Not really, it might have been better if Spirit was a disney movie because dreamworks is so obsessed with Shrek and there might have been a sequel by now if it was.

What annoys me is when people just judge Dreamworks on their 3D movies and forget that Dreamworks also made movies like Spirit, El Dorado etc.. basically movies that are actually on par and as good as Disney.

God, I hate it when people do that. Disney didn't have the adult-sized stones to try what Dreamworks Animation did and that was making a movie where the animals don't talk. Yeah, sure, Disney was gonna do it with "Dinosaurs"... but, did they? No. They backed out, played it safe, and gave the dinosaurs voices at the last minute. Dreamworks took a step closer to the edge of the cliff, facing complete failure, and made a movie where the animals don't talk. Guess what? "Spirit" was WAY more successful than "Dinosaur". So, yeah, I hate it when people say "Spirit" is a Disney movie.

Dreamworks is so underrated its ridiculous BUT to the comment above me, Dinosaur was way more successful than Spirit. With or without the voices, it'd still would have made more than Spirit. Dinosaur is most likely in Disney's top 20 movies. Spirit was a moderate box office while Dinosaur was a box office success. Was in first place in the first weekend, made more than Spirit both in U.S. and worldwide.

Spirit was great but it's not Disney's fault that people mistaken it for a Disney movie and don't put down Dinosaur just to make Spirit look good. Dreamworks focused too much on 3D movies so it really is there fault. Sadly, they had almost no choice since there even greater movies (Spirit, El dorado) were moderate and failures. :( El Dorado deserved a lot more than what it got.

i dont think disneys made good movies since walt disney died i mean there is no way they could have come up with as good a movie as SPIRIT.

It doesn t surprise me, because it's the most complex animation ever made, and because it's so good, it raises up to the Disney standards (and in my opinion, it tops them).

^^ spiritlovur123 Honestly, I think Spirit is better off with DreamWorks by far cause while I’m all about Disney in matter fact so much that I know the downsides to them. They likely are all about making whimsical throughout the past century. One could only imagine what Spirit would’ve turned out if Disney made the movie. It likely would not have been the same cause they barely have guts at times. Even Disney films like Bambi did not have to have to much of its whimsical approach that even makes Bambi a ‘memetic loser’ with making him quiet and doing nothing more at times than cutesy “BIRD” and ice skating or the fact that we mostly get the young version of Bambi all while the book it was based had particularly different pontential in mind.
