I will, if I like the game. But I do always start at the medium difficulty.

Depending on the game. I like to think of myself as an old school gamer - the kind of guy who stays up all night just so that he can beat Tetris and the kind of guy who goes on ebay and buys a Super Nintendo for $400 just so he can play Super Mario World.

depends what game it's on. A lot of the newer games i have to have on easy or normal but stuff like Dance Factory i put on hard since it's not very difficult.

This isn't really a fair question. I'm a HUGE fan or getting all the bang for my buck that I can, so I play every difficulty of a game I own or like.

It depends on the game. I've worked myself up to very hard on Super Smash Brothers. I am insanely proud about that.

It really does depend on the game... Sometimes very easy, sometimes very hard. On average, usually on normal.

Depends on the game. Zone of the Enders is pretty hard, so I usually start on easy, but when you figured out the gameplay, etc...

Alot of games are just way too difficult if you play them in Hard. Take Alien Hominid for example.

TeamGalacticFan picked Depends on the game.:
Well a few settings for some games I play

Rachet:Gladiator:
Very Hard(I can't remember what they call it in the game itself seeing its been years since I last played it)

Gun:
Normal
Come on in hard mode 2 hits and your dead!

Naruto Ultimate Ninja:
Hard
So easy but the odd thing is in Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 I cannot even complete it in easy.

Sonic Heroes:
I mainly play as Team Dark so I dunno because I cannot get all A's for Super Hard mode but if I can do everything except get the chaos emerald at Bingo Highway but apart from that GREAT!

Well thats all I gotta say as I am stupid enough to forget the difficulty of some(meaning, alot of) games.

Initial playthrough is usually on normal for me, unless it's really too easy. Then, on the following playthroughs I'll switch up the difficulty to have more challenge and keep up the replay value.

I Always try normal level first and if I don't do well I'd revert to "easy" and when I get the hang of the game then I'll turn it to hard.

On average, I'd say normal. But I'm a bit different (not to mention a bit extreme!) when it comes to Amiga games. When I played them as a kid, I would normally choose easy, but when I revived all my old Amiga games once I was in college and replayed them, I generally went for the hardest difficulty. I still have some Amiga games I have never played on the normal setting, only the easiest and hardest ones.

sonic_rareware8 picked Normal:
I usually and always play games on normal difficulty to make them slightly challenging, which I always like.
Speaking of challenge, as much as I enjoy Wario Land II & 3, I really don't like how both of them have no health meter system with or without a remaining lives system. Why not? Because it makes both of them less challenging, even the third one is slightly less challenging. It would've been cool if the second and third Wario Land games have a health meter system where it decreases by 1 if struck by an enemy or any hazards, and should your health meter system drop to 0, you either lose a life or (right after after your health meter system drops to 0 or you lose your last life) get a game over where you're asked whether you want to continue or save the game and quit. A health meter system with or without a remaining lives system and WITH a game over (instantly after your health meter system drops to 0 or you lose your last life) are what Wario Land II & 3 should've had. Other than that, they still deserve the critical acclaim they have received.
