Chapter 5
Scipio's POV
I quickly found the first aid kit stashed in one of the drawers of the bedroom.I was curious why they had set me up to this task.I was just a rookie after all, they could of sent Leo or Scarlet...or even Tony to look after the girl and her sister.
I sat there,on the bed pondering over how simple my life used to be,each strand used to fit in perfectly with one another, now they were all a tangled mess, like a badly knitted sweater.Scarlet said that this girl was the one,and I would become her companion in the events ahead. This was going to be dangerous. With a sigh,I stood back up,and left the room to find the girl.
Cleo's POV
He came back all too soon,to find me a mess on the floor and with Alex asleep again on the floor next to me.His calm face quickly changed to worry?sympathy? Then he saw the picture frame shattered on the floor and he looked like he understood. He crouched down to me,and he held me without speaking for awhile, his dark hair in his face and his eyes full of emotion.
“What is your name miss?”
“Cleo,”I told him “Cleo Russel.”
“And your sister?”he asked
“She is not my sister, but her name is Alex Frey”He looked at her worried.
“We should go first thing tomorrow and get her to Tony”
“Who is Tony?” I asked.
“Tony is a man who has a medical degree, for Alex that's the best thing right now”He said.
“Are the vampires gone”I felt like a total idiot for saying that.
“Yeah,we should get a move on,before she loses too much blood”With that,we pulled out a roll of bandage out of the First Aid and started binding Alex's arm.
We ate some two minute noodles that where in the cupboard and we dashed out the door and back to the deserted car.I don't know why I was so trustworthy of this boy who I have only known for about three hours. It felt like I SHOULD be very cautious about this boy,but it was like I couldn't help BUT trust him.
We talked for awhile, our quick pace becoming into a stroll.HE told me about his past. How his parents came for Volterra in Italy and how they died in a car crash,he was adopted by some American couple when he was ten years old.He then lived in Freeport.I found that funny because I was born not far from there in Quintana. He told about how he and his adoptive parents used to go to to Jasper every summer to live with family they told him how he was now his parents,he got angry and ran away when he was fifteen to Phoenix,Arizona.
I then told him my story about my parents and how they died, then of how I lived with my Grandma and how she recently past on.He asked what I would've done if he didn't show up.I told him my runaway plan to Miami and he laughed. And for the first time,I realized that was the first time I have laughed since my parents died.
