X-Men Question

Do you think these movies overpromote?

I'm starting to think that these movies overpromote FAAAAR too much. One of the great things about movies is being surprised, usually in a pleasant way, but with comic movies as of late, particularly X-men: DOFP, reveal way too much about the movie with behind the scenes photos and various promotional material. When you can see what all the characters will look like, what some of the props (*cough* Sentinels *cough*) will look like, it takes that away. It's almost like they know that the fan's hopes will be hugely disappointed so they're just revealing everything off the bat so there's nothing to make it worse.

Personally, even if it's bad, I'd rather wait until I see the movie to know everything. Sure, some stuff is fun, but when EVERYTHING seems to be made into a 'secret release' it's a bit annoying. Anyone agree?

Yes, especially since a lot of films recently have been keeping tight lips on most of the specifics of the films, leading to much speculation and theorizing which leads to an increased interest, especially when instant word of mouth begins to get out, like what happened with Frozen. Also, it begins to take away the fun anticipation of seeing films on the premiere date.
