It can't be Solo or Skywalker because then she would have recognised her surname in Han or in Luke.

*POTENTIAL SPOILER FOR "FORCE AWAKENS"*

I'm unsure. The first half of the movie works overtime to make you think Rey is the daughter of Hans and Leia. In the second half, it tries to make you think she's the Luke's daughter. Anyone else find this?

@Portia0623 But then again, she was abandoned when she was five years old. How does she even know her name is Rey? She might have been abandoned before learning her last name.

@ThePrincessTale: I agree. For the first half, I was thinking, "Oh, she's exactly like Han. She's totally his daughter." And then after she has the vision, I thought, "Wait a minute, maybe she's Luke's". I'm kind of learning toward her being Luke's daughter. It would make sense that maybe he married another Jedi, someone else who was strong with the Force since she was obviously stronger than Ren. It would make sense since Luke was stronger than Leia and maybe if she had two force-strong parents, she would hence be extremely strong with the Force. But then again, prior to the Empire, the Jedi weren't allowed to have those kinds of relationships, so did Luke uphold that? Oh, we'll be debating this until the next movie, won't we?

I think that she is the younger sibling of Kylo Ren and was assumed to have been massacred with the other Jedi in the Jedi temple and he didn't have the heart to kill her so dropped her off on a random planet. Its a long shot though.

Han and Leia only speak of their son and only their son. Rey was abondoned most likely for her safety and probably had part of her memory whiped or forgot some things due to severe trauma. Luke is her father, the Skywalker lightsaber called to her, Maz said its calling for you - take it. And her dream she saw an island with water which - is exactly where Luke was....Plus that glace they gave one another was brimming on tears. She even at one point whispers Luke, but its been so long she doesnt know he is her father. Leia gives her a hug that looks more like extended family than maternal. Leia knows that is her niece.

People think she's Luke Skywalker's daughter.

It would be just too obvious.
