The physical strength of the Original family is significantly greater than that of your average vampire or werewolf, as seen between Damon and Elijah respectively. Damon stated that the only thing he has on his side when facing Elijah, was surprise. Klaus can't be considered an original vampire because he was born with werewolf genes.He's simply part of the Original family.
