Part of it is that I like his character design. And the other part I have is the fascination of both the Trickster archetype and the origin Brer Rabbit Stories. A creation of American Slaves in the 19th century, a reaction to the brutal world of slavery, his stories were lessons slaves told their children (and the Master's children as well) about lessons to survive in their enslavement. (All truly great folklore starts as the human spirit's reaction to their condition). The tales were about a small trickster, a seemingly weak rabbit, who always outsmarts the larger creatures out to destroy him. An incredible example of mythology.
