In-Indie - Skullgirls: 2nd Encore

I remember visiting this website once...
It was called In-Indie - Skullgirls: 2nd Encore - Windwakerguy430 - Fanpop
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
...IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRLS… Sorry about that, I just get excited when we talk about this game. So uh, yeah. Skullgirls is a pretty cool game. Lab Zero started out with this little indie title backed on Indiegogo with the help of a dozen internet individuals like the Super Best Friends Play, and Zone, the porn artist… really.
But then we get to the new consoles of PS4 and Xbox One. And with it comes a new version of Skullgirls. I talked about the original Skullgirls game, but now it is time to talk about Skullgirls: 2nd Encore. The new additions are a few new mods, the addition of all the DLC characters like Squigly, Big Band, Eliza, Beowulf, Fukua and Robo Fortune, and the addition of voice actors, one of which you may recognize. Squigly has a little worm companion named Leviathan and is voiced by Liam O’Brien, the voice of Akihiko from Persona 3 and pretty much a 3rd of the population in Fallout: New Vegas. But Leviathan is just Liam O’Brien doing his Grimoire Weiss voice from NieR. Not that I’m complaining. But aside from that, it’s just the same game again with a bit of a heftier price tag. Of course, it’s worth the money for all that added DLC and nice little touches. The story of Skullgirls centers around the Skull Heart, a McGuffin that grants wishes, but at a price. Guarding the Skull Heart is the Skullgirl, Marie, whose only intention is to kill a crime family for what they’ve done. You pick a variety of rather attractive ladies and a slime monster and two guys and from there, play through their story and pick which girl will be your waifu. Mine is Robo Fortune cause she can’t hate me after two seconds.
Every second of this game is candy to the eyes, and I don’t mean that cause of the girls…. I don’t entirely mean that because of the girls. The charm for this game comes from the animations. Every single character was painstakingly drawn with over 500 frames of animation each. All by one man who had this idea locked into his head since high school. Knowing that this guy can draw charming character art in high school and I can barely draw human proportions at the age of 20 is both impressive for him and a little disappointing to me. The combat in this game is a ton of fun as well. It adds its own blend of fun combos and stylish moves while taking inspiration from the arcade fighting games of the past like Street Fighter III and Darkstalkers. Whenever I watch a tournament, first, I fear for my own skills in fighting games, and second, seeing someone perform an insane combo and then seeing someone else block that similar combo with total ease is a sight to behold. And if you can get some friends together, this game is a real spectacle and just an overall fun time. Of course, that’s only if you can play locally. I know the concept of couch co op makes big budget publishers shrivel with disgust, but sometimes, games lag. And for example, Skullgirls. I love Skullgirls, but man, playing online is just real laggy. And from what I experienced with a friend, it also has delay at some points. Maybe it was his device, maybe it was the game, I don’t know. But what I do know is that the lag is real.
Despite that, should you buy Skullgirls- YES! It isn’t gonna be the biggest fighting game in the world, hell, Evo already forgot it ever existed, but it is a game that I love so much. Tekken is my favorite fighting game franchise, but Skullgirls has so much charm around it that I can definitely see it as one of my favorite fighting games out there. If you want one of the most unique fighting games experiences of the last decade, you should try out Skullgirls. And also look forward to the new game Lab Zero has in store. That looks like a ton of fun.

Well, here comes a game even I wasn’t expecting to talk about till I played it. When I was surfing through the indie titles of the Nintendo Switch when I had little to no games for it, one game that caught my attention was The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa. I remember hearing there was a sort of River City Ransom esque game and I thought it was this. The trailers made it look that way. Little did I know that I was completely wrong. And despite that, I couldn’t be happier with what I had played.

So YIIK was a hipster ridden game that people were very annoyed by and against. Well this time, it’s time for us to talk about a game that is hipster ridden that people are quite fond of. To an extent, of course. It does have it’s haters, but this game has far more support than it does hate. And I am referring to the indie adventure title, Night in the Woods. Or as many people like to call it, Life is Strange… But Good.
Night in the Woods takes place in the small town of Possum Springs, which has slowly been losing family businesses in place of larger businesses,...
Okay, so I know that I said before that the next review would be Night in the Woods but I feel as though this game needs to be discussed…. Boy, only the second article and I’ve already lied. In-Indie has a bright future. So I bought four, debatably five, other indie games last week. And one of those indie games was the interesting YIIK: A Postmodern RPG, pronounced Y2K, for some reason. I saw the trailer and the strange visuals already had me hooked. And just when I had purchased it, I read the comments, I saw the dislike bar, and I saw how there was not a soul on this planet who liked...

So remember when I started Corner of Horror and talked about Five Nights at Freddy’s, a horror game that I just cannot stand yet it managed to get a whole lot of publicity and popularity? Yeah, I still don’t like it. But if anything created an even bigger fandom, it had to be the indie game, Undertale. But unlike Five Nights at Freddy’s, I actually like Undertale. In fact, I love Undertale. Let’s talk about why I love Undertale so much.
Undertale takes place in a world filled with humans and monsters. After a war broke out, the monsters were forced underground and were separated...
