The unity of the fanbase. The fans might be on opposite teams, and might be a little bit crazy (or a lot, depends on how long they've been a fan and if they've read the book), but in the end, we all love the same thing. I just think it's kind of amazing how one thing can bring so many different people of all ages, races, locations, beliefs, etc. together in one place because they all love the same thing. If you're a real fan of this series, you've got a friend, and it's just really amazing that these books were capable of that.
Then there is the story. Something so impossible that is set in reality. Bella is so common, it makes anyone who reads feel like it could happen to them. It just pulls you in for reasons that even I don't fully understand. It captures your interest and makes you want to know what happens next. It makes you care about the characters and feel like you know them.
For me, it gave me something interesting and something to daydream about at a time when I didn't have any friends. It gave me a new way to bond with people.
And it's just a really good read. :)
