It's a ti between Lestat and Armand, but I'm only a fifth of the way through The Vampire Armand, so I can't make my mind up.

While Lestat is cocky, adventurous and much more, Armand is young, impulsive, confused. Anne Rice, through any character, is amazing. I shall return to this pick, when I have finished The Vampire Armand.

But saying that, David is my favourite character and according to the Internet, he narrates Merrick. So, I'm looking forward to that now.

I must say when ever I've thought, oh that doesn't sound so good, or I don't think that's my thing, Anne Rice has always surprised me with her exalance!

Well if your gonna look on the book in such a superficial level then no your not gonna enjoy it, and Marius doesn't make Armand do anything, and if he did it would be pointless, Marius is dead, he can't even get it up.

The way Anne describes it doesn't make it sound gross. Its all a part of "blood play" as Armand calls it. truth is they love each other, it isn't really about the "play" its about the love.

Marius tried to push Armand away, make him live his own life, but Armand loves Marius so much, he's dependant on him.

It's am amazing story, and if you remember that its not about sex, then you will enjoy it. I suggest you read Bendaimmortal's article about Love and Sexuality.

And should this have happened, should this have been part of Anne's story, do you not think that it would make the story more interesting? Such a thing emotionally scars people, it could have explained how Armand has a warped view on the world. It would have put a strange twist on the relationship, and made Marius a lot less perfect.

I don't believe you should disregard a book because an immoral act takes place in the story.

Myf I completely agree with you. I had a tie between Armand and Lestat, but when I thought about it...even though The Vampire Armand is my favorite book..I don't think I would enjoy his narrative for more than one, and Lestat has done 4 and I never got tired of him.

I personally couldn't get through Merrick. I skipped the middle, but loved the end!! Hope the middle more than I did.
