It's not a better ending than the original. Sure, it's happier. But the tragic ending is what made Titanic such a big thing. It really pulled at your emotions, as no one really thought Jack would die.

But of course, this option is loads better than the other you put. Rose doesn't belong with Cal, she would never be happy.
