Teardrops On My Guitar Excerpts And there he goes so perfectly The kind of flawless I wish I could be Drew talks to me, I laugh cause it's just so funny That I can't even see anyone when he's with me He says he's so in love, he's finally got it right, I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do She'd better hold him tight, give him all her love Look in those beautiful eyes and know she's lucky cause Why I picked it: I chose this song because there are a ton of sweet one-liners in it. I just love the line, “And there he goes so perfectly, the kind of flawless I wish I could be.” It just reminds me of the feeling wanting someone who is way out of your league. Also the line “He’s the song in the car I keep singing, don’t know why I do.” describes perfectly the feeling of why you keep going back to someone even when you know things will never work. Even though it seems as if this song expresses a more simple and dare I say “high schoolish” love I think it describes a relationship and a longing that we can all relate to. 10.What Hurts the Most- Rascall Flatts Excerpts What hurts the most Was being so close And having so much to say And watching you walk away And never knowing What could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was trying to do It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go But I’m doing It It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone Still Harder Getting up, getting dressed, living with this regret But I know if I could do it over I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart That I left unspoken Why I picked it: This song is especially meaningful for people who have been married. I think that seeing friends that you had a couple would be heart breaking after a break-up or a divorce. It would be just another reminder of what you are missing out on. Also most of us have experienced a break up where you feel as if you did something wrong and the guilt makes you so sad you don’t feel like you can get up and go about your day. I think most people can also relate to the feeling of having a million things to say to someone but not knowing where to start. I think this song expresses loss in a very real way. 9. Goodbye My Lover- James Blunt Excerpts You touched my heart you touched my soul. You changed my life and all my goals. And love is blind and that I knew when, My heart was blinded by you. I've kissed your lips and held your hand. Shared your dreams and shared your bed. I know you well, I know your smell. I've been addicted to you. Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. You have been the one. You have been the one for me. I am a dreamer and when I wake, You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take. I'd be the father of your child. I'd spend a lifetime with you. Why I picked it: This song is amazing. It has helped me through probably the hardest break- up of my life (And apparently Michael Scott too. Yes I snuck in an Office reference!). This song is very meaningful for people leaving long-term relationships (unlike Michael :P).I think my favorite line is, “I know you well, I know your smell.” I love that line because it is so true. Smell is one of the strongest senses and to this day if I smell an ex-boyfriends’ colognes I will turn and look. I also love the line, “I am a dreamer and when I wake, You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.” It is so meaningful. It is horrible when you dream you are still with someone and you wake up only to realize that they are gone. I mean wow, this song expresses just about every feeling I have during a break-up. 8.Near You Always- Jewel Excerpts Please don't say I love you. Those words touch me much too deeply. And they make my core tremble. Don't think you realize the effect you have over me. And please don't touch me like that, Makes every other embrace seem pale and shallow. And don't try to understand me. Your hands already know too much anyway. But when in your arms, You have complete power over me So be gentle if you please, 'cause Your hands are in my hair, but My heart is in your teeth Why I picked it: As Jewel sings this song you can feel her passion. The lyrics have mind-blowing connotations. My favorite line has to be “And please don't touch me like that,makes every other embrace seem pale and shallow.” Also when she sings, “Please don't say I love you. Those words touch me much too deeply. And they make my core tremble.” It reminds me of the first time someone you really care about says they love you. What an amazing feeling. 7.Beautiful Soul- Jesse McCartney Excerpts I don't want another pretty face I don't want just anyone to hold I don't want my love to go to waste I want you and your beautiful soul You're the one I wanna chase You're the one I wanna hold I wont let another minute go to waste I want you and your beautiful soul... Why I picked it: What I love about this song is it’s innocence and the value it puts on your personality over how you look. This is not something that you see in many songs today. Most songs talk about how beautiful a girl is, which is sweet, but I think it is a lot sweeter to love someone for what is inside rather than their physical apperance. 