Broody_4_Cheery and the rest of my loyal Brucasers: Here’s to REAL LOVE!
This is my interpretation/analysis of Brooke and Lucas’s relationship. Of course I am pro-Brucas…but I really tried to put everything into perspective without bias. It’s just my personal opinion, but I hope you enjoy it! "Brucas share the same heart but differ in their minds, where as leyton share the same mind and differ in their hearts." I took this quote from Broody_4_Cheery, as the premise for my argument on Brucas. While the romantic in me loves to blurt out “people who are meant to be always find their way in the end,” I have grown (especially after s5) to take a more realistic view on the relationship. IMO that way in the end if it doesn’t go my way (and Leyton ends up together) I can justify it as TV FICTION! …because what I am about to write about is REAL LOVE… What Lucas and Brooke share is something magical and REAL! It was undeniable to the viewer in S2&3, and IMO still is. It is not a fiction novel epic type love, nor friends w/ benefits, hook up and forget about it, or just pure physical attraction; its not anymore “high-school” than Leyton, and it is definitely not platonic…never was…and never will be. Brucas is, what people in the real world equate to as “partners”, in other words they complete each other. Now that is what I call love…a lasting love…a marriage-can-last kind of love. Without getting too deep in Leyton/Lincas…my point is this. Peoples minds are what should be challenged in relationships not your hearts. And even though both Brooke and Lucas’s hearts have had their share of painful moments, what’s more is that they seem to be able to heal those wounds together; for each other…like no other. I don’t recall who said this before but its priceless: Brucas’s differences are what make them stronger, Leyton’s differences are what draw them apart. Bottom line: When I look at my parents (happily together almost 30 yrs), I get it…they look at each other in such an endearing way that you can literally feel that they complete each other. They need each other…for when one is weak the other is strong; picking up the pieces…when one is down the other is ready to help; to step in, step with, or just plain step aside. They are selfless with one another…and that look and that feeling of completeness I see in my parents is the very same one we see in Brucas. With that said, all relationships that last will go through their share of good and bad times…but to last through the bad times is the true testament of a solid relationship. B & L despite everything put in their way (mostly Peyton) have been able to do so, and been able to do so more gracefully than any other couple on the show. They have shown this beautifully towards the end of each season, (S1:Lucas goodbye/apology letter; S2 Lucas revealing his true feelings before she leaves for CA; S3: They embrace for a dance even as their relationship was hanging on by a thread; S4: Lucas’ Brookes going to change the world speech; S5: Brooke admits to and Lucas agrees that they wouldn’t have made it to where they are today w/o each other). That last realization is paramount, and ultimately, throughout each and every season, one variable, has remained the same: their heart…and I say one because, as Mouth proclaimed “their hearts are the same,” and therefore one. That heart of theirs has been through a lot…together. Mark may have intended for Leyton to be soul mates…but Brooke and Lucas made their own destiny. They evolved separately as individuals, each taking their respective paths in search of their dreams, but ended up back in each others arms when it mattered most. Brooke was the one who was standing by him when “all his dreams came true” and his book was signed, and Lucas was the one by her side when she was granted her greatest wishes in Angie. Their love is self-sacrificing, not self-loathing. Both stood at times as an outsider to the others romantic endeavourers, taking turns… wanting only the greatest happiness for one another despite their own…waiting…for the right time...for the last time…for their time. Because “when you look past the pain and garbage of it all, of life…what’s better, what is worth it… is LOVE. With Brooke Penelope Davis & Lucas Eugene Scott their love is effortlessly true…the instant their eyes meet…when a “secret smile” eclipses reality…as they embrace to never let go…when “I love you” is met only with “I love you, too.” It is a love story…an epic love story at that…it’s just not fiction…it’s REAL LOVE ALWAYS! * “Secret Smile” is a song by Semisonic, it was used for a Brucas video by McEwenGrl(sp?) It was inspiration. |
