The games are better, but the movie is good for what it is.
I would actually say that Shaun of the Dead is a tie with how much I like this movie.

To tell you the truth, this isn't a very fair comparison. This is like comparing ice cream to a swim in a pool on a hot summer day. They're both great things but only somewhat related, so not really fair to compare. One is a comedy based on a stereotypical horror genre (zombies) and the other is gothic horror fantasy based off a video game. It would be more fair to compare this movie to another movie that is also based on a horror survival game... such as Resident Evil.
