it. Once he does, though, the glass instantly fixes itself and cuts his arm off. Once this happens, he is no longer able to draw. This is one of the saddest things I have seen. Even more than My Little Dashie, but, at the same time, it is one of the most beautiful things I have seen. All of these animations on this list are beautiful in their own way. They give the viewer a special kind of feeling. Humor. Fear. Beauty. Sadness. These animations on this list show that there are still people out there who can make beautiful pieces of art, and that there are people out there who actually use these animations to create something such as a masterpiece. And on the internet of all places. It shows that there can be some beauty in the world, even today. That is what truly made me want to create this list.
So, there you have it. I hope you all enjoy this. I can assure you, I did. These are the best animations of all time, and I do hope to find more. But, hey, that’s only my opinion. What’s Your Take.
