Does anyone know what the bloody fruits mean on the vampire diaries season 3 promo pics??

Damon’s apple: Apple is of course Temptation and is the “forbidden fruit”.
Elena’s pomegranate: Pomegranate for (Persephone’s myth) Eternal Life (doppelganger) and also “Mankind’s Sinful choices”.
Stefan’s orange: Orange’s are in renaissance art and symbolize Free Will.
Klause’s pear: Pear for immortality…but it also symbolized marital faithfulness. (Which is fitting as he was born from his mother’s affair with a werewolf.)
