When a celebrity poses without makeup, it automatically becomes a huge deal. Sometimes she’s celebrated for her natural looks or bravery (yes, it’s apparently brave to not put on makeup) and sometimes she’s ridiculed for looking different than people feel she should. But Zendaya has the best advice: just do you.

“Not trying to have a preach moment, but it should not be a phenomenon if a girl decides to, or not to, wear makeup,” she explained on Instagram this week. “If you want to beat that face down, then beat it down. If you want to go natural, then go natural. Do you, boo boo. Be happy.”

Be natural, wear all the makeup you want, wear your hair any way you want — just be yourself. If it’s good enough for Zendaya, it’s good enough for us.
