I'm usually reluctant to talk about anything on "Ain't It Cool News" because so often it turns out to be bunk. But I just read about this elsewhere: link
So it is confirmed.
Myself, I think that the choice is OVER-casting, if it's anything. Sure, Downey Jr. will do a great job, but he will either not be given enough to do, or the film will focus more on Tony Stark's story than is really desirable. But, hey, at least Jon Favreau didn't cast Dolph Lundgren!
The story is true according to Marvel Universe. Downey Jr. will play Stark/Ironman in the upcoming film. Actor Terrence Howard (Crash) is cast as Stark's best friend and teammate Jim Rhodes/War Machine. It's a done deal. All they (the powers that be) can do now is throughly screw this up. An Iconic image. Personal demons cause self-destruction. A friend who stands with strength to help. Can he return to what he once was? A Hollywood story if ever there was. This is a no-brainer. Favreau, your rep with me is riding on this one.
I hope he's clean and sober for this assignment...
