The Hunger Games Question
I need 10 vocabulary words from "The Hunger Games" and 10 from "Catching Fire" to build a lesson plan for my son. I don't have time to read the books myself. Thanks!

As a HS English teacher who has taught the novel (the first one, I mean) there are more valuable activities than using it as a source of vocabulary. (I know I am making an ENORMOUS assumption that you plan to use the words out of their original context! I apologize if this is not the case, but my suggestions are the same in either case.)
Three activities will follow this message. (Brief description in THIS comment; specific learning tasks will follow.)
1=using language to connect the setting to history, mythology...and perhaps some psychology too!
2=focus on characters' names and speculate as to how these names 'evolved' from names we use today. Are character names important in the the "big, big, big" ideas the book explores? (Sorry, couldn't resist quoting Effie Trinket!)
3=Focuses on the differences in functional language (informal communication amongst peers) to compare the cultural differences between the Capitol and the 12 districts (the 'slaves' in some ways, aren't they?).
