Video Games Question

Can I play my PlayStation & PlayStation 2 games on a PS3?

I remember something about backwards compatability being removed, but is it still present in some consoles?

The answer is both "yes" and "no". The PS3s with backwards compatibility are the 60gb, 20gb, and the first 80gb models (the ones with 4 USB slots). These PS3s can play both PSOne and PS2 games with the use of the "Emotion Engine" processor from the PS2. Now, the only PS3s that AREN'T compatible with PS2 games are the new 80gb, 40gb, and the 160gb PS3s. They both can play PSOne games, but not PS2 (the Emotion Engine was removed due to high expenses of shipment).

Depending on wether its 40gb (no unless you buy them from the PS store) or higher (90% backwards compatibility)

Earlier models do have backwards compatibility, but newer models do not. I don't know exactly which models feature it, but only a few.
