To avoid fainting, keep repeating \'It\'s only a movie...It\'s only a movie...\'
Have you seen the awesomely action-packed trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials? It\'s a great follow-up to the first movie in this intense series, but you may not know that it hides a pretty cool secret...
The thing is, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is the future of Young Adult Fiction movies.
Forbes explained quite how vital The Scorch Trials is to this essential cinematic genre, noting that other important franchises in this vein are either awaiting a green light or coming to a close:
20th Century Fox’s Percy Jackson is pretty much finished barring a fluke or a miracle, and same goes with the (never say die) Chronicles of Narnia (Fox and Walt Disney). Twilight Saga (Summit/Lionsgate) is finished, The Hunger Games (Lions Gate Entertainment) is taking its victory lap, and Harry Potter has a prequel trilogy courtesy of Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. dropping at the end of next year. So other than Divergent (Lionsgate), there really isn’t any other big [movies of this type] currently in motion.
Sadly I think we’ve seen the last of Beautiful Creatures or Vampire Academy and I’ll believe a Mortal Instruments sequel when I see a release date.
If there\'s no main movies left for (barring spin-offs) Percy Jackson, Narnia, Twilight, Harry Potter, Beautiful Creatures, Vampire Academy or Mortal Instruments, and The Hunger Games is drawing to a close, that places Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials as the most important new Young Adult movie. Food for thought, huh?
It\'s not only the loss of massive competitors in the field: the first
Maze Runner movie grossed an impressive $32 million opening last September, before making a whopping $340 million worldwide on a relatively economical budget of $35 million. Scorching indeed...
