The Hunger Games Question

Which death was worse: Rue or Finnick? Why do you think so?

I personally thought Rue's was really harsh, because she was so youngand had a family back home who really needed her. But, Finnick's was so sad because he had Annie back home, who needed him to stay sane. I mean, she was even having their baby!

I say Finnick.
And I say this because although Rue was young, she died sort of peacefully. She had Katniss sing to her and cover her with flowers, and it was somewhat peaceful...
Well, it was definitely more peaceful than Finnick's death.
He just got married to Annie, they were gonna have a baby, they had just reunited, and-- BOOM, Finnick dies on a mission to the Capitol.
A mission, where, this 'Star Squad' wasn't really supposed to be in actual battle-- they were just there to shoot propos.
And, he dies by the lizard-mutt things. They were going after Katniss, and he protected her, like the rest of them did.
And, he died by the lizard-mutt taking the final strike by his neck...
Definitely violent.
Also, Finnick's death was WAY TOO FAST. I hadn't even realized he died, and then I re-read that paragraph and realized it.
Rue's death was somewhat long and thoughtful-- there was a sort of avengence Katniss wanted after that.
However, Katniss didn't have time to think about Finnick's death, since they were trying to escape the lizard-mutts.

So, overall, I think Finnick's death was worse...

R.I.P Finnick and Rue-- two of my favorite characters.

Sometimes I hate Suzanne Collins :\

SPOILER ALERT: if you haven't read all three books, do not read further, you have been warned.

Worse for the person who died or worse for the viewer. Rue's death was far more tragic in the sense that she was rather an innocent, never having killed anyone, and being so young that her life had only just begun. That begin said, she had Katniss there to be with her and die in what little piece one can have when dying.
Finnick on the other hand died a violent and probably very painful death which is tragic enough for a newlywed, but even more so when we find out Annie was pregnant. That being said, I think there is no other way Finnick would have rather gone out than in the heat of battle.

Rue, because she was just so young and I haven't really read Catching Fire yet.

This is suppose to be a pick.

No it isn't, acctually. It could be either one. And it's your fault if you haven't read Catching Fire yet. I'm not required to put a spoiler alert

There is no fault whether I have read Catching Fire or not. I don't care if you have put a spoiler alert or not.

I have to say Rue. I cried. A lot. But, when Finnick died, although he was one of my favorites, was quick and no one had time to mourn him. With rue, there was like a whole chapter about her death, and how katniss coped with it all. I guess I'm saying rue because it was a bigger event and the reader had more time to let the death sink in before moving on to another topic, whereas finnick's death was followed by intense action, which kind of made me forget he was gone.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Um.....I think both were bad...but I personally think Finnick's death was worse. He had Annie back home who was having a baby. I KNOW Rue's was terrible and her family misses her terribly but Finnick had to come back for LOTS of reasons...Plus...I AM IN LOVE WITH FINNICK!!! WHY DID HE HAVE TO GO? HE IS BETTER THAN GALE & PEETA COMBINED! When someone tells me "Team Gale" or "Team Peeta" I yell back, "TEAM FINNICK!!"

Finnick's death was sadder for me, because not only he's my favorite character, his death was also unnecessary. Rue had to die because Katniss had to live. Finnick died and left a pregnant, mad girl back home, alone. And when Rue died, Katniss sang her to death, covered her body with flowers... Finnick got bitten by lizards and was barely mentioned again. His death was, for me, more devastating than Rue's death, despite how sad I thought Rue's death was.