6. True- Ryan Cabrera Excerpts You might think I don’t look But deep inside In the corner of my mind I’m attached to you I've waited all my life To cross this line To the only thing that’s true So I will not hide Its time to try Anything to be with you All my life I've waited This is true You don’t know what you do Every time you walk into the room I’m afraid to move Why I picked it: This is another song I love for it’s innocence. I think this song is very appropriate for a honeymoon. I love how it says he’s waited all his life to “cross this line.” I think you can take it many different ways, but all are sweet. It is wonderful because he talks about being paralyzed by just seeing her walk into a room. What a beautiful thought. 5. She Will Be Loved- Maroon 5 Excerpts: I drove for miles and miles And wound up at your door I’ve had you so many times but somehow I want more I don’t mind spending everyday Out on your corner in the pouring rain Look for the girl with the broken smile Ask her if she wants to stay awhile And she will be loved She will be loved I want to make you feel beautiful My heart is full and my door’s always open You can come anytime you want Why I picked it: This song has wonderful imagery. In my mind I can picture a guy standing out on a street corner singing and dancing. I love the line, “I want to make you feel beautiful.” Doesn’t every girl want a guy who spends everyday thinking of new ways to make her feel beautiful. *sigh* You can tell these lyrics were written by someone who had experienced those exact feeling. The phrasing and wording are nothing short of gorgeous. 4.Lover Lay Down- Dave Matthews Band Excerpts: Kiss me wont you kiss me now And sleep I would inside your mouth Knowing its no big surprise That I will wait for you I will wait for no one but you Oh please lover lay down Spend this time with me Together share this smile Why I picked it: This song is like a poem to music. It flows so beautifully. You really have to hear it with the music to do it justice. I love how he says, “I will wait for no one but you.” That says to me that she is his first choice. In this song he expresses such longing. It is absolutely magnificent. 3.If Your Not the One- Daniel Bedingfield Excerpts: If you’re not the one then why does my hand fit yours this way? I never know what the future brings But I know you are here with me now We’ll make it through And I hope you are the one I share my life with If you’re not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife? ‘Cause I miss you, body and soul so strong that it takes my breath away And I breathe you into my heart and pray for the strength to stand today ‘Cause I love you, whether it’s wrong or right And though I can’t be with you tonight You know my heart is by your side Why I picked it: Oh my gosh, just read those words! I think they say it all, but I will put in my two cents anyway. I love the line, “If you’re not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife?” That is something you don’t hear a man say very often. Also “And though I can’t be with you tonight, you know my heart is by your side.” I find that such a wonderful and comforting thought. 2. The Luckiest- Ben Folds Excerpts: What if I'd been born fifty years before you In a house on a street where you lived? Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike Would I know? And in a wide sea of eyes I see one pair that I recognize I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties And one day passed away in his sleep And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days And passed away I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong Why I picked it: I love the little senerios in this song. The one about the old man has such beautiful imagery. It is something that actually happens a lot in real life with older couples. I love that he thinks that he is the luckiest guy in the world to be with his girl. 1. You- Evanescence And just this once, the whole song The words have been drained from this pencil Sweet words that I want to give you And I can't sleep I need to tell you Goodnight When we're together, I feel perfect When I'm pulled away from you, I fall apart All you say is sacred to me Your eyes are so blue I can't look away As we lay in the stillness You whisper to me Amy, marry me Promise you'll stay with me Oh you don't have to ask me You know you're all that I live for You know I'd die just to hold you Stay with you Somehow I'll show you That you are my night sky I've always been right behind you Now I'll always be right beside you So many nights I cried myself to sleep Now that you love me, I love myself I never thought I would say this I never thought there'd be You Why I picked it: There were no part of this song I could justify taking out so I had to post the whole thing. The lyrics are nothing short of perfect. I don’t even know where to begin. If I had to pick my favorite line it would probably be “When we’re together I feel perfect, when I’m torn away from you I fall apart.” To experience that you would have to have an amazing love for someone. A close second would have to be “Now that you love me, I love myself.” I can’t get over that. He loves her so much that he brings out the best in her and now she loves the person she it. Just… WOW!

Wait. I just thought of one song that should be on here. I know it was overplayed, but it's still an amazing song. Staying with the Evanescence theme, I think that "My Immortal" should be on this list. Maybe #12?
