According to the Wikipedia website, there have been sixteen film adaptations of Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel, "Jane Eyre". And there have been ten television adaptations of the novel. That is a hell of a lot of adaptations for one novel. A lot. And judging by the numbers, I have no immediate plan to see every movie or television adaptation. But I have seen at least five or six adaptations. And one of them is Franco Zeffirelli's 1996 movie adaptation.

Anyway, I love all things Jane! When I graduated from high school, my dad even managed to take me to the Broadway show that was playing for a while. I’ve read almost all the retellings and sequels I can find (besides rereading the original every so often) so I finally decided to write my own! Even if you don’t want to nominate on Amazon, you can still find a version of my story on fanfiction.net if you’d like something Eyre-related to read.

When I began this article, it occurred to me that I was about to embark upon the review of the sixth adaptation I have seen of Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel. As long as I can remember, both the Hollywood and British film industries have trotted out Charlotte Brontë’s 1847 novel, "Jane Eyre" in order to make a movie or television adaptation of it. Looking back, I realize that I have seen at least six adaptation of the novel in my life time.

There have been many adaptations of Charlotte Brontë’s 1847 novel, "Jane Eyre". And I do not exaggerate. If I must be honest, I really have no idea of the number of adaptations made. Many fans of Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel, "Jane Eyre", are aware that numerous (probably over twenty) television and movie adaptations of it had been made over the past several decades. While perusing the Internet, I was surprised to discover that the opinion of the 1943 adaption seemed to be extremely divided. Fans either regard it as the best adaptation or the worst. There seemed to be no middle ground.

"JANE EYRE" (2011) Review

There seemed to be certain famous British novels that are always adapted for film or television . . . over and over again. One of those novel is Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel, "Jane Eyre". There have been twelve television adaptations and seventeen movie adaptations. That must be a world record for any literary piece. I have seen at least three television adaptations and four movie adaptations. The most recent I have seen is the 2011 motion picture, directed by Cary Fukunaga.

............Crazy Wife In The Attic............

Okay so I only watched the 2006 movie and have been asking if I really did want the crazy wife in the attic to die.
I have been a bit confused on some points since I never read the book as in why she was smiling when she threw herself off the rooftop. Or why her brother was so pissed to see Jane and Rochester being married. Sigh....
I feel somewhat sorry for the crazy wife in the attic though. Her husband was cheating on her and was trying to get married while he was still married to her. Just say I am a sucker for sad endings....

new jayne eyre movie

i have only seen the 1990 version recently. and apparently a version of the movie will be coming out with mia wasikowska as the jayne . i was watching jane austen book club the otherday wishing that emily blunt could play jane.

I am so obsessed with the book that it is literaally my fave book of all time. do you know any other authors that i would like?
Also do you know of any sequels to the novel by other authors or any fanfiction sites dedicated to charlotte bronte?
