This isn't exactly a factual question so i didn't put it in the answers section. anyway...

Does anyone think this is when Mike tries to copy edward's hair? it looks a lot different but i didn't know if that was what they were going for.

Yeah he does look a bit odd, but I think you might be right, since at the front of his hair you can see it going a tad up - which is similar to Edward's hairdo with all his hair strands going smoothly up. I dont think I am making any sense, but if you get me, then yeah!
But seriously I thought that it would be a lot more similar to Edward's hairdo. But I do see the difference from it, from last time.
