Suddenly the black jet filled with costumed people was swarming with action as they tried to figure out what to do about the enemy about to attack the jet to get to (gulp) me.
"Why don't we just send the girl out as bait? We could always hook her with a tracker and come for her!" the scruffy short man said, folding his arms across his chest in frustration.
The man with glasses that looked like a red unibrow turned toward him, "You know that's not the way we work. If you want to make suggestions like that, you can go join Magneto. He would accept those types of scemes."
The man in the wheelchair rolled over toward me, "Child, what is your name?"
"Athena."
"Greek goddess of wisdom and divine intelligence. Surely, Athena, you can see the situation we are in. If you could help us, would you?"
I answered with no hesitation, "Of course!"
He smiled as if I had said the million dollar answer, "I thought you would. Athena, we will do everything in our power at this moment to protect you, but you have to be willing to cooperate if we end up asking you to do something that seems insane."
"I'll do anything I need to. That's what was beat into me." Literally, I told myself.
That's a shame, a voice said in my head. A complete shame to have such things happen to such a young mind and body.
I yelped. He laughed, "Don't worry. I was just speaking in your mind. It's a little awkward the first few times, but then you begin to get used to it."
"Thirty seconds until everything's unleashed upon us Professor. Please tell me you have some sort of a plan?!" A young girl with a jet black short cut and large pink sunglasses said coming over to him in hysterics.
"Relax Jubilee. Everything will be all right. Storm. Give us some cover," he ordered.
A tall and beautiful African woman rose up out of one of the piloting seats. Her white hair flowed around her like a pure hearted aura. She picked her hands up over her head and her eyes glowed white. As she did, fog and wind made our cover. We were all tossed around in the jet, but at least some of us were sitting. Those that weren't were thrown around inside of the jet.
Then it all just stopped as quickly as it had started. "Couldn't you have made that a little gentler on the bodies, darlin'?" Scruffy man complained again.
"I would have figured that a man with a metal skeleton would be glad to be out of the clutches of the master of magnetism," the pretty African lady said.
The lady with the white streak in her hair spoke next, "Hey y'all. We just got a message from...Magneto. It's for the new gal. He says 'Enjoy your freedom while it lasts, child. This was just a piece of what is yet to come if you relate yourselfs with the X-men. Homo superior will reign in their rightful spot once and for all, and you are the key. Keys are meant to unlock doors. I will steal you, and use you to unlock that door. Whether or not it is willing is up to you. Enjoy your freedom while it lasts, because it never lasts forever."
