Sorry NO one answered you in time, but sadly since you asked this four years ago in 2011, Andy Griffith has passed away, he died in 2012 at 80 something, I believe it was peaceful for the most part. I sure do miss him and Don Knotts. Ron ( Opie ) Howard is the only one left besides Elnore "Ellie" Walker ( Elnore Donahue) one of Andy's girlfriends he almost married.
