If there's one good lesson that comes from having been in the trenches, it's that your perspective towards others in the same situation later in life is much more sympathetic.

Even when I'm totally pissed at a company and its tech support, I have to remember that poor sod on the other end of the telephone and that, frankly, shoddy equpment or billing or whatever isn't his/her fault.
