Sounds kind of creepy, but since I've had so many things happen to me, it doesn't seem like all that much to me. I had my power go out a few seconds after I unlocked Tails Doll in Sonic R before. It was creepy, but that's about it. Seems like the same thing for you, he's trying to scare you.
