Does anyone know how Rogue saved Mariko Yashida's life?

I know that that was how she earned the X-men's trust, especially Wolverine's, and Rogue saved her life when the others couldn't, but does anyone know any details. If you do, please share. Thanks!

Oh, and I've already read comicvine.com and marvel.wikia, so anything they say about it, I know, and they don't say much.
