Many times I see people complaining about either A) not being able to afford photoshop or B) saying that their art program is shitty and that's why the have 'bad art.'
I have always hated people saying these things because they are really shitty excuses. Your art program is not that fucking bad if you actually know how to use it, for one, and for the other?
THERE ARE OTHER PROGRAMS.
So here is a list and quick review of any free art programs I can find. (Let me know if I'm missing any- I want as many on this list as possible.) (Also if any of the links don't work let me know and I can try to help you out with it.)
FIREALPACA- link
My second favourite program ever. Mixes Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop into one seamless program. This is, arguably, the best art program there is, especially for tablet users. (May be funny for those with a mouse.)
PAINT TOOL SAI- link
My favourite program ever. Not as versatile as FireAlpaca, as it can be very difficult with transparency, but it is probably the best program for use with a mouse as it utilizes the 'lineart layer' function wonderfully.
SUMOPAINT.COM- link
I haven't used sumopaint since before the update, so I'm not 100% sure how it runs now. However, from what it was before, it wasn't my personal favourite, but still a highly recommended program.
PAINT.NET- [b]link
This was the art program I started with. Very simple and easy to use, but has very minimal blurring options. Good for mouse users.
GIMP- link
Another one of my first programs ever. More for photo editing, but with some knowledge, makes a wonderful drawing program.
And now, as a particular 'fuck you' to anyone who's ever said any of those excuses...
I give you the entire fucking Adobe CS2 suite.
For this, though, you WILL need to create an Adobe account if you don't already have one. But it's not hard and shouldn't be a problem for you.
[b]link
This will give you many well respected programs, or just the individual ones that you want, including;
Adobe Creative Suite CS2 (Standard)
Acrobat 3D 1.0 (Windows)
Acrobat Standard 7.0
Acrobat Pro 8.0
Audition 3.0
GoLive CS2
Illustrator CS2
InCopy CS2
InDesign CS2
Photoshop CS2
Photoshop Elements 4.0/5.0
Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0
Now stop complaining.
