I'm 100% in favor of it. Having a lesbian Disney princess would be HUGE and groundbreaking and do wonders for LGBT representation and visibility. And it also would make me suddenly give an f about Frozen.
Plus think of all the homophobes it would make seethe! Mwahaha.
If I am being completely honest, I do not want her to be lesbian. I would prefer for her to stay single. I have nothing against the LGBT community, but I do not want her to become a lesbian because I just can't see her that way.
Okay, here's my opinion. Let's not forget that Frozen is a KID'S movie and that means that there is no boy x boy and girl x girl couples because it will ruin innocence. I haven't seen a kid's movie with something like that before. Who had this idea of Elsa being a lesbian anyway? So I'm gonna say it's a bad idea. I know you didn't mention anything about girl x girl or boy x boy but.. lesbian actually means that she has a crush on another girl, nothing like that should be in a movie for little kids. It would put Elsa out of character AND it would ruin the story of Frozen. A lot of parents would not let their kids watch the second movie if Elsa would be a lesbian even though the kid would beg them.
I've never ranted on fanpop before, even when someone's pissed me the hell off, but goddammit, you just crossed a line. So how dare you attempt to say that gay relationships are somehow non-innocent compared to straight ones. Do you have any idea how toxic that is? How disgusting it is for me, a young gay woman, to see someone speak about the love I have for other women as if it's dirty and wrong? That shit is the reason I hated myself for 13 years. Elsa's sexual orientation, whatever it may be, has nothing to do with her character or Frozen in general. Elsa's still Elsa if she's in love with a woman, a man, or no one. And I see that you got a lot out of Frozen, a story who's theme is that traditional, straight romantic love is not the one kind of love. Please, get your head out of your homophobic ass and join the rest of us in the 21st century.
Misscindyspice's comment was spot on. Honestly, even if she had a lesbian romance, do you really think that it would contain sex scenes or anything like that? I doubt it would be treated much different from the usual heterosexual romances in the modern Disney movies (though I can see the writers of Frozen messing up and using overused tropes and cliches, especially since I don't like the romance in the first movie)
^^^ Bless!!! It's not like lesbian relationships are inherently MORE sexual than straight ones! If it's a kids' movie, there will probably just be one or two kisses and nothing more.
I honestly don't see Elsa having a love interest, boy or girl. I don't care if they make a homosexual princess in the future, jut I see Elsq as asexual.
For me, it's fine either way. I mean, being gay myself, I'd love to see representation in a Disney movie... but I'm not that big on Frozen, and I'd rather see our first proper LGBT character debut in an original movie rather than in a sequel: I mean, it looks a bit like they're pushing it.

I agree, Gus. It would be cool to see Elsa as gay because she's such a popular character, but tbh having a lgbt prince/princess in their own movie would make a better statement and would be more interesting in general.
1: Elsa being a lesbian does NOT fit her character at all. To make her a lesbian just for the sake of making her lesbian would ruin her character and the movie.
2: And that is why I say no to this. I feel like they just want to squeeze in as much gay stuff in movies just for the sake of please the LGBTQ community. Besides, the fans started this petition, not the writers. The writers should not have to carer to the LGBTQ community. Whether they have gays in their movies or not is THEIR choice alone. Not ours.
While it would be good to be very progressive in movies like that. really just can't see her as having any romantic interest at all. She just likes to be on her own more.

I think this movie should focus on Elsa and Anna. Not Elsa and whoever. Honestly, that's what I wanted to see in the first movie, but it seemed to ficus more on Anna and Kristoff together, then Elsa elsewhere.
I can't think of a single reason why it'd be a bad idea as such. It's good for representation and it might even help certain Disney fans to be less homophobic. That said, with Elsa specifically, I'm not sure whether I prefer the idea of her having an orientation besides straight or whether it's best to never have her show romantic feelings towards anyone, keeping her orientation un-established.
To be honest, some of the other comments I've seen here against the idea have only convinced me that Disney needs LGBT characters even more.
In b4 some dumb liberal 15 year old virgin calls me an homophobe.
I'd like it but only if Disney did it on their own accord, I don't want them following twitter trends and hashtags, like, seriously, anyone who follows twitter is just dumb. That site's full of stupidity...And knowing if they do it to please an audience it'd be very half-assed and cliched, and i just rather they do it because they want to, out of a desire to do it. People who do things forced ALWAYS come out with a shitty product. And I don't want Elsa's big romance to come out like some shitty after-school Glee special/PSA or the like...
TBH i'd just prefer the new princess to be gay, it leaves a lot more to explore and ground to work on. Maybe Moana could be gay, but I know that would leave people who dislike gay POCs in an uproar (since these folks are so racist and they see being gay as only "white stuff")

Yeah, I'd rather have an original character like Moana to be queer :)))
