Penguins of Madagascar Question

What's your opinion of Fanpop fans leaving the PoM spot?

I notice that there has been an issue with Fanpop fans leaving this spot. My feelings about this issue are on this wall post of mine.

"I have to say something in response with Bluepenguin's post below. I agree with everything she says. I realize times in the PoM are tough, with the show rarely airing and social issues here, including drama and other stuff. But we all have something in common. We are PoM. Things have improved here, and we can't stop yet. Who will replace us when we leave? Not anyone who can't watch the show ('cause of Nick).
I'm asking everyone to just stay strong. A good penguin never leaves a friend behind."

How do you feel about this issue? Let's start a discussion (like Penguinangel would want in order to restore this spot). Do you agree with anything I said in my wall post? Disagree? Any new thought?

I think that when a fan decides it's their time to go, then they should go. They have their reasons, whether or not they decide to share them, and we should respect that. I know how sad it is to watch a good friend leave this place, but it happens, and more friends will come in time.

Now since I assume this is partly about me, I'm not leaving. If you read through my original wall post, I specifically said that I AM NOT LEAVING. I tried to, I really did have half a goodbye letter typed up. But I couldn't finish it because I seriously started crying half-way through. I always thought that reading those was hard, but writing one is 10 times worse.

I still remember way back when it seemed like another fan left everyday, many of whom were AMAZING people, and friends. And I remember how the reasons that they left were not because they simply grew out of PoM, or had to move on with life, but because they were sick of what this place had become. Then I remember promising myself that the day I do leave, it won't be on a bad note. I'd leave like Jedi did; not being chased away, but chosing to leave. And after alot of thinking yesturday, I'm still sticking to that. As long as there's people who want me here and the show's still alive to talk about, I'll be around.

I really am sorry for worrying some of you, it's just that when I looked at the wall the other day, a sense of hopelessness overcame me when I saw nothing but crazy fangirling, even after all of these months of thinking "It's gonna get better. Soon, it's gonna be better." And that on top of several other reasons (which I won't get into now because I think I'm going to run out of characters soon) made me think that it would be best if I leave now. Really, I SHOULD leave, it would be smarter for me to (again, reasons I'm not getting into now), but I don't think I CAN leave, even if I wanted to. I still love this place and the people here too much. And even if it's not the same spot I came to 15 months ago, I still do get that warm family feeling when I log on everyday.

Real answer: This is gonna make me regret taking a little break in August because of band. Still, I hate seeing really good fans leave the spot. I'm afraid of the following people leaving:

*You (of course)
*Penguinangel (without her, this place would fall apart)
*SJF_Penguin2 (the world would explode...)
*Bluepenguin (she's too awesome to leave!)
*Icicle1penguin (she's awesome too!)

Those are the main ones. But I would feel bad if someone else left the spot because it makes me feel like I made them leave. Like I did something to make them leave...

Some fans leave because of the fact that they just get bored of the show. But lately, some people have left because of you know... the spot. Its just filled with... chaos... IDK how to put it. And some fans left because of the fact they had better things to do.

I'm beginning to grow bored of PoM myself (not the show, not the show), BUT! I will still watch it because a). I'm not entirely an adult yet and 2). I still have a good interest in the show.

I probably won't leave this spot come the end of the series. I'll stick around with the other PoM oldies that still are fond of the show... that is, if there are any left ;)

....Ah... that's my two pennies. Case closed
Mort: CASE OPEN!
Me: SHUT UP!

Well, I do find it sad that any fans would leave, especially the ones that participate and try to keep it alive. I joined this spot to make friends and have fun with them, but if the ones that aren't so fangirl-ish and crazy leave one-by-one (possibly because of the fangirls-POSSIBLY), then it would grow lonely and weird. The day I leave is if it feels too desolate. I hope that day doesn't come anytime soon. I don't want to lose the friends I got here and leave this spot; it's gotten so close to me...

However, I believe this subject should just be let go. Like I said, seeing these people go is sad, but is there anything we can do about it? Whatever their reason is, they know what they are doing. It is their decision to leave or not. It will be sad, but it's not like they're gone forever. And if we lose fans, I know some fans will come as well. When I first came here, I can remember several people who were here and sane and active fans-and some of those left and I haven't heard from in a long time. I feel like this is ancient history. But, you know, that's just how things are. And we have to accept that. But, hey, we get fans in the green box almost every day. Some are bound to be sane and will become close to us.

A [somewhat] quick summary of my opinion of this: let those considering to leave or not decide their decision without making them feel forced to stay and let them do as they please. Should they leave, we'll miss you and we won't forget you. You were a part of a great fanclub, at least. :)

One inaccurate thing in there. Since PoM is practically never airing, there's no chance for new fans.

While the lack of episodes on air, I don't think it would cause a cease in many new fans. People could come across this site at anytime,. Even with a PoM hiatus, any new Penguins of Madagascar fans here on Fanpop could come at anytime.

So by "new fans," I meant fans for this spot, not PoM. Your right about new fans of PoM lacking because the lack of PoM. Although the Comic Con thing that PoM will appear it might help a bit.

Uh... according to that green bar at the top right corner of my screen, our fan numbers have been slowly increasing day by day.
Some people may have left because of some stuff they didn't like on the wall. But, if people get in your way of loving the Penguins of Madagascar and showing your pride for it so much that you leave the club or what ever, then that's just sad on your part. All you really have to is ignore. Real simple. Or, at least, that's my view on it. :P

People grow out of things, it's as natural as it gets. You can try and make them stay all you want, but the choice is theirs. If they still like it, they can come back. I think if they want to leave, they can. If they want to be a fan again, they want to have another shot with fandom. Basically, it just happens, and you can not do much about it.

^Of course. I'm not asking people to be fans of PoM forever. If they grow out of PoM, no problem. But if they're still a fan of PoM, they can choose whether they stay or go, but I'd miss them if they'd go.

Which is why I stay, to be with the friends I have made here. Not for the show.

It's always sad to see fans parting ways, especially those who have been long-time members or those who have added much to the discussion. However, I defend the right of any fan to leave this club or the fandom in general for whatever reason, for each individual is the only one who can understand the whys and wherefores going into their decision. It is our duty to respect these decisions even if we disagree with or are disappointed by them.

As for me, I know that I'm not going to disappear from the fandom for a very long time. Fanpop, I believe, has become one of the major hubs in the PoM fandom, and despite occasional setbacks and difficulties, is likely to retain this status. I've been in it for the long-haul for quite a time, and I think that as long as there's still fuel in the tank, I'm gonna keep on truckin'.
