Help protect net neutrality - It is one of the foundations of the internet
US Congress is trying to abolish net neutrality. This will affect you every time you use the internet, even if you aren't in the US. It is universally terrible for all internet users, and it might soon become reality.
Keywords: internet, freedom

Take heart in this, though: there's some strong evidence that online advocacy and outrage by ordinary internet users has already taken a good hold. It has changed the public conversation - it's now no longer acceptable for companies to publicly admit they want to act as gatekeepers to online content. Changing the acceptable public conversation is a solid foundation for all future advocacy, and it shows what consumers can do when we band together.
Also, it's easy for politicians to please powerful companies in the shadows when nobody is watching, but when they start to feel that voters are watching and care, that doesn't always guarantee victory but at least it guarantees a fight. We saw this recently when Congress voted to overturn the FCC's broadband privacy protections. Voters were MAD, and a lot in Congress are running scared over that vote now.
But yeah, this issue seems to (dishearteningly) prove the maxim: the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
People should also vote in the mid-terms against the party doing this. Threatening their political power is sometimes the only thing that makes them listen.
