I'll bet you five-thousand Hearts (which, apparently can be used both for creating heart-shaped moons and buying swords that shoot jewels ((What recession?)) ) that this will just be a place where I rant to myself about different types of governments and their pro's and con's.

Gov't Type- Republic
Used by- Rome, America
Pro's- Freedom of the people to do most anything, providing a much higher bonus to happiness, and a diversified economic structure, providing a wider range of income.
Con's- Corruption can move in easily and quickly, and can spawn an Empire or Dictatorship if not corrected immediatley.
Structure- Elected representatives of the people to make and decide laws. Normally includes a overruling member or council (I.E. President or Pro Councillors).

Gov't Type- Democracy
Used by- Ancient Greece
Pro's- Freedom of the people and ability of the people to participate in law-making directly, and a diversified economic structure to boost happiness.
Con's- May be extremely weak in times of war due to a split decision on the parts of the people. Easily susceptible to degredation from the outside if there is not an appropriate measure for immigration, and a corrupted group will, in fact, destroy the bunch.
Structure- Elected representatives to make the laws and the people to decide them directly. Representative of the masses' opinions (I.E. Prime Minister) may be present, but is related to the Antifederation or Confederacy in that the presiding member has few actual powers.

Gov't Type- Federation
Used by- Current Russia, Early America
Pro's- Feeling or actuality of freedom of the people with minimal chance of corruption in the first century of existence (results may vary with the founder's ideals)
Con's- Corruption will decidedly come in the latter years. Best used as a starter for a Republic or Democracy.
Structure- Comparable to the Republic, in that it has elected representatives, but the Federal council and presiding member will have more powers than the local councils and leaders.

Gov't Type- Antifederation/Confederacy
Used by- Confederate States of America, Revolting America
Pro's- Relative flexibility of the local councils without pressure from a federal council. Great for binding together an unstable union.
Con's- Immediate difficulty if there is not a majority, in that it cannot make decisions. An example is the C.S.A., which ultimatley failed because the local and federal governments could not agree.
Structure- Comparable to a Democracy in that presiding members do not have many actual powers, but still has local representatives, which have a great deal of power.

Gov't Type- Bureaucracy (Namesake)
Used by- Can be alledged that Current America uses it.
Pro's- People can be 'bribed' by use of a nanny state structure of rewards and punishment.
Con's- Easily collapsed on the economical front, and is a sign of any corrupted Democratic-based government.
Structure- Superpowered federal government and emaciated local governments. Elected representatives play a game of favours and power to attain any real power. Much paperwork is a hallmark of the Bureaucracy.

Gov't Type- Theocracy
Used by- Many nations, but in the past included the Holy Romes and, technically, Ancient Israel.
Pro's- Beleif can be incorporated into the government, and can provide a standard of moral behavior and unity for the nation.
Con's- Beleif can be abused and contorted, and could provide a means for violent civil war on religious grounds.
Structure- Religious and possibly elected leaders, though the religious leaders will undoubtedly have more power. Can in theory rule other nations that adhere to the same religion without actually conquering them (I.E. the Papacy could rule many European nations indirectly during the years leading up to the 'Enlightenment' era).

Gov't Type- Empire
Used by- No nation currently, most recent included Kaiser Germany, Great Britan, Tsar Russia, The Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, which are some of the most memorable.
Pro's- Longevity in that there is only a small chance of revolt when the dissenters are faced with a Foreign Legion. Economy can be perpetuated by trade with colonies.
Con's- Quicker to war to aqquire land, take a huge hit if they still use feifdoms, and virtually obselete when compared to Dictatorships, Socialisms, Communisms, and Fascisms, where the people can be given the illusion of freedom.
Structure- Monarch or presiding council of noble blood. Can have multiple branches, such as a colonial director's branch, and even a branch to assimilate absorbed nations while still providing the illusion of their identity (puppet states).

Gov't Type- Monarchy
Used by- Nearly every early European nation, and Saudi Arabia, though it may lean more toward a Constitutional Monarchy.
Pro's- Longevity and the added bonus of a figurehead if the monarch treats the people well and says the right things.
Con's- The winds of societal change whipped up by the Magna Carta have forced nearly all monarchies to become Constitutional Monarchies or collapse altogether (I.E. France).
Structure- A ruling monarch (namesake, obviously), and perhaps an assisting council to His or Her Majesty.

Gov't Type- Constitutional Monarchy
Used by- Current Great Britan and her Commonwealths, likewise with many other nations.
Pro's- Figurehead and sense of history with an actuality of freedom for the people because there is a real power for them.
Con's- Rebellion may stir if the monarch fails to appease the citizens or if the monarch attempts to seize more power for their own use.
Structure- Monarch and elected body of representatives. If a commonwealth of the nation, then there is a relative sense of independence along with the reassurance of an already-prosperous nation.
