I think the title gives it away a bit, but I quite frankly do not care.
Something I have been noticing lately is the lack of criticism in comments of art. Usually, everyone will give a generic compliment like awesome and cool, y'know, things that aren't very specific. Gradually, this is pissing me off, and for several reasons as well.
It is not constructive at all:
Listen, I would understand if it was something that is very good where you cannot find any sort of fault, but that's only in Seuris's art. If you genuinely find it to be perfectly executed, then go ahead and give it a generic and positive statement, but if you do not, then you need to give that person your opinion and what they need to work on with their art and how they could do it. That, my children, is called constructive criticism. It is essential to artists to improve on their art. it applies to nearly everything as well. If you think 2 + 2 = 5, you will think that until the end of time unless someone goes up and tells you it's actually 6. Same thing with art.
It is not very interesting to read because of lack of detail:
If you find a specific area or an effect the artist used that you quite enjoy, incorporate that into your opinion and comment on it. It's plain and quite quotidian to most artists if you're just like dude, liek dis iz ballin'. That's just fucking boring.
It shows you're not sincere with your actual intentions:
Saying something is just kewl shows to the artist you don't really care about the work, even if that's not what you truly feel. Seeming apathetic is a good thing to avoid.
It shows you have a lack of appreciation for better words:
Okay, this is just me being a glossophiliac, but at least using words with more syllables and that are used less will make you seem a bit more sophisticated and overall less of a mainstream moron.
An example I can think of is one shown link. As a artist deemed good by the community, you would think Danni would have something more to say other than that. At least maybe something about the over-spacing. My comments involves my opinion, involving negativity mainly, but better to criticise than generically compliment. Granted, I did not give any advice, but it's mainly due to I have no experience drawing at all digitally, and barely traditionally. Danni, however, has very much experience and could've added a bit more, don't you think?
I do not understand why artists don't help other artists too much with their works. There are some who actually to critique, but most just generically compliment, thinking their actually helping that artist. For example, as a writer, I make sure to point out misspellings, organization and overall originality. Basically, If you know they can do better, then tell them. You don't need to give them a paragraph, either. Just a sentence or two could get your point across pretty well and will help them become better artists.
Also: Just because they're drawing and not recolouring, doesn't mean they deserve to not be given constructive criticism on their work. Don't even set recolouring to an unacceptable standard, it doesn't even belong on the scale.
I will conclude with this final message: Next time you find some art you see problems with, point it out in a respectable manner and if you can, tell them how they can improve on it. You'll make a community of better artists and overall making the community better.

“Shane?”

“Shane?”
“…”
“SHANE, YOU LITTLE FUCKER!?”
“Hnnn?” Said HedgeBat turned to the now-infuriated HedgeBeast, putting his magazine down, “Whaddaya want, Mother?”
“You’re stoned.”
“So?”
“I’m bored.”
“Then do something…”
“Can I go drive a tank over something?”
By then, Shane had turned his attention back to his magazine, “Go for it.”
…
“YYEEEEEHHHAAAAWWW!”
Next morning…
“Mother?”
“Yeah?”
“…What happened to my car?”

Uhh... Yeah. :| I'm not quite sure what this is, either.
Mother drives a tank over Shane's car... I dunno what else she destroyed. 8/
