The Sims 2 Backing Up Disc?

I'm assuming the reason I can't burn a backup copy of the Sims 2 is copyright protection. Is there a way around that? My dogs like to trash all of my CD's and I don't wanna shell out money for yet another copy. LOL.

Could you not just copy all the files off the CD onto your computer, and then burn those onto a blank CD?

Rather than that you should get one of those zippy cases that hold CD's and DVD's unless your dogs can undo zips LOL
