I was pretty sure before that John didn't last 100 years in hell without breaking- the Crossroads Demon was already trying to replace him with Dean after he'd only been downstairs for a few decades. And now I'm certain that he wasn't righteous enough. What he did was pretty damn extreme- he hunted down every person he thought knew about Sam and killed them- torturing them for info first.

Sorry, Dean-girl! On the other pick I specified what "Rising Son" was- guess I should have done that on this one too- it's a graphic novel that depicts John's early years as a hunter. It's not in the show itself.

I was impressed with it- which surprised me because I hated the other SPN graphic novel "Origins" which was also about John's early years. I recommend skipping "Origins" and going directly to "Rising Son"- there's nothing in it that's relevant to the second novel.

No, I think he didn't break in hell, or he would not have needed to be replaced by Dean. But "Rising Son" is awesome :)

But they were trying to replace John after he'd only been in hell for a few decades. Remember Crossroad Blues? John hadn't been in hell that long when the crossroads demon offered Dean a deal. Why try to replace him so soon unless he'd already broken and they found out he wasn't righteous enough to break the seal?

john was in hell for 100 years tortured....so that he'd break the first seal, but he didn't give in and then he escaped in the end of ssn 2 which is why he was happy...coz the boys saved him from that...also,i'm mad we haven't gotten to know much about john yet...john in ssn 5 please, eric kripke!
